  7. (07:03:46) Permafry_42: yup from what i ready you use the beta update to switch dubs for the game
  8. (07:03:51) Cheeseness: It does. Apparently originally it didn't
  9. (07:03:52) Cheeseness: Yeah
  10. (07:04:01) Syd: That's pretty cool
  11. (07:04:04) The-Mad-Pirate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortimer_and_the_Riddles_of_the_Medallion

  19. (07:04:49) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: Permafry_42: Ohhh you are doing the honors today ! nice !
  20. (07:04:58) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: it's almost live for me
  21. (07:05:03) Permafry_42: hey mad pirate!
  22. (07:05:06) Syd: For the first time in over a month, I'm not the one streaming. :P
  23. (07:05:27) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: Syd: You need a rest , fair lady !
  24. (07:05:52) Cheeseness: The Book of Unwritten Tales was a long haul
  25. (07:06:02) Syd: Yeah, it definitely was
  26. (07:06:05) libcg: still a white screen for me
  27. (07:06:09) Cheeseness: Gosh, I haven't seen the infrogrames logo in a long, long time
  28. (07:06:10) Permafry_42: yeah having a shorter game should be a nice change for everyone
  29. (07:06:11) libcg left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  30. (07:06:21) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: It's live for me
  31. (07:06:26) SirSlade_: me as well
  32. (07:06:28) libcg [58b65935@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  33. (07:06:34) sleepypig: dry cereal :o They certainly knew their threats.
  34. (07:06:49) libcg left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  35. (07:06:51) Cheeseness: As somebody who's never liked milk on cereal, that's not a very meaningful threat
  36. (07:06:57) libcg [58b65935@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  37. (07:06:58) Cheeseness: Hives :D
  38. (07:07:08) libcg: it works now :D
  39. (07:07:10) Cheeseness: Enjoy!
  40. (07:07:15) Cheeseness: libcg: Awesome
  41. (07:07:24) Permafry_42: gotta love the gags
  42. (07:07:30) GameClubFan_449690 [471cab9e@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  43. (07:07:32) libcg: new voices?
  44. (07:07:36) Cheeseness: Yeah, this is plenty gagful
  45. (07:07:36) Syd: It's the UK dub
  46. (07:07:41) GameClubFan_449690 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  47. (07:07:43) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: so cartoony
  48. (07:07:43) Permafry_42: these are the uk voices
  49. (07:07:48) RussianBlue [8efe0122@hide-50D287EE.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  50. (07:07:59) libcg: pow pow pow i did. my whole body is a weapon
  51. (07:08:07) Permafry_42: for future games we'll probably be using the us dub, but we'll see
  52. (07:08:08) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: I can't pin the author's style though
  53. (07:08:49) Cheeseness: So this feels like it was aimed at a slightly older audience than PJ Sam
  54. (07:09:17) libcg: so who's playing right now?
  55. (07:09:24) Syd: Permafry_42 is our streamer for this game
  56. (07:09:25) Cheeseness: Permafry_42 is streaming for us this week
  57. (07:09:30) Cheeseness: (and next week)
  58. (07:09:35) RussianBlue: It was, definitely (agewise)
  59. (07:09:53) Syd: Each of the HE series seemed to be aimed at a slightly different age range
  60. (07:10:17) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: anyone knows if there has ever been a remake of "Amazon"
  61. (07:10:32) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: last time i played it was back in 1991 or 1992
  62. (07:10:44) RussianBlue: Humongous target ages, in order: Putt Putt, Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam, Spy Fox
  63. (07:10:52) Cheeseness: I like that his spy watch has a fun button
  64. (07:11:15) PuttPutt2110 [632154ff@hide-B64552F4.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  65. (07:11:16) Lightkey: will the real slim fuzzie please stand up?
  66. (07:11:25) RussianBlue: BTW this is Sandy - one of the animators on Spy Fox (and many other titles)
  67. (07:11:34) Syd: Hey Sandy!
  68. (07:11:40) RussianBlue: Hi!
  69. (07:11:45) libcg: hi !
  70. (07:11:50) Cheeseness: Oh! Welcome, Sandy :D
  71. (07:11:59) Sven_Q45: Hi.
  72. (07:12:06) PuttPutt2110: I thought it was Prussian Blue?
  73. (07:12:12) RussianBlue: Nifty system you have here
  74. (07:12:24) PuttPutt2110: Brad here
  75. (07:12:42) RussianBlue: No - Russian Blue is a cat. Prussian Blue is a color. ;)
  76. (07:12:44) Cheeseness: Welcome, Brad!
  77. (07:12:57) PuttPutt2110: Happy fun sub...a classic
  78. (07:13:01) Cheeseness: Out of interest, when was the last time either of you played this game?
  79. (07:13:03) PuttPutt2110: Hi Cheese
  80. (07:13:08) GameClubFan_216263 [47c29d33@hide-50D287EE.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  81. (07:13:16) RussianBlue: Geez...AGES
  82. (07:13:22) GameClubFan_216263 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  83. (07:13:53) PuttPutt2110: When did it ship?
  84. (07:14:07) RussianBlue: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Blue
  85. (07:14:21) Cheeseness: 1997 did we say?
  86. (07:14:42) RussianBlue: Hah! I forgot about the tattoo pelican
  87. (07:15:20) PuttPutt2110: I so like the voice actor we picked after this game.
  88. (07:15:51) RussianBlue: I should mention that those clickpoints were a labor of love - the artists used to try and out-do each other
  89. (07:15:54) Sven_Q45: This voice actor is great! :)
  90. (07:16:05) flesk: Do those animations trigger when you hover over them or do you have to click?
  91. (07:16:11) Cheeseness: :O
  92. (07:16:13) Syd: Infinite tattoo
  93. (07:16:16) Permafry_42: yeah the tattoo and go fish program are my favourite parts of this game
  94. (07:16:18) Cheeseness: That was amazing
  95. (07:16:23) RussianBlue: LOL that was my fave one
  96. (07:16:29) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: this engine predates flash animation games , right ?
  97. (07:16:39) Cheeseness: It's SCUMM still isn't it?
  98. (07:16:42) PuttPutt2110: oh yes
  99. (07:17:00) RussianBlue: Oh yeah - I did the mermaid one
  100. (07:17:11) RussianBlue: Wow, it's all coming back :)
  101. (07:17:15) Cheeseness: :D
  102. (07:17:20) PuttPutt2110: Christ I don't remember that many animations
  103. (07:17:28) RussianBlue: Me neither!
  104. (07:17:36) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: amazing , I never though on SCUMM as the granfather of Flash based adventure games
  105. (07:18:38) libcg: is this based on SCUMM?
  106. (07:18:39) PuttPutt2110: Who is playing the game?
  107. (07:18:39) RussianBlue: I think the pelican was one of those animations where all the artists could chip in if they had the time
  108. (07:18:46) Syd: Permafry_42 is streaming.
  109. (07:18:47) Cheeseness: Permafry_42 is streaming for us today
  110. (07:19:40) libcg: is there anyone from Humongous Entertainment here?
  111. (07:19:51) libcg: i mean, who's working there right now
  112. (07:19:55) libcg: currently*
  113. (07:20:02) PuttPutt2110: I'm here
  114. (07:20:10) PuttPutt2110: Brad Carlton
  115. (07:20:13) Cheeseness: So, what made a secret agent spoof feel like a good fit for a pun filled kid friendly adventure game?
  116. (07:20:16) RussianBlue: I don't think they are in business any more
  117. (07:20:17) Syd: RussianBlue and PuttPutt2110 are Sandy and Brad, respectively.
  118. (07:20:28) GameClubFan_429592 [564a0c60@hide-50D287EE.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  119. (07:20:48) RussianBlue: A few folks were kept to support the Backyard Sports line, but I think that's done now
  120. (07:20:55) RussianBlue: Brad do you know?
  121. (07:21:02) PuttPutt2110: We really kind of made it for ourselves. and lucked out that it was a hit.
  122. (07:21:02) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: PuttPutt2110: Did you guys worked independly or did you guys received feedback from Ron ?
  123. (07:21:06) Cheeseness: Yeah, Humongous itself is pretty much gone, I think. The IP for Spy Fox, Putt Putt, Freddi Fish and PJ Sam are owned by Tommo Inc, who got Night Dive to handle the Steam releases
  124. (07:21:19) Cheeseness: Speak of the Gilbert
  125. (07:21:24) Cheeseness: Ron was credited as creative director on this, right?
  126. (07:21:45) GameClubFan_429592 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  127. (07:21:57) RussianBlue: On all the HE titles, I think
  128. (07:22:09) PuttPutt2110: Yep. Ron was involved but I have to admit he was pretty hands off with SpyFox
  129. (07:22:35) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: So bad HE vice president went to jail for that bank con
  130. (07:22:55) Permafry_42: btw the subtitles are from the american version, which is why they're different from the dialogue slightly
  131. (07:23:22) libcg: PuttPutt2110: i've had a bug on Spy Fox for android
  132. (07:23:32) Sven_Q45: Are the subtites in the british version different?
  133. (07:23:53) libcg: when tapping the spy mobile in the mobile command center, i had a crash. i should try to reproduce this.
  134. (07:23:56) Cheeseness: No, it sounds like there aren't specific subtitles for the British version
  135. (07:24:10) Cheeseness: (this is the Brittish dub)
  136. (07:24:38) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: Oh Bloody sogs !
  137. (07:24:40) Cheeseness: I love how dense HE games manage to get without feeling crowded
  138. (07:24:40) Sven_Q45: There is a difference?
  139. (07:24:59) Cheeseness: Different voice actors and slightly different wording from time to time by the looks of things
  140. (07:25:00) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: Only in favourite colour , dear friend.
  141. (07:25:18) Sven_Q45: Interesting. I thought it´s the same.
  142. (07:25:19) RussianBlue: Yes - I thought the voices were unfamiliar
  143. (07:25:19) Cheeseness: At least, I think they're different actors
  144. (07:25:31) PuttPutt2110: No wonder I didn't recognize the voice. I kind of like it though
  145. (07:25:34) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: So Activision never really invested anymore on HE games ?
  146. (07:25:59) PuttPutt2110: No. Atari bought us
  147. (07:26:20) RussianBlue: And to pay their debts, they have sold off the rights
  148. (07:26:48) Cheeseness: Not all of the HE catalogue went to Tommo if I remember right
  149. (07:26:50) RussianBlue: But at least they are available on Steam now
  150. (07:27:01) Cheeseness: There were some other licenced titles which were picked up by someone else
  151. (07:27:09) RussianBlue: I think they kept the Backyard Sports line separate
  152. (07:27:14) Cheeseness: Yeah
  153. (07:27:44) Sven_Q45: Yes the american voice actor is not so good as this one. :O
  154. (07:27:46) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: PuttPutt2110: You are right, My fault.
  155. (07:28:00) The-Mad-Pirate-Firefox: Yeah , Atari hasn't done anything for quite a few years
  156. (07:28:29) Sven_Q45: Who bought Atari?
  157. (07:28:41) Cheeseness: It's the half closed eyelids that make the character
  158. (07:29:03) PuttPutt2110: thank you
  159. (07:29:11) RussianBlue: We were doing Flash animation before there was Flash, heh
  160. (07:29:12) Syd: All watches should have a fun button
  161. (07:29:13) libcg: prof quack :D http://i.imgur.com/LP3gXLr.gif
  162. (07:29:17) libcg: http://i.imgur.com/LP3gXLr.gif
  163. (07:30:21) Sven_Q45: So HE with Scumm had the first flash games?
  164. (07:30:35) libcg: go find the beef :D
  165. (07:30:44) PuttPutt2110: Honestly I've never seen the British version of SpyFox. the Dialogue is awesome.
  166. (07:30:56) RussianBlue: No - I was just saying this looked a lot like Flash - only it's all hand-animated
  167. (07:31:23) RussianBlue: We were trying to do that old pose-to-pose animation style
  168. (07:31:26) Sven_Q45: PuttPutt2110 It sounds better.
  169. (07:31:29) libcg: no butts about it, lol
  170. (07:32:03) PuttPutt2110: Rump roast...I love that line
  171. (07:32:35) RussianBlue: Unlike the other HE character games - those were all smooth, Disney-style animation
  172. (07:33:22) SirSlade_ left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  173. (07:33:36) PuttPutt2110: Done on purpose. We wanted more of a Bullwinkle style
  174. (07:33:43) Permafry_42: i really love the animation quality on all HE games. even today they look great
  175. (07:34:01) libcg: here comes the best part of the game
  176. (07:34:09) libcg: when he tells his story
  177. (07:34:11) RussianBlue: We did every frame on paper
  178. (07:34:14) Cheeseness: I can't remember whether it was during our interview with Ron or his PAX Aus keynote, but he talked about the decision to go with this sort of style for Humongous games. Apparently early stuff looked more like pixel art, but he apparently went to some trade show/expo and saw stuff like Dragon's Lair and felt like a hand animated look would stand way above the direction they were heading in
  179. (07:34:16) PuttPutt2110: OMG Udderly
  180. (07:34:37) RussianBlue: OMG I remember when Tom Witte butt-crawled across the office to show us how to do that anim!
  181. (07:34:57) PuttPutt2110: VO is all wrong. It was Don Knotts in the American version
  182. (07:35:14) libcg: "there were dozens of them. pow pow pow i did. my whole body is a weapon" :D
  183. (07:35:15) PuttPutt2110: Tom got around a lot that way
  184. (07:35:23) RussianBlue: Heheheh
  185. (07:35:50) Permafry_42: don't worry; we'll be doing the us dub when we do 2 and 3, so we'll be able to compare and contrast the dubs
  186. (07:36:17) Cheeseness: I found it interesting to learn that there were multiple English localisations
  187. (07:36:17) PuttPutt2110: Sweet. Let us know when you do those
  188. (07:36:24) Cheeseness: For sure!
  189. (07:36:26) libcg: he's too funny
  190. (07:36:34) RussianBlue: BRB my audio has gone wonky
  191. (07:36:39) RussianBlue left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  192. (07:37:46) RussianBlue [8efe0122@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  193. (07:38:06) Permafry_42: i love the blueprints sections
  194. (07:38:08) libcg: i think the US localization is way funnier, but this one is interesting, too :)
  195. (07:38:18) RussianBlue: I always think of Jay Sopp (our lead animator) when I see Quack
  196. (07:38:33) PuttPutt2110: Good stuff
  197. (07:38:45) libcg: "it even has a very refreshing beefy flavour"!
  198. (07:38:53) PuttPutt2110: Quacks VO made me laugh
  199. (07:39:35) Syd: I gotta head out a bit early. Enjoy the rest of the stream, everyone!
  200. (07:39:41) Permafry_42: cya syd!
  201. (07:39:43) Cheeseness: Alrighty, have fun, Syd. Thanks for coming!
  202. (07:39:48) Syd left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  203. (07:39:54) libcg: wow he does duck noises, nice
  204. (07:40:08) Sven_Q45: I´m unpacking a big box of adventures now. But I´m still here. :D
  205. (07:40:12) RussianBlue: We had fun coming up with those gadgets
  206. (07:40:51) RussianBlue: Quack must be pretty full of blueprints by now
  207. (07:40:53) Permafry_42: yeah i love the gadget ideas
  208. (07:41:12) PuttPutt2110: What do you me "we" it was all me ; )
  209. (07:41:16) libcg: RussianBlue: one more :D
  210. (07:41:40) RussianBlue: Sorry Brad - I forgot for a moment ;)
  211. (07:41:47) Cheeseness: :D
  212. (07:41:54) GameClubFan_384812 [1f2e8c08@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  213. (07:42:10) Cheeseness: Gotta eat them blueprints so that they don't fall into the wrong hands
  214. (07:42:57) libcg: disgusting :D
  215. (07:43:14) Cheeseness: Awesome
  216. (07:43:43) Cheeseness: Brad, Sandy, what sort of things do you work on these days?
  217. (07:44:19) RussianBlue: We design educational games for kids at LeapFrog
  218. (07:44:38) Permafry_42: ladies and gentlemen, may i present to you the rabbit named phil fish
  219. (07:44:40) PuttPutt2110: What she said
  220. (07:45:33) PuttPutt2110: We modeled the rabbit after Ron Gilbert. I don't think he ever knew that. You aren't on this are you Ron?
  221. (07:45:34) RussianBlue: Their rabbit voice doesn't quite capture the uber-geek character we had in mind...
  222. (07:45:52) Cheeseness: That's leapfrog.com, right?
  223. (07:45:54) jfrisby: :D
  224. (07:46:02) PuttPutt2110: yep
  225. (07:46:03) RussianBlue: Note the stained shirt ;)

  233. (07:47:51) Cheeseness: heh
  234. (07:48:03) GameClubFan_307689: what's this?
  235. (07:48:15) Cheeseness: Spy Fox in Dry Cereal
  236. (07:48:29) GameClubFan_307689: oh cool
  237. (07:48:32) Cheeseness: We've got two developers in here chatting with us and sharing some of their memories of working on the game
  238. (07:48:36) Cheeseness: :)
  239. (07:48:43) GameClubFan_307689: nice
  240. (07:48:46) RussianBlue: Wow, I forgot how much VO depth we put in these things
  241. (07:48:47) GameClubFan_307689 is now known as nothing_much
  242. (07:49:03) GameClubFan_888768 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  243. (07:49:14) silverspork [~Adium@hide-16C592EE.hsd1.pa.comcast.net] entered the room.
  244. (07:49:17) Cheeseness: Sandy, Brad, how did you come to work at Humongous Entertainment?
  245. (07:49:22) silverspork: yo
  246. (07:49:27) Cheeseness: Hi silverspork
  247. (07:49:31) jfrisby: The amount of dialog here is pretty amazing :D
  248. (07:49:32) silverspork: hello
  249. (07:49:37) nothing_much: whoa I never playe-
  250. (07:49:39) nothing_much: oh sorry
  251. (07:49:50) Cheeseness: Hey nothing_much
  252. (07:49:56) GameClubFan_384812 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  253. (07:49:58) PuttPutt2110: I answered an add in the newspaper. Remember newspapers?
  254. (07:50:03) nothing_much is now known as Nothing_Much
  255. (07:50:08) Cheeseness: :Da
  256. (07:50:21) libcg: i should click more often on stuff. it's incredible
  257. (07:50:30) RussianBlue: I started as a clickpoint animator - then went to character animation, lead animator etc.
  258. (07:50:34) Cheeseness: Humongous Games are like that
  259. (07:50:44) Cheeseness: So much stuff
  260. (07:51:37) RussianBlue: Those were good years - everyone put a lot of love into these games
  261. (07:52:13) Nothing_Much: I never played Spy Fox, but I definitely remember playing and getting stuck in some of the games by Humongous, which were awesome!
  262. (07:52:19) Cheeseness: Is that something inherent to adventure games in general? I can't think of any which don't seem to have had a lot of passion put into them
  263. (07:52:46) RussianBlue: Good point
  264. (07:53:03) libcg: LOL
  265. (07:53:12) libcg: that rabbit is despicable
  266. (07:53:20) ElectroMan [d8ff2ff1@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  267. (07:53:23) RussianBlue: They are a lot of work - maybe that's part of it
  268. (07:53:30) Cheeseness: Yeah, that's what I was thinking
  269. (07:53:53) Cheeseness: And the bar's pretty high, so it's harder to be competitive with less effort
  270. (07:54:03) PuttPutt2110: The name Monkey Penny actually came from our PR person
  271. (07:54:17) libcg: oh oh, there will be fight!
  272. (07:54:19) Cheeseness: Very greek there
  273. (07:54:20) RussianBlue: Hah! They pronounced her name "Beah"
  274. (07:54:25) jfrisby: haha
  275. (07:54:30) RussianBlue: It's Bea
  276. (07:54:30) libcg: and no crocodiles
  277. (07:54:36) RussianBlue: but not a very British name
  278. (07:54:47) ElectroMan: Why are they playing the UK version anyway?
  279. (07:54:57) Peder [quassel@hide-FBB75620.range86-160.btcentralplus.com] entered the room.
  280. (07:55:02) Cheeseness: Permafry_42 is streaming and wanted to stream the UK dub
  281. (07:55:06) Nothing_Much: Are there differences ElectroMan ?
  282. (07:55:21) Permafry_42: because i want to show both dubs, and we'll be playing the us dub for spy fox 2
  283. (07:55:21) Nothing_Much: only with the voices?
  284. (07:55:23) Cheeseness: Different voice actors, Nothing_Much
  285. (07:55:24) Permafry_42: and 3
  286. (07:55:25) jfrisby: Wow, there's separate US and UK dubs?
  287. (07:55:36) Nothing_Much: I didn't know that
  288. (07:55:39) Nothing_Much: :D
  289. (07:55:41) Cheeseness: Yep. You have to opt into a beta on Steam to get the UK dub
  290. (07:55:48) Nothing_Much: oh man
  291. (07:55:53) libcg: nice :)
  292. (07:55:59) ElectroMan: Ah, makes sense. Are you going to play the US dub next session? Or just for 2 and 3?
  293. (07:56:24) Nothing_Much: this is amazing and how did they manage to get linux support? o.o
  294. (07:56:26) Permafry_42: for 2 and 3 since i can't transfer saves between the uk dub and us dub
  295. (07:56:27) PuttPutt2110: It's been a long time but I think some of the actual dialogue is different.
  296. (07:56:28) silverspork: why is fistfight never an option in these things
  297. (07:56:54) libcg: why S.S. Deadweight?
  298. (07:56:55) PuttPutt2110: It's for kids
  299. (07:57:03) Cheeseness: Spy Fox doesn't take the firsts path
  300. (07:57:06) Cheeseness: He takes the spy path
  301. (07:57:10) Lightkey: XYZ PKQ?
  302. (07:57:23) ElectroMan: But he's an expert in Cocka-Doodle-Fu!
  303. (07:57:30) RussianBlue: Totally
  304. (07:57:32) Permafry_42: the subtitles are sometime glitched from what i can tell
  305. (07:57:39) silverspork: judo chop!
  306. (07:58:07) ElectroMan: The subtitles weren't even available in the original version. They were there, but there was no menu option to turn them on. So they probably weren't a priority.
  307. (07:58:21) Cheeseness: Aside from James Bond, what other influences did Spy Fox have?
  308. (07:58:29) Permafry_42: yeah i added them via scummvm
  309. (07:58:32) Nothing_Much: whoa!
  310. (07:58:33) ElectroMan: Get Smart.
  311. (07:59:05) RussianBlue: Definitely. We even did the shoe.
  312. (07:59:09) PuttPutt2110: Totally Get Smart
  313. (07:59:13) Nothing_Much: what's scummvm?
  314. (07:59:44) libcg: so that's a movie i don't know yet
  315. (07:59:45) Cheeseness: Nothing_Much: You don't know what ScummVM is? It's how we play all these awesome adventure games on Linux :D
  316. (07:59:50) Cheeseness: http://scummvm.org
  317. (07:59:54) Permafry_42: scummvm is the emulator for playing the older scumm games on modern computers. it has a subtitle option that i turned on for the sake of the stream
  318. (08:00:03) ElectroMan: Yeah, in 2 and 3, he sounds JUST like Maxwell Smart. You can look forward to that.
  319. (08:00:46) Cheeseness: These versions are shipping on Steam running in ScummVM
  320. (08:01:15) Cheeseness: It's been a convenient way for some of these older titles to be distributed without extra work done on them to get them running under modern operating systems
  321. (08:01:37) Cheeseness: Thankfully ScummVM supports a whole stack of platforms, so you can deploy to pretty much everything
  322. (08:01:40) Nothing_Much: nice
  323. (08:01:45) GameClubFan_145802 [d078d850@hide-50D287EE.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  324. (08:01:53) Cheeseness: I'm surprised you hadn't heard of it. It's a pretty high profile F/OSS project
  325. (08:01:59) silverspork: was that just a bunch of fans who made ScrummVM?
  326. (08:02:09) Cheeseness: It's community developed, yeah
  327. (08:02:15) silverspork: that's cool
  328. (08:02:19) Nothing_Much: I thought something like DOSBox would've been used
  329. (08:02:22) Cheeseness: I believe we have a few scummvm people in here too
  330. (08:02:31) Nothing_Much: Since these games were made in the 95/98 era
  331. (08:02:34) PuttPutt2110: Johnny Gecko aka Tom Witte the animator who created him
  332. (08:02:35) Cheeseness: ScummVM is nicer in that it's specifically tailored to work with these engines
  333. (08:02:41) ElectroMan: Good thing he's on the path to learn Cocka-Doodle-Fu in this playthrough. He references it repeatedly in the third game.
  334. (08:02:43) GameClubFan_145802: Yep, I'm on ScummVM.
  335. (08:02:48) Cheeseness: DOSBox is a bit more generic and has cruft for other stuff in it
  336. (08:03:06) RussianBlue: She's got a great Northern accent - hilarious they chose that one. It's perfect.
  337. (08:03:50) Cheeseness: Hah
  338. (08:03:51) Nothing_Much: If this was Pajama Sam I'd be more nostalgic, I never had a spy fox game :(
  339. (08:03:51) Lightkey: "it's not" :-D
  340. (08:03:55) silverspork: that's what she should get sued for
  341. (08:04:00) GameClubFan_145802: AH, not a one, Mr. Fox!
  342. (08:04:13) ElectroMan: Do these games even run on DOS, though? I thought only the first few HE games did.
  343. (08:04:14) Cheeseness: We've got a few PJ Sam games for Game Club already
  344. (08:04:31) libcg: "monsieur gros lard" in french.
  345. (08:04:48) Cheeseness: Place your shoemaker's knives on the table
  346. (08:04:51) GameClubFan_145802 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  347. (08:05:32) RussianBlue: I forgot how great this script is
  348. (08:06:12) Cheeseness: I feel embarrassed to admit that this is the first time I've seen it, but I'm impressed :D
  349. (08:06:18) RussianBlue: Watch out for this pig - he cheats!
  350. (08:06:28) Permafry_42: the pig reminds me of dursley from harry potter
  351. (08:06:38) libcg left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  352. (08:06:49) libcg [58b65935@hide-B64552F4.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  353. (08:06:59) libcg: RussianBlue: he's usually very lucky indeed
  354. (08:07:03) Permafry_42: this go fish game is great btw
  355. (08:07:08) RussianBlue: Lucky - hah!
  356. (08:07:18) ElectroMan: You guys are brave...playing Big Pig on the path where it isn't necessary.
  357. (08:07:19) RussianBlue: He's a Cheat-A-Pig.
  358. (08:07:19) silverspork: kids spy game = go fish casino scene, very good
  359. (08:08:03) libcg: RussianBlue: i love how he sweats when he is losing.
  360. (08:08:14) RussianBlue: CHEATER!!!
  361. (08:08:15) libcg: his face is awesome :D
  362. (08:08:19) Permafry_42: but the ai can sometime be a bit too good
  363. (08:08:26) PuttPutt2110: He totally cheats. This was a hard game to program.
  364. (08:08:56) ElectroMan: His taunts here sound better in the US version...but otherwise I like his UK voice better. For this game, at least.
  365. (08:09:42) PuttPutt2110: My mother in law hated me for this part of the game.
  366. (08:09:43) ElectroMan: AAAHH THAT EXPRESSION
  367. (08:09:48) Cheeseness: Back in a tick
  368. (08:09:50) Nemoder [3f8ed2bd@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  369. (08:10:00) RussianBlue: I love the Jacks
  370. (08:10:03) libcg: dammit
  371. (08:10:16) ElectroMan: This face...gave me nightmares.
  372. (08:10:31) PuttPutt2110: hah.
  373. (08:10:49) libcg: I WANT TO SEE HIM LOSING
  374. (08:11:02) RussianBlue: They all remind me of the artists who designed them.
  375. (08:11:13) libcg: noooooooooo :(
  376. (08:11:21) RussianBlue: lol
  377. (08:11:46) Babar [Miranda@C2F56480.CDA1A722.83382450.IP] entered the room.

  395. (08:14:42) PuttPutt2110: I forget, Sandy, did the pelican have any other function other than a click point?
  396. (08:14:48) Cheeseness: Brad, Sandy, would you be interested in joining us again next week?

  460. (08:23:25) Cheeseness: I have to say, having devs join us for older games is my favourite. Getting to witness first hand as memories come flooding back is pretty awesome
