  7. Mike: Also also, hello future logs and readers. Welcome to the start of something that should be, if we all are as awesome as we are in real life, something both fun and incredible. And further superlatives, etc. etc. okay time for stats.
  8. Mike: Shall I plop 'em down, or have you done so already in a place I can't see?
  9. Mike: ...Also, lemme connect as a player, not a GM. That might ake things a bit more fair.
  10. Mike: BRB.
  11. Mike is disconnected.
  12. Mike has connected.
  13. Mike: There we go, now I'm a player.
  14. Kaorin Sakura: I haven't entered in anything.
  15. Kaorin Sakura: And yeah, that's importnat.
  16. Kaorin Sakura: important*
  17. TBG has connected.
  18. Mike: Don't wanna spoil myself right out the gate
  19. TBG: Woo! Made it!
  20. Mike: But, okay. I'll put some tokens in. Lesse.
  21. Kaorin Sakura: Now we're just waiting on Yuting and maybe Romulus.
  22. Kaorin Sakura: TBG, please enter in the evasions and HP of your tokens.
  23. Tokens dropped onto map 'Pokéhome Aishen King'
  24. Kaorin Sakura: You'll find your personal box in the select map menu
  25. TBG: Got it.
  26. Kaorin Sakura: Mike, I think you're in the wrong box.
  27. Mike: Oh, didn't see that there was more than one.
  28. Mike: I thought it was the party map. My bad.
  29. Kaorin Sakura: Each of you get your own. ^-^
  30. Mike: Yes, that makes things much more sensible. I plan to fill up a few boxes in the end.
  31. Nychii has connected.
  32. Kaorin Sakura: Welcome Yuting!
  33. Kaorin Sakura: Your character has her own box.
  34. Nychii: hello
  35. Kaorin Sakura: Please select it in the 'select map' menu on the top right corner.
  36. Kaorin Sakura: You'll find your character sprite and pokemon there.
  37. Kaorin Sakura: Right click them and go to 'properties' and enter in their HP and evasions.
  38. Kaorin Sakura: If you need assistance just ask.
  39. Mike: Hm. I believe my current character sheet doesn't have some of the stats my Trainer token is asking for. The Evasions and the various Speeds, mostly.
  40. Kaorin Sakura: Overland is 5 and others are 4.
  41. Kaorin Sakura: OR, I think 2+1/2 highest STR, CON or DEX modifier
  42. Kaorin Sakura: Whichever is higher.
  43. Mike: Got 'em. And my EVAs?
  44. Kaorin Sakura: I'll CP, just a second.
  45. Mike: Danke.
  46. Kaorin Sakura: Dex or Int = non-dmg Str or Wis = spec Con or Cha = phsy
  47. Kaorin Sakura: ^ I can make that look better...
  48. Kaorin Sakura: Dex or Int = non-dmg / Str or Wis = spec / Con or Cha = phsy
  49. Mike: Got it! All the numbers are now filled in.
  50. Kaorin Sakura: Mike, do you have the DMG/HEALING macro?
  51. Nychii: I only see evasive bonus on my sheets
  52. Kaorin Sakura: Dex or Int = non-dmg / Str or Wis = spec / Con or Cha = phsy
  53. Kaorin Sakura: ^ Modifiers.
  54. Kaorin Sakura: Select the highest of the two.
  55. Mike: I don't think I do, actually.
  56. Mike: (have the macro, I mean.
  57. Kaorin Sakura: I'll send it to you and Yuting.
  58. Mike: Danke again.
  59. Kaorin Sakura: And to Dan if he needs it.
  60. Mike: Bear in mind I haven't messed with maptools macros much. May need some help installing it as well if it isn't obvious.
  61. Kaorin Sakura: Make sure you have the global window up.
  62. Kaorin Sakura: Right click a blank spot.
  63. Kaorin Sakura: Import the macro I just sent you.
  64. Kaorin Sakura: It only works on who you're impersonating.
  65. Lime: Lime loses 1 hit points.
  66. Lime: Lime is healed and gains 1 hit points.
  67. Mike: (Awesome! Apparently I do have it, and just never use it. Heh. But good to know how to install them anyway.)
  68. TBG: Is the evasive modifiers our stat modifiers directly, or is there a different formula?
  69. Kaorin Sakura: Directly.
  70. Kaorin Sakura: Like Pokemon, it caps at 6.
  71. TBG: Oh wow.
  72. TBG: I like this.
  73. Kaorin Sakura: Do you have the damage/healing macro?
  74. Kaorin Sakura: Should I send it to you?
  75. Kaorin Sakura: We were using it in Straw's campaign before so I'm not sure if you have it or not.
  76. Nychii: changing text color
  77. Mike: Mind if I change my Caterpie's portrait? Normally I'd just do it, but you had something in there already - so, wanted to be sure.
  78. Kaorin Sakura: I'll always grant default portraits.
  79. Kaorin Sakura: You're free to change your own stuff however you like.
  80. Mike: (*intentionally keeps the file sie to a minimum*)
  81. TBG: I do not have the damage/healing macro
  82. TBG: I would like that though.
  83. Kaorin Sakura: I'll send it.
  84. TBG: One last question- is DR only for things like armor or feats, or do we have some naturally?
  85. Kaorin Sakura: Armor and feats only.
  86. TBG: Okay. Just checking
  87. Kaorin Sakura: It was a good question to ask.
  88. Taillow: Taillow loses 1 hit points.
  89. Taillow: Taillow is healed and gains 1 hit points.
  90. Kaorin Sakura: Glad you got the hang of it, Yuting. ^-^
  91. Nychii: ^___^
  92. TBG: Crap
  93. Kaorin Sakura: ?
  94. TBG: Accidentally erased my overland sprite... ^_^;
  95. Kaorin Sakura: Ah, I'll fix it.
  96. TBG: Thanks
  97. TBG: There we go.
  98. Kaorin Sakura: The image you want to change is under config > portrait.
  99. Kaorin Sakura: Yep. ^-^
  100. TBG: Yeah. I got it
  101. Kaorin Sakura: I'll sometimes use the handout for important NPCs.
  102. Kaorin Sakura: Which to view it, right click a token and then select 'view handout'.
  103. Kaorin Sakura: The option may not appear without an image in the handout though.
  104. TBG: So... how do these macros work?
  105. Kaorin Sakura: Alright, whenever everyone's ready, let me know and we'll begin.
  106. Lauren: (Ayep, I'm good to go.)
  107. Kaorin Sakura: Have the global window open.
  108. Kaorin Sakura: Right click a blank spot and import the macro I sent.
  109. Kaorin Sakura: It'll be self explanatory once you import it.
  110. Kaorin Sakura: It only works on Impersonated tokens though.
  111. TBG: ah. Cool
  112. Theodore: I'm prepared ta begin.
  113. Nychii: I think I'll just use the defaults for this time
  114. Nychii: I'll change images later
  115. Kaorin Sakura: Sounds good.
  116. Kaorin Sakura: I'll also be using your box to drop tokens onto maps.
  117. Kaorin Sakura: So, if you keep anything up to date, it should be those.
  118. Tobi: Ooooh, shiny
  119. Nychii: actually, let me try some reds
  120. Kaorin Sakura: ^-^
  121. Tobi: Much better
  122. Kaorin Sakura: Lemme know when you're ready.
  123. Tobi: Let's get going!
  124. Theodore: I'm prepared ta begin our quest.
  125. Lauren: Only so long y'all can hold me back, now.
  126. Nychii: wait didn't finish evasion
  127. Lauren: (*faceplant*)
  128. Kaorin Sakura: ^-^ I'll spend this time pulling up dates and weather.
  129. Theodore: *faceplant*
  130. Theodore: an old man and 3 teenage girls... let the awkwardness commence!
  131. Nychii: so if I've got no modifiers, it'd be 2?
  132. Kaorin Sakura: With Romulus joining it'll be old man, boy and two girls.
  133. Lauren: (It's like the weirdest harem anime pitch ever.)
  134. Kaorin Sakura: It'll be 0.
  135. Nychii: okay
  136. Theodore: (...Don't give them ideas. They might be watching....)
  137. Theodore: So we have another guy? That's somewhat reassuring.
  138. Nychii: I think I'm set
  139. Tobi: Let's go
  140. Theodore: Then we set out.
  141. Kaorin Sakura: Alright, just finishing up the opening and I'll begin paste spamming.
  142. Theodore: FOR DEMACIA!
  143. Lauren: (*awaits flood of info*)
  144. Theodore: (*Is writing a journal based on the events*)
  145. Tobi: (*nibbles on sushi*)
  146. Kaorin Sakura: 70 degrees F. Partly Cloudy. Feels like 70 degrees F. East, South, East 6 mph wind. 78% Humidity. 63 degree dew point. 10.0 mi. visibility. 30.29 in. pressure. 0-Low UV index.
  147. Kaorin Sakura: Next 6 hours: Partly cloudy with temperatures steady in the mid 60s. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph.
  148. Kaorin Sakura: January 1st. Monday. 7:45 A.M.
  149. Kaorin Sakura: Welcome to the World of Pokémon!
  150. Kaorin Sakura: Each of you have traveled to Pallet Town for various personal reasons to meet the esteemed Professor Oak. He's called out each of you individually ( None of you have personally met yet ) to meet him at his home & lab where he's promised you something invaluable! Your journey begins just as you arrive in Pallet, ironically, just as so do two others...
  151. Kaorin Sakura: That would be the moment you guys can do things.
  152. * Lauren is lookin' around as she walks - she may have been to Pallet a few times before, but it's still nice to come to the Big City. Well, big to her, at any rate. Though, she's definitely just a tiny bit nervous.
  153. Theodore: (Quick Question- how does one do what Lauren just did?)
  154. Kaorin Sakura: Commend is /me
  155. Lauren: (it's an old IRC trick. But yeah, just start it with /me and it'll do it for you.)
  156. Theodore: (thank you)
  157. Kaorin Sakura: Command* Oh dear I'm bad with spelling today.
  158. * Theodore arrives in Pallet Town. Things have changed quite a bit from the last time he visited. Then again, it's been several years.
  159. Tobi: (*waves*) Good morning!
  160. * Tobi rubbed her hands together as she waved to two on the road. Beautiful day...for an adventure! It's the first time she's visiting Pallet Town and she's awfully excited.
  161. Lauren: (that was an actual wave-and-hello, right?)
  162. Tobi: (yes, she just waved and said hello as she's walking by)
  163. * Lauren hears the call, and turns around a bit as she's walking. She waves back, in a good mood - good weather, good trip, and a good li'l Caterpie on her shoulder. "How's it goin'?" ...not that she knows who this is at *all*.
  164. * TBG lags behind a bit. A couple kids pass him as he lesuirely makes his way to Oak's Lab.
  165. * Theodore does. (darn it)
  166. Tobi: Do you live around here? (*pulls out a crudely drawn map*) I'm looking for a lab nearby? Professor...o...(*squints*) Oh-ak?
  167. Lauren: (Hm. Would I know the way, actually? I can see it going either way.)
  168. Narrator: Never been here before? No, I'd say you wouldn't.
  169. * Lauren stops walking, and looks at the map. "Uh... Don't actually know m'self. But, I'm headin' that way too." She looks around. "Don't suppose there's a road sign, or anythin'..."
  170. Theodore: "Pardon me, I hear you two are headin' for Oak's Lab?"
  171. Tobi: (*was about to show the map when she heard the question*) ...ah...yes actually!
  172. Theodore: "Well, if ya don't mind, I was actually just on my way there m'self. If ya'd like, I can show ya th' way."
  173. * Theodore has been to Pallet Town before.
  174. Lauren: "That'd be great, actually! Dang invite didn't give real specifics."
  175. You whisper to TBG: You know it's on the western side of Pallet. Northwestern to be specific.
  176. * Tobi is a bit cautious but decides to follow.
  177. Theodore: "Now let's see if'n I can remember... last I was here, the Lab was on th' northwestern side 'a the town."
  178. * Theodore walks off, trying to remember details
  179. Tobi: (give me a second to get a mouse)
  180. * Jolteon looks up as Theodore passes by.
  181. * Theodore waves
  182. Theodore: "Mornin' Jolteon!"
  183. * Jolteon stands before dashing off, jumping over a ledge and knocking down something as it did.
  184. * Tobi looks around the old man to see who he was waving at, then shyly waves at the Jolteon herself
  185. * Lauren looks at the yellow, prickly Pokemon... With no one else around it... that just ran off in a big hurry. "...Hunh."
  186. Tobi: "Err...."
  187. Theodore: "Hmm? Hold on a moment... it looks like it jus' knocked somethin' down from that ledge."
  188. Lauren: "Hey, li' guy, you dropped a thing!"
  189. Theodore: "Hmm... it didn't look like it was carrying this in it's mouth or anythin'..."
  190. Lauren: (I presume it isn't slobbery or anything?)
  191. * Jolteon sits down and cautiously watches you three from above the ledge.
  192. Theodore: "May as well hold on to it fer safekeepin'."
  193. Narrator: A little dirt covered but no, not slobbery.
  194. * Tobi nods
  195. * Theodore picks up the Potion and adds it to his inventory
  196. * Lauren tries to take a longer glance at the Jolteon. Does it have a collar, look wild, lost, anything strange about it?
  197. Narrator: There's no collar and it does, in fact, look wild.
  198. Theodore: "Not every day ya see a wild Jolteon."
  199. Narrator: As a heads up, owned Pokémon will be seen as (owned)
  200. * Lauren raises an eyebrow. "Nope... Hey, li'l guy, you lost?" She tries to be as nice and non-threatening as possible.
  201. Mike: (good to know! Wasn't sure if we could tell yet, even.)_
  202. Tobi: It's cute! ^___^
  203. * Jolteon contently watches from the ledge, looking down at all of you.
  204. * Lauren will slowly aproach the ledge. How tall is it, by the way?
  205. Tobi: Wish I brought some Pokemon food...
  206. Lauren: "Yeah... Didn't think to bring a snack."
  207. Narrator: The ledge of the Jolteon?
  208. Narrator: or*
  209. Lauren: (the ledge, though if the Jolteon happens to be exceptionally tall that'd be good to know too!)
  210. Narrator: The ledge itself is 3m tall. The Jolteon looks to be of normal size.
  211. Tobi: (Did we have to purchase rations ahead of time?)
  212. Narrator: If you want to use them to eat instead of attempting to cook, yes.
  213. Theodore: *is a good cook*
  214. Theodore: "Hmm... maybe we can try a differ'nt approach."
  215. * Theodore pulls his guitar off his back and begins tuning the strings*
  216. Theodore: "Hmmmm...." Theodore hums as he sets the sound.
  217. Lauren: "I hope you know more than Wonderwall... But I dunno that there's an easier way to bring 'im down."
  218. Tobi: (*claps*) "Ooooh! We're going to get a live show" (*grins at the other girl*)
  219. Theodore: "There. Tha' sounds about righ'."
  220. Tobi: (wow I type slow)
  221. * Theodore clears his throat.
  222. * Theodore plays a cheerful tune, a bouncy and friendly melody. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Wmk58-o_r8
  223. * Jolteon lies down and watches from the ledge, giving a long teethy yawn.
  224. * Tobi taps to the beat and dances.
  225. * Theodore whistles the melody.
  226. Professor Oak: "Oh, hello there."
  227. * Professor Oak stands at a distance, waiting for the tune to be finished.
  228. * Lauren is a bit surprised, but quickly stifles a little yelp. No sense in ruining the moment!
  229. * Theodore completes the tune. "Ah... tha' felt nice."
  230. Tobi: "Hello, is that your Jolteon sir?"
  231. Professor Oak: "Ah, no, it isn't. Wild Pokémon often-times live in towns. They're usually a bit calmer than there non-town counterparts."
  232. Professor Oak: "However, you're free to capture any wild Pokémon you may encounter so long as you don't damage anything. And of course, once you have your license."
  233. * Theodore chuckles. "Guess ah'm out of luck for now." He gives a short bow to the Jolteon. "Let's jam again some time."
  234. * Theodore places his guitar back on his back.
  235. Lauren: "Ayep." She gives the Jolteon a little wave. "Maybe bring some friends, too?"
  236. Professor Oak: "I don't mean to pull you all away from befriending that there Jolteon but I'd like to bring each of you down to my lab."
  237. Tobi: (*a little reluctant to leave but waves*) "I'll bring food next time." (*wink*)
  238. Theodore: "Ah! You mus' be tha' Oak fellow who sent me th' letter."
  239. Theodore: "Ah've heard of yer work. Impressive stuff, I might add."
  240. Professor Oak: "Much appreciated and yes, I did. I did to all of you in fact."
  241. Tobi: (*hurries to catch up*)
  242. Lauren: "Gotta admit, I'm curious to see yer lab... And hear you out, o'course."
  243. * Lauren attempts to play it cool, and probably isn't completely successful.
  244. Professor Oak: "Let's move on to the lab then. Please, follow me."
  245. Narrator: The Professor brings you over to a large building location northwest of Pallet.
  246. Professor Oak: "This is my lab as well as my home. Please, come inside."
  247. Theodore: (*switches tracks to "Oak's Lab"*)
  248. Tobi: "Whoa...it's bigger than I thought."
  249. * Professor Oak opens the door and steps inside.
  250. * Theodore follows
  251. Narrator: I don't in-fact have interior maps so description will be common for all interior locations.
  252. Theodore: (Understood)
  253. Tobi: (okay)
  254. * Lauren looks it over as she walks inside, not commenting on the size - no sense comparing it unfavorably to a barn, in any respect.
  255. Narrator: As the Professor steps inside and you all follow you are immediately hit with the fragrance of metal. The first room looks to be similar to a waiting room. It has doors leading to several locations, none of which have a door handle of any kind, as well as severla chairs and couches. Several tables litter the area and are covered with magazines of various kinds.
  256. * Tobi glances briefly at the magazine covers.
  257. * Professor Oak walks up to one of the doors and places his hand on it. After a moment it slides upward revealing a storage area. He reaches in and grabs several devices before turning and walking toward all three of you. The door closes and locks behind him.
  258. Narrator: Several of the Magazines include, "Loyalty and Caring" with a Gardevoir on the cover, "Best Contests of the year!" with a Beedrill and it's Tough Trainer on the cover, and a "Kanto League and its influences" with several silhouettes of people on the cover.
  259. Professor Oak: "Before we begin, here is a Pokédex for each of you."
  260. * Professor Oak hands out each device individually.
  261. * Tobi takes it with a smile and nod. "Thanks"
  262. * Lauren takes the device, and gives it a little look-over. She smiles. "Neat li'l gadget..."
  263. Professor Oak: "The Pokédex serves several purposes. It's your Trainer License/Identification or your TID as well as your encyclopedia on Pokémon. It also keeps a track record of your rank within Kanto which will influence the things you may purchase at PokéMarts. It's also a collective for your money, much like a bank and will allow you to make purchases with money you may earn."
  264. * Theodore is unusually silent as he looks at the device in his hand, unsure if it brings back good memories or bad.
  265. Lauren: "Phew. Slices, dices... I'm gonna wanna play with this!" Then she catches herself. "Uh, when we're done here, o'course."
  266. Tobi: (*already got accustomed to the basics of the device*) "Very intuitive systems."
  267. Professor Oak: "And now onto why I asked all of you out here."
  268. Professor Oak: "My Grandson is the Gym Leader of Viridian City. His childhood friend, Red, is the Champion of Kanto. Both of which I gave a Pokémon to a few years ago and sent them on a journey to capture all the various species they could encounter and storing the data about them in the very device you hold in your hands."
  269. Professor Oak: "There's many different kinds of Pokémon in the world, many we've still even yet to have seen and some that can be found only in select locations."
  270. Professor Oak: "Although that last part I fear may no longer be the case."
  271. Professor Oak: "Many Professors like myself have noticed that Pokémon may be switching habitats or migrating to different areas."
  272. Professor Oak: "While this isn't something unusual the scale of which this is happening is. But, we can't figure out what exactly the cause is."
  273. Professor Oak: "So, I've gathered all three of you today to explore Kanto. Travel, adventure maybe even challenge the Gyms, the League, Contests or whatever you may feel the need to do."
  274. Professor Oak: "You needn't capture Pokémon but you would need to scan whatever you could so I may gain a collection of data of where Pokémon may be migrating to and see if I can find a pattern."
  275. Professor Oak: "The world isn't safe so I'd like to have all of you travel as a team."
  276. Tobi: "This scanning...does it hurt them?"
  277. Professor Oak: "No, it doesn't hurt them. They shouldn't even be aware unless they can see you pointing the Pokédex at them."
  278. Theodore: "I remember these things. Looks like they've gotten a little bit of an upgrade over the years."
  279. * Tobi is thinking about ways to pull the device apart and see its insides...later.
  280. Professor Oak: "I don't intend to do this without paying you. I am, after all, hiring you to pause your lives and go out to seek adventure. I'll be doing two things for you."
  281. * Lauren just grins, getting a bit more excited with each new bullet point.
  282. Professor Oak: "I'll be your sponsor and thus, hosting an artificial environment for your Pokémon you may catch."
  283. Professor Oak: "Some people still use Bill's Storage System, which I may add is very effective, but the stasis leaves a lot to be desired. The one I use will allow your Pokémon to grow and move about freely in an artificial environment. One you may visit physically whenever you're in town. It still does use the Pokémon Centers' teleportation ability so you may still transfer Pokémon as if you were using Bill's PC."
  284. * Lauren gets a little less excited at this point, but doesn't say anything... Yet.
  285. Professor Oak: "The second is, of course, payment."
  286. Professor Oak: "For every 25 different Pokémon you scan I'll provide you with 2500¥."
  287. Professor Oak: "Does this sound like a fair deal to you three?"
  288. Theodore: "Sounds about, righ'."
  289. Lauren: "Ain't gonna say 'no' to that."
  290. Tobi: "For each of us or for all three?"
  291. Theodore: (Ahem: "Sounds about righ'." Darn commas)
  292. Professor Oak: "2500¥ to each of you."
  293. Professor Oak: "If this interests all of you then I believe it's my duty as your Sponsor to push all of you to begin your adventure. Before I do, I'll leave all of you with my personal phone number in case you need to contact me for anything. I may not always be conscious or capable of answering right away but if I miss a call I will return it later."
  294. * Professor Oak writes his number down on several pieces of paper and hands it to each of you.
  295. * Lauren takes it, and puts it between the flap of her Pokedex. She'll program it later, when she's not in the middle of a conversation.
  296. Theodore: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VRr9NG7RE0)
  297. Lauren: (needs more space)
  298. * Theodore slips his Pokedex into his pocket.
  299. * Tobi attempts to scan the paper
  300. Professor Oak: "You can start with Pallet to catalogue. There's a ship that can take you to Cinnabar Island if you'd rather hit the resort first. Most importantly, however, be safe."
  301. Theodore: "Hmm... as appealing as the warm sands of Cinnibar sound, I'd rather not risk battling the wild Pokemon there myself."
  302. Tobi: "So...you're just...letting us go? Whereever? With an expensive device?"
  303. Professor Oak: "The device is yours. It's your License. It pretty much gives you the freedom to capture and train Pokémon without the authorities making a fuss over it."
  304. Tobi: "What happens if it breaks?"
  305. Professor Oak: "You'll need to obtain a new one. They're sold elsewhere."
  306. Tobi: "Sold...I don't like that word." (*will make a conscious effort not to break it*)
  307. Lauren: "Well, lemme ask ya this. I'm sure your artificial environment is wonderful, but if I wanted to send my Pokemon someone else when I caught 'em, how would I do that?"
  308. Professor Oak: "You'd need to transfer it to their storage box or something similar."
  309. Professor Oak: "If you'd like to do that I can set that up for you, Lauren, if it'll be a common trade partner. Just give me their storage address."
  310. Professor Oak: "It'll make it easier to do constant transfers."
  311. Lauren: (Is this, in fact, a thing I can do? I'd rather set this up to send straight to my family's farm now, and not have to worry about it."
  312. Lauren: *)
  313. Narrator: Yes, this is, so long as they have an address. Bill's Storage System is free so it stands that they could have one.
  314. * Lauren will go ahead and quickly set her storage location as her family's farm, then. Since they've just gotten themselves set up, she's the first one to do so! Though... this is the first test of that particular hook-up.
  315. * Professor Oak jots down the address, "I'll get this setup for you Lauren as soon I I get back into my lab. Did anyone else have any questions before you all go?"
  316. Tobi: "May I borrow some magazines?"
  317. Professor Oak: "I'd prefer if you didn't. These are for people who come visit me and await appointments. They sell these at the Pokémon Centers however."
  318. Tobi: "Not exactly on the wealthy side, I'll pass for now."
  319. Professor Oak: "Alright then. Give me a call when you make it to the next town so I know you all got there alright. Stick together and stay safe! If you'll excuse me, I have an experiment to get back to."
  320. Lauren: "Absolutely. Thanks again!" She waves, quite happy with this turn of events.
  321. * Tobi eyes light up at the word "experiment" but tries to act nonchalant.
  322. Theodore: "I appreciate yer help, Professor. Ah'll make sure ta keep a close eye on the young'ns."
  323. Tobi: "Yea, thanks. We'll keep in touch."
  324. Professor Oak: "Excellent."
  325. * Professor Oak opens the door and holds it open for you.
  326. Professor Oak: "I don't mean to be rude, but I'm a bit late as it is. Please, good luck!"
  327. * Theodore exits to the beautiful and scenic town of Pallet.
  328. Theodore: "Later, Sam."
  329. Tobi: "Oh, do you happen to know where I can buy some Pokemon food?"
  330. * Lauren heads out, then, and starts talking to her new - well, travelling partners? Whatever, she can make this work. "Well, first thing I'm thinkin', we - heh, yeah, that."
  331. Professor Oak: "The PokéMart is southeast of here, by the beach."
  332. Tobi: "Thanks."
  333. Theodore: Sounds like a good first stop. It's mighty hard to cook without supplies."
  334. Narrator: As each of you exited, the Professor closed the door, leaving you to explore as you saw fit.
  335. Tobi: "Hmmm...south...south" (*attempts to estimate where it might be by the direction of the sun and an estimate of the time*)
  336. Tobi: (is there a clock on the Pokedex?)
  337. Narrator: The Pokédex does have a clock but it's not a phone.
  338. Theodore: "It's this way."
  339. * Theodore points south.
  340. * Tobi is happy she guess right.
  341. Tobi: "ARE YOU COMING WITH US?"
  342. Tobi: (that was for you up the stairs but I guess that answers that)
  343. Mike: "I am! Just thinkin' about how this is... well, it's a big deal, is all."
  344. Mike: (derp)
  345. Lauren: "I am! Just thinkin' about how this is... well, it's a big deal, is all."
  346. Theodore: "Hmm... it appears our Jolteon friend has been following us."
  347. Tobi: "Arg...I didn't get a chance to grab food yet!"
  348. * Lauren nods. "Did it hop off the bridge? Shoot. Uh, one of us should get that food while th' rest of us keep it company. Make sure it doesn't run off."
  349. Theodore: "Hmm... sounds about right. But first..."
  350. * Lauren walks slowly towards it, again attempting to appear as nonthreatening as possible.
  351. * Theodore scans Jolteon with the Pokedex.
  352. Tobi: (*grins*) "That's smart"
  353. Tobi: "Southeast where?"
  354. * Lauren waves, slowly, to the Jolteon. "Hey, li'l fella. Did you follow us?"
  355. Pokedex: "Jolteon, the Lightning Pokémon. Electric type. JOLTEON's cells generate a low level of electricity. This power is amplified by the static electricity of its fur, enabling the POKÉMON to drop thunderbolts. The bristling fur is made of electrically charged needles."
  356. Tobi: "Sounds less cute..."
  357. * Jolteon was staring at the water intently before hearing Lauren and it looks up cautiously.
  358. Theodore: "Yo. Havin' a nice day today?"
  359. * Lauren kneels down, again, slowly. "Hm... Somethin' down there?"
  360. * Theodore chuckles. "So many questions."
  361. * Jolteon sat down and stared at all of you, glancing to the water briefly before giving a bit of a growl.
  362. Tobi: "Where?" (*kneels down*)
  363. Theodore: "Careful. Don't fall in."
  364. Tobi: "I somehow think fishing with my arm is a bad idea."
  365. * Lauren backs up just an inch. "Somethin' dangerous, sounds like, yeah."
  366. * Theodore peers into the depths.
  367. Lauren: "Or maybe it's just his. Hers?"
  368. * Narrator looking into the water you can see the silhouette of various fish.
  369. * TBG rolls: Perception 1d20+2 => Invalid expression: Perception 1d20+2.
  370. Narrator: Looking into the water you can see the silhouette of various fish.*
  371. Theodore: (Hmm... what was wrong with my formula?)
  372. Lauren: (needs less text I think?)
  373. Theodore: "Must be lookin' fer fish."
  374. * TBG rolls: Perception « 1d20+2 = 11 + 2 = 13 » => Invalid expression: Perception « 1d20+2 = 11 + 2 = 13 ».
  375. Tobi: "Now I wish I bought that rod instead of the flashlight..."
  376. * Lauren nods. "Well, I got no claim on yer fish, buddy. But maybe we can help? Would that be okay?"
  377. * Lauren isn't sure how much the Pokemon understands, but she tries to keep her tone steady and friendly.
  378. * Jolteon was very suspicious by this point but did give a curt nod to Lauren.
  379. Lauren: (GM, thought experiment: how ridiculous would it be for me to attempt to use my whip as a fishing rod? Obviously not ideal, but...)
  380. Narrator: You could always try it.
  381. Lauren: (^_^ Said the GM, grinning madly behind the screen.)
  382. Theodore: "Hmm... actually, I might have an idea."
  383. * Theodore searches for a fallen tree branch.
  384. * Lauren looks up at her two new companions. "Well, if yours doesn't work out, I'd just ask if y'all got any keys or somethin' shiny."
  385. Narrator: The town is kept quite nice but a tree branch could easily be collected from the tree itself.
  386. * Theodore carefully removes a small branch from the tree.
  387. Tobi: (are there coins in the Pokemon world? Or is it only dollars?)
  388. Theodore: "Now, do either of ya have rope?"
  389. Narrator: Credits.
  390. Theodore: "String maybe?"
  391. Tobi: "No...the only string's on my shirt."
  392. * Lauren shakes her head. "Got somethin' a little bigger than that, though. But we could prolly make one with a tarp."
  393. Lauren: "...Just didn't wanna bring it out 'case this guy gets scared of it. Tarp or elsewise."
  394. Theodore: (Was hoping that would prompt the introduction of Lime)
  395. Tobi: (Lime?)
  396. * Lauren blinks. "...Although, I know someone who does. Hey, Lime."
  397. Lauren: (uno momento, loading back into Pallet Town...)
  398. Theodore: (The Caterpie.)
  399. Tobi: (yea, I figured after he was calling it out)
  400. Lime: * A Caterpie, having slept on Lauren's shoulder this whole time, yawns, and crawls down to the ground on her offered arm. "...pie?"
  401. Theodore: "Ah! A Caterpie! Perfect!"
  402. Lauren: "Ayep. Time to earn yer keep, Lime. Think you can hook some string up to this nice man's stick?"
  403. * Lime warbles, and will gladly attempt to do so - even if it did interrupt a nice nap. (Threaded capability. Any rolls appropriate here?)
  404. Narrator: To hit the stick? No, it'll just work to how you like it.
  405. Lime: (Was mostly concerned with tensile strength, but cool!)
  406. Tobi: "Oh awesome." (*moves out of the way*)
  407. * Lime shoots a thin stream of silk onto the end of the stick, wrapping it a few times. Then he lets the string dangle, weaving it a few times around itself. "...Cater!" he says, when it's done.
  408. Theodore: "Many thanks, lil' one."
  409. Theodore: "And now we have a fishing rod. All we need is some bait."
  410. Lauren: "An' that's what I was askin' for keys for. Best I can figure is to use a bottle cap, but that seems a mite dangerous an' not quite so tasty."
  411. * Jolteon sniffs the air a few times
  412. * Lauren offers an arm to Lime again. "An' no, Lime ain't bait for nobody, so don't even ask."
  413. Theodore: "Wouldn' dream of it."
  414. * Lauren looks over her shoulder. "You too, li'l buddy."
  415. * Jolteon hops across the ledges back onto land west of the bridge.
  416. Lauren: "Whelp, since we ain't got a b-"
  417. * Jolteon looks intently at Lime and lowers itself to the ground.
  418. Theodore: "Oh dear. It looks as if it plans on battling."
  419. * Lauren eyes the Jolteon carefully, and brings her arm down towards Lime, slowly. "Ya better not. He ain't lunch..."
  420. * Lime starts backing up slowly, far preferring to get back on Lauren's shoulder, if possible.
  421. Theodore: "Hmm... perhaps this could be our chance ta test your skills."
  422. Narrator: To be fair by this point, we'll enter initiative without Jolteon taking a surprise attack. Anyone wanting to call out their Pokémon now may.
  423. Theodore: "Let's go, Snout!"
  424. Narrator: And Lime can mount Lauren without any penalties to either.
  425. Lauren: "I'd feel a bit better with y'all backin' me up, to be honest. Lime's gonna be great... but he ain't there yet."
  426. Tobi: "Ace, might need you..." (*tosses pokeball*)
  427. Lauren: "No offense."
  428. Lime: "p-pie..."
  429. Lime: (FYI, Lime's SPD is 5. Though it's on tokens here, which is nice. Also, BRB momentarily.)
  430. Narrator: Having trouble getting Ace?
  431. Tobi: where do I find it...
  432. Tobi: (I didn't actually save it if I'm supposed to...)
  433. Narrator: Pokéhome Tobi Mias.
  434. Narrator: Map.
  435. Narrator: I'll copy it for you until you get used to it.
  436. Narrator: Just drag Ace's token to where you want it to be.
  437. * Lime is now a little bit more freaked out. The little fluffball is fine, but now there's a bird behind him too?!
  438. Theodore: (is laughing at his keyboard)
  439. Narrator: To help those here get a grasp, AEB uses a differnet sort of initiative.
  440. * Taillow squeaks and stares at bug
  441. Lauren: "Stay cool, Lime."
  442. Narrator: Trainers act with their Pokémon and use their Pokémon's speed stat for initiative.
  443. Tobi: (*sternly*) "Not food!"
  444. Lauren: *nod* "Thanks."
  445. * Taillow disappointed...
  446. Narrator: So, the Trainer name will be announced for Initiative but both the Trainer and the Pokémon may act together in any order.
  447. Narrator: Let's begin the first battle!
  448. Theodore: "Hmm.. be careful with your tailow. It'll have trouble against electric attacks.
  449. Jolteon has received initiative.
  450. Theodore: "Leave th' shocks ta me."
  451. Jolteon: ( So, is Lime on the bridge or on Lauren's shoulder? )
  452. Tobi: "Ace has a lot of guts. Just be careful buddy!"
  453. Lime: (If possible, he's at least on her arm. I wasn't sure if it'd be possible given the speed disparity.)
  454. Lime: (shall I put him on top of her?)
  455. Jolteon: ( Well, we'll consider that with Lime using her as a Mount. So yes, put him on top of her. )
  456. Tobi: lol, that looks weird
  457. Tobi: (oops)
  458. * Jolteon going after the easier prey, Jolteon charges after Caterpie! « 1d20-3 = 11 - 3 = 8 »
  459. Lime: (so, so hits.)
  460. Jolteon: « 2d8+6+5 = 14 + 6 + 5 = 25 » Physical Normal Damage! Jolteon charges into Lauren as it attempts to knock the Caterpie from her, throwing its weight into her gut!
  461. Lauren: Lauren loses 25 hit points.
  462. * Lauren gets knocked around hard, but she's still standing. Barely. "Guh-"
  463. Jolteon: ( Have Lime roll a Power check to see if it can stay on Lime. )
  464. Theodore: "You don't look so good. Fall behind me."
  465. Lime: « d20+2 = 4 + 2 = 6 » Power check!
  466. Jolteon: ( On Lauren. Oops. )
  467. Tobi: "That not very nice."
  468. * Lime probably does not.
  469. * Jolteon grins as it knocked its prey off of Lauren.
  470. Tobi has received initiative.
  471. Tobi: (I'd like to use growl, what do I roll?)
  472. Jolteon: ( 1d20-2. What's the range on it? It'll hit everyone within range. Enemy and ally alike. )
  473. Taillow: (er...can I fly overland?)
  474. Jolteon: ( Yes. )
  475. Taillow: (it's range is 5)
  476. Taillow: (how many blocks may I move?)
  477. Theodore: (Your Sky capability, I would assume)
  478. Jolteon: ( Take a look at Taillows Sky speed. That number is the number of squares you can move. Since it's flight you may move over people. )
  479. Taillow: (sweet)
  480. Jolteon: ( That would be the range of your growl. )
  481. Theodore: Nice.
  482. Mike: (*clapclap*)
  483. * Taillow took off into the sky, flipped around in mid-air and let out an angry GROWL.
  484. Theodore: (That's a huge burst range.)
  485. Jolteon: ( Burst 5. )
  486. Taillow: ( lowers legal target's attack 1 combat range, not quite sure what that means)
  487. Mike: (It's Pokemon Math speak for "will not Tackle as hard")
  488. Jolteon: ( It lowers it's attack stat by a percent. )
  489. Theodore: (It means they deal less damage with physical attacks)
  490. Jolteon: ( So, make your roll. )
  491. Taillow: « 1d20-2 = 7 - 2 = 5 »
  492. * Jolteon looked a little less fierce after that growl!
  493. Lauren has received initiative.
  494. Mike: (Hm.)
  495. Theodore: (Fall back! I have no Medic features yet!)
  496. Lauren: "Lime, hit 'im with some string, then get back on my shoulder. Okay?"
  497. Lime: "pie!"
  498. * Lime shoots a stream of silk at the Jolteon, hoping to trip it up some. « d20-3 = 19 - 3 = 16 »
  499. * Jolteon is sprayed with sticky string! ( -1 speed combat stage. )
  500. * Lime will then also get back on Lauren's shoulder.
  501. Lauren: "Right, y'all mind if I just stand fer a spell behind ya? Because OW."
  502. Theodore has received initiative.
  503. Theodore: "Yes, get to safety, young'n!"
  504. Lauren: (Will the Jolteon be able to reach me here? Just makin' sure.)
  505. Theodore: "Now, let's see what we can do about weakening it. Snout, use Tackle!"
  506. Jolteon: ( Not without jumping into the water. )
  507. Lauren: (good enough to me)
  508. Snout: « 1d20-3 = 2 - 3 = -1 » Tackle!
  509. Snout: *facepalms*
  510. Mike: (...)
  511. Jolteon: ( Tackle is a dash so you'll need to move and that's a miss. )
  512. Mike: (no, no, hit the Pokemon, not the bridge.)
  513. Theodore: (Not our finest moment... and not a good sign of things to come.)
  514. Jolteon: ( Did you move Snout's token? )
  515. Theodore: (No... why?)
  516. Jolteon: ( Tackle is a Dash. It requires you move when you use the attack. )
  517. Theodore: (ah. Right.)
  518. Theodore: Works for me then.
  519. Jolteon has received initiative.
  520. * Jolteon makes an angry face at the two getting in the way of his prey! He charges toward Theodore! « 1d20-3 = 1 - 3 = -2 »
  521. Mike: (...)
  522. * Jolteon and slips up on the bridge!
  523. Theodore: (REVENGE)
  524. Tobi has received initiative.
  525. Taillow: « 1d20-2 = 14 - 2 = 12 »
  526. * Taillow attempts to peck at the Jolteon
  527. Taillow: « 1d12+6 = 9 + 6 = 15 »
  528. Jolteon: ( « 15+8 = 15 + 8 = 23 » )
  529. Jolteon: « (23-6)/2 = (23 - 6) / 2 = 8.5 »
  530. Jolteon: Jolteon loses 9 hit points.
  531. * Jolteon seemed to take less damage than it should've from that attack but it left a few good cuts.
  532. Lauren has received initiative.
  533. Mike: (So: Play it safe, or go for guts and glory? Who's got an opinion?)
  534. Jolteon: ( Oh wait, did Tobi want to do something? )
  535. Jolteon: ( I noticed only Ace went. )
  536. Taillow: (can I attack? I've got no weapons)
  537. Jolteon: ( You can. )
  538. Theodore: (You have a body. Use that.)
  539. Theodore: (Or club it with your Tailow.)
  540. Taillow: (I'll try and grapple it)
  541. Theodore: (XD)
  542. Lauren: (Tailow is not Mr. Fish. >.>)
  543. Tobi: (lol...)
  544. Tobi: (is it a strength check?)
  545. Jolteon: ( So, do a 1d20-6 for your attack roll and then damage will be 1D10+4+your STR, DEX or CON modifier. Whichever is higher. )
  546. Tobi: « 1d20-6 = 2 - 6 = -4 »
  547. * Tobi attempts to grab the Jolteon
  548. * Jolteon evades Tobi's unpolished grapple!
  549. Jolteon: ( Now, Lauren may go. >.> )
  550. Lauren: (Okay. Question one: Diagonal movement only takes 1 square, right? Or are we doing pythagorean shenanigans?)
  551. Theodore: (What.)
  552. Lauren: (And two, if I throw a Pokeball, do my allies block my line of sight?)
  553. Jolteon: ( Your movement is equal to what maptools says. Sometimes it's 1 sometimes it's 2. It calculates that. )
  554. Lauren: (cool beans. And #2?)
  555. Jolteon: ( As for throwing your Pokeball people count as rough terrain, thus, throwing or attacking through them adds +2 to the accuracy check. )
  556. Lauren: (Okay. The valiant never taste of death but once!)
  557. Theodore: (I almost hope you fail. I want to catch this thing too!)
  558. Lime: * Lime leaps off of Lauren's shoulder, and scurries behind the Jolteon - going in for a Tackle at the ankles!
  559. Lime: « d20-3 = 4 - 3 = 1 » Tackle!
  560. Jolteon: ( Successfully hits! )
  561. Lime: « 2d8+6+1 = 10 + 6 + 1 = 17 » Physical damage! Even the Caterpie is surprised that he managed to connect...
  562. Mike: (How's Jolteon look?)
  563. Jolteon: Jolteon loses 11 hit points.
  564. * Lime curls upwards, trying to bring itself to an imposing height. "CaaaaaterPIE!"
  565. * Jolteon is caught off guard by the Tackle and nearly falls over!
  566. Theodore: (and thus the Pokeball battle begins)
  567. * Lauren blinks, but it doesn't take more than a split second for her to reach for a Pokeball. "...Here we go - Pokeball!"
  568. Lauren: (Now. Rolls for to-hit on this, because I believe you have those.)
  569. Jolteon: ( AC check is 6 as per normal. +2 for rough terrain. )
  570. Jolteon: ( You can roll capture yourself or I can do those secretly. )
  571. Theodore: (so it would be 1d20-2)
  572. Lauren: (you mean d20-8, right?)
  573. Lauren: (oof. But why not!)
  574. Jolteon: ( 1D20-8 )
  575. Theodore: (ah. yeah. That.)
  576. * Lauren is still a bit too hurt and surprised to try and hustle through the scrum, so she throws from here - lobbing up, over the humans, and (hopefully) hitting the Jolteon!
  577. Lauren: « d20-8 = 18 - 8 = 10 » (And go ahead and roll it secretly, because that sounds fun. Normal Pokeball, so d100+5 I believe.) (*closes eyes*)
  578. Kaorin Sakura: « 1d100+5 = 41 + 5 = 46 »
  579. * Jolteon is hit in the head with a PokéBall unexpectantly and the ball swallows the creature whole in a flash of white light.
  580. * Lauren nearly pushes the other two humans off the bridge to watch it wriggle!
  581. Tobi: "Oooooh."
  582. Theodore: (A+B+DOWN)
  583. Lauren: "C'mon... stay in there..."
  584. Pokeball: Lands on the bridge and rolls a bit. Shake. Shake.. Shake... Ka-Chuckt!! The ball gives a successful chime as the Jolteon is captured!
  585. Tobi: "Nice job!"
  586. Lauren: "WHOO!"
  587. Tobi: "Are you alright though?"
  588. Theodore: "Good catch there!
  589. Theodore: "Yeah, you don't look so good."
  590. Tobi has received initiative.
  591. * Lauren leaps, happily, and pulls a muscle from the bruise the Jolteon left. "Guh-! Y-yeah..."
  592. Narrator: Jolteon has been added to your Pokéhome. All of its stats are listed there.
  593. * Lauren picks the Pokeball up, and then offers her arm back to Lime. "...You...are just a li'l MVP, ain'tcha? So proud... ow."
  594. Lime: "Piiie~!"
  595. Narrator: Jolteon grants 45 XP to everyone.
  596. Theodore: "I think we'd better get you some medical attention."
  597. * Taillow jumps around examining the bug
  598. * Lime is feeling so good about himself, that he doesn't even care about the so-much-bigger bird behind him.
  599. Lime: ...because he is Da Caterpie, as far as he is concerned.
  600. Narrator: ( Oh whoops. Sorry. >.> The 45 XP is actually 135 XP. 135 XP to everyone. )
  601. Taillow: (sweet)
  602. Theodore: (AWESOME)
  603. Taillow: (where do we put that?)
  604. Narrator: There's an XP spot.
  605. Narrator: It's Total XP under Level.
  606. * Lime gives the Tailow a smug look, but then retreats up Lauren's arm.
  607. Taillow: (I see MaxHP under level)
  608. Narrator: Oh, you mean here.
  609. Taillow: (oooh...you mean on the sheets, sure)
  610. Narrator: The tokens don't keep track of that here but if you want to, there's anotes section.
  611. Narrator: a notes *
  612. Narrator: As its midnight, I think this is a safe spot to close. Right after a battle and a capture.
  613. Theodore: Fair enough.
  614. Taillow: sure
  615. Taillow: that's interesting
  616. Mike: (Ayep! And I got Jolteon's stats. Uh, do I get to restat his level-up points?)
  617. Narrator: ( You don't. Not unless you change the base relation somehow. )
  618. Mike: (gotcha. Good to know the precedent too.)
  619. Mike: (I'll name it on the morrow. I had fun!)
  620. Narrator: I'm glad you did!
  621. Mike: (And thank you everyone else for helping me both Not Die and also softening it up.)
  622. Narrator: The first sessions are usually the slowest.
  623. Theodore: There we go. Fixed my base stats. Darn nature issues.
  624. Taillow: (made friends with dinner)
  625. Mike: (save da log!)
  626. Narrator: In which case, I'll save the log here and put it up on pastebin.
  627. Narrator: ./end!
