Ryan St Marie Just to be clear, we use exactly TWO antibiotics in agriculture in the USA, and the effects of those are quite well documented. Like organic copper sprays...only the two antibiotics we use don't cause sterility and cancer.

Just for your information, I wasn't saying the antibiotics are bad, just that the pesticides /can/ be. And yes, I hate to knock you off your pillow of ignorance, but capitalism actually can mean that things go under the radar, and you never know it's happening until it's exposed. Biologists create new GMO species to PREVENT using pesticides, not to use MORE. They modify them so that people don't starve, or so that a culture who doesn't get enough of a particular nutrient because of their diet is so dramatically lacking in it(golden rice). I am sick and tired of seeing people, like you, spreading sensational nonsense in the name of cognitive dissonance. You're hurting people that don't know better because they don't have access to the scientific articles, and the education, that the west has.

Ryan St Marie The reason they wear suits is multi part, and the lack of understanding is what allows fear mongering on this issue to persist. They wear the suits because 1) the pesticide is aerosolized and is able to be absorbed thru the skin and mucus membranes, allowing it to pass the blood brain barrier. The second reason has to do with how often one is exposed to these chemicals. Eating something that has had pesticides used on it is not the same as taking a bath in said chemical, or inhaling said chemical into the body. A good example of this is addicts who snort pain killers. The bioavailability of those chemicals is much larger when it can pass the blood brain barrier, and new formulations of many popular narcotics have zero analgesic effect when taken orally to reduce dependency issues. The same thing applies to "bad chemicals" in many cases. The Glyphosate that USED to be the most widely used pesticide until it was identified to have "potential carcinogens", yet when bacon was identified to be more harmful then glyphosate, the bulk of the population didn't scream running for the hills. They said "Bullshit, we've been eating this for hundreds of years, it's fine. I also didn't see many ladies lining up to get their all natural tampons either, as glyphosate is a primary ingredient in most tampons.
