Pros:
1. An even playing field. Less bullying, teasing, and opportunity for children to be picked on or shunned for their clothes.
2. More economical. Designed to stand up to everyday use and repeated washing so students do not need large wardrobes.
3. Clear dress code. Saves teachers and staff time that would be wasted on making sure specific dresscodes are met.
4. More focus on education for the students. They feel more professional and behave accordingly.
5. Uniforms will make it easier to identify those who are not from the school and therefore increase security/safety.
6. Diminish economic and social barriers between students.
7. Increase a sense of belonging and school pride.
8. Help prevent gangs from forming on campus.


Cons:
1. Violate a student's right to freedom of expression.
2. Are simply a Band-Aid on the issue of school violence.
3. Are a financial burden for poor families.
4. Are an unfair additional expense for parents who pay taxes for a free public education.
5. Are difficult to enforce in public schools
6. A child wearing uniform can be the target for bullying of students from different schools.
