- Fantasy Life FAQ v1
- >What is Fantasy Life?
- Fantasy Life is a role-playing game. You will find yourself in the land of Reveria where people take up 'Lives'.
- >Is this game like Animal Crossing?
- Barely. The only similarities are the ‘comfy’ atmosphere as there is really no pressure and you can do whatever you want. There is also the ability to furnish your house with items, although similar to AC, it is not as fleshed out.
- Is this game like Rune Factory?
- “The only things that Fantasy Life doesn’t share with RF are the relationship elements, and farming elements. Fantasy Life does not have any marriage or dating, nor does it have farming. Crafting? Yes. A lot. Item drops to make higher quality things like armor and clothing? Yep. Food? You betcha!”
- “A more laid back, comfy version of Rune Factory.”
- >How long is this game?
- You can easily get 100+ hours out of it.
- >Does this game have weather effects or seasons?
- No.
- >Can I play with non-DLC people if I have the DLC, and vice versa?
- No.
- “Please note: Players who have purchased the Origin Island Expansion Pack cannot connect in multiplayer with players who have not purchased it. Multiplayer connection will only be possible with other owners of the Expansion Pack.”
- >What does the DLC include?
- - A totally new area to explore, with loads of new quests
- - Extra elements for character customisation
- - New materials, new ranks and new recipes
- - New types of pets: birds and dragons!
- - A new holiday home, new home décor and additional items
- - The Friendship system: allies that you take along on adventures repeatedly will become more friendly towards you, and the more they like you, the better they are in a scrap!
- - Exclusive items to exchange for Lunares Coins
- - Level cap increased from 99 to 200
- - Level cap for the skills increased from 15 to 20
- - Stats cap increased from 50 to 100
- >Should I buy the DLC before starting?
- You will have access to the new character building options when beginning, able to buy the DLC exclusive pets, and the friendship system will be available from the get-go.
- >How do I unlock the DLC?
- ***SPOILERS***
- - Complete the main story
- - Befriend both Yuelia and Noelia
- - Yuelia: automatically becomes an ally after completing the main story
- - Noelia: reach character level 45
- - Reach level 50
- - After completing the above, go and speak with Yuelia at your house
- >How many save slots are there?
- 3.
- >Does this game auto-save?
- No.
- >What are Lives?
- Lives are pretty much 'classes'. There are 12 to choose from, and they are split into 3 subgroups.
- There are 4 combat Lives:
- Paladin
- Mercenary
- Hunter
- Magician
- 3 gathering Lives:
- Miner
- Woodcutter
- Angler
- 5 crafting Lives:
- Cook
- Blacksmith
- Carpenter
- Tailor
- Alchemist
- >Which Life should I begin with?
- There isn't a 'right' Life to begin with, but it is suggested to begin with a combat Life.
- It is also recommended to start the gathering Lives early so you can gather materials while exploring, rather than purchasing everything. You will also need to cut 500 trees and mine 500 times, so best start early.
- >Can I change my Life?
- Yes, you can change your Life for no cost by visiting a Guild Office.
- >Stats/how should I allocate stats?
- There are 6 different stats. Strength, Vitality, Intelligence, Focus, Dexterity, and Luck.
- See http://fantasy-life.wikia.com/wiki/Stats for how each stat affects your Lives.
- Every time you level up, you will gain 2 stat points to allocate. Every time you reach a level divisible by 10 (10, 20, 30, etc), you will gain 3 instead of 2.
- You could go for a balanced distribution of stats, but you won't be able to maximise and get the most out of each stat.
- If you chose Paladin/Mercenary, put your stats into Strength and Vitality. If you took this path, you should also begin Lives as a Blacksmith, Miner, Woodcutter, and Carpenter as they also benefit from Strength and Vitality.
- If you chose Hunter/Magician, put your stats into mainly Focus, Intelligence, and Dexterity. If you took this path, you should also begin Lives as a Tailor, Angler, Cook, and Alchemist as they also benefit from the aforementioned stats.
- >If I change my Life, can I still use the skills I learnt in other Lives?
- Yes, once you learn a skill, it will be able to be used no matter the Life. But the special/supercharged skills are Life specific.
- Some Life quests also require you to be that specific Life to complete, e.g. ‘defeat x and cash in the bounty as y.’
- Also, a Life’s skills will level up quicker if you are currently that Life, e.g. your woodcutting skill will increase faster if you are a Woodcutter.
- >What am I missing out on by skipping the Life tutorial?
- A short story, an introduction to that Life’s important NPCs and the basics of the skills you will learn. Also, a minor 500/600 Dosh.
- >Can I change my appearance after beginning?
- You can change your hair, yes.
- In order to completely overhaul your character, you will need the DLC and a special item.
- >How do I take screenshots?
- Talk to one of the clerks at the back of the Castele Guild Office. Screenshots can then be taken by pressing START or SELECT.
- >I defeated an enemy and they turned into a box?!
- These are called ‘bounties’. They will have ‘health’ of their own and enemies will try to destroy it. The aim is to drag them to a Bounty Clerk in exchange for Dosh and a special item. You can carry maximum 3 bounties at a time and 3 bounties can exist in one area at one time.
- Bounties will remain wherever you leave them, unless they are destroyed or a new bounty appears which will ‘overwrite’ one of the existing 3 bounties.
- >How do I invite pets/NPCs to join my party?
- Press X on them and then Y.
- >How do I remove pets/NPCs from my party?
- Go to the menu, ‘Status’, select the NPC/pet and then Y to remove.
- >Bliss rewards?
- By completing Flutter’s requests and filling milestones (e.g. spend 50 hours in Reveria), you will receive Bliss points. Speak to Flutter to see the Bliss you’ve accumulated and receive special awards.
- It is recommended to firstly unlock the extra bag space.
- >Pets?
- You can have a maximum of 3 pets. To be eligible to get pets, you must unlock the ‘Pet’ Bliss rewards.
- Dragons and Birds are part of the DLC.
- >Special items via passwords?
- Go to the Castele Post Office (top right of Castele Square, under the Library).
- >Is the online multiplayer region locked?
- Nope.
- >How do I advance the story? It just says ‘Explore Reveria.’
- Check your Quests and then Flutter’s Requests. Complete those and then speak to Flutter to progress the story.
- >Multiplayer?
- Just copied and pasted from GAMEFAQS.
- “Multiplayer allows you and two other people (total of 3) to visit your world and go on adventures. While in someone’s world, you are free to craft, fight monsters, trade and turn in bounties and travel to different parts of the map on your own.
- NOTE: You cannot travel to a place on the map that has not been unlocked yet. For example, I cannot travel to the second town in your world if you haven’t beaten that chapter of the story.
- Things you can do in Multiplayer:
- - Fast Travel
- - Trade items/equipment/clothing
- - Fight big monsters and receive bounty items
- - Complete life challenges.
- Things you CANNOT do in Multiplayer:
- - Bring pets along
- - Side or Main quests *NOTE If you’ve accepted a side quest before you went online
- - Save (This may change. I did test this but a second confirmation is appreciated)
- When fighting monsters, all players involved in fighting monsters will receive money and experience. What is not shared is the item from a bounty box. The best suggestion is to speak before hand about who will receive the bounty prize. Enemies respawn fairly quickly so the bounty box rewards can be easily gotten again. Another option is going to your friend’s world and getting a bounty there.
- VERY IMPORTANT NOTE WHEN USING MULTIPLAYER
- - You can only trade items when multiplayer is open. Use the red box in the Guild Office to trade items (Total of 8 spots open) between each other. When you go to pick up an item, the game will ask if you want to save to which you respond yes.
- DO NOT PUT AN ITEM IN THE BOX THEN SHUT OFF MULTIPLAYER. THE ITEM WILL DISAPPEAR.”
- >I’m missing some quests/stars, I can’t rank up!
- Each Life has a group of important NPCs, they will have question marks above their head. They will sometimes give you items, quests, or just information.
- See http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/971712-fantasy-life/70273599 for a list of each Life’s NPCs and the individual Life shops.
- >Where do I find item ‘x’?
- Check the shop list at http://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/971712-fantasy-life/faqs/70335
- If it isn’t listed there, it cannot be purchased and is probably a monster drop.
- If you still can’t find whatever you’re looking for, just ask /flg/.
- >There is a tree/ore with a crown and I can barely damage it!
- Ignore it and come back when you have levelled up more and have stronger equipment.
- >How do I get special trees/ores/fish/bosses to respawn?
- Sleep in your bed or at an inn.
- >When do the smaller trees/ores/fish respawn?
- Move 2 areas away then return.
- >What is the Wish, and can I change it?
- It is used for your StreetPass message, and no.
