  6. Akran (PL Akranites/Akrans: One Akran, many Akranites/Akrans, Descriptive Akric)
  7.
  8. The Akranite's home planet of Akranis was but a small, sandy marble in the infinite sky. A desert planet with several fresh water "super-lakes" akin to small oceans, it is only fitting that a species of cold blood and sharp wit would dominate their surroundings.
  9. The Akranites lived a peaceful, sedentary life around their lakes, growing economically and technologically with little social change. Many Akranites, in the system's millenia before the Enemy arrived, had chosen to take on previously unheard of longevity. The first subjects have yet to die of natural causes, but those that had volunteered for experimentation with the technology had died of almost all unnatural causes, with the exception of tests on asphyxiation through chemical and physical means. These mechanical modifications, powered by advanced, rechargeable hydrogen fuel cells, also protect against disease through bloodstream-nanobots and, for short periods of time, muscle augmentations allow the LIZARD to lift up to thrice their body weight (at Earth Gravity - 9.807 m/sĀ²). These augmented members of their species are the last of their kind to escape their home world, Akranis, before it was glassed by the Enemy.
  10. The modern LIZARD follow an intra-ship tribal structure of cooperation and respect, abandoning their previous urban lifestyles. Their loyalty to one another derived from their long life spans, which serve as both a detriment to their species' social advances and a boon to individual and group knowledge. As such, their primary purpose in racially heterogeneous societies was as keepers of history.
  11. Unfortunately, due to the LIZARD's long lifespan and natural genetics in general, procreation is limited to females of an age between 35 and 125 Akric years, and males of ages between 50 and 200 Akric years. A full head count hasn't been done since the group's frigate-class exploratory vessel has left Akranis, but it is safe to assume that about 15% of the ship's population is breeding-capable, which should remain more than enough to ensure the survival of the species -at least in this social group- for the long haul, so long as they stay out of harm's way.
  12. Side note: As far as the Akrans on the ship are concerned, they are the last known members of the Akric race.
