  1. The notes are meant to be used with Team 1, using Kotemon as your main Digimon.
  2. They will not include detailed info on maps and circuit boards, since I drew out what I needed to in my handwritten notes.
  3. These will also not include info on random battles, since most of them are straight foward attack + counter OR need to be routed on the fly to fit in turns of healing.
  4. These notes serve only to guide runners that already have some basic speedrun knowledge on the game (watching VODs is enough, although playing a test run before jumping into RTA attempts is encouraged).
  5.
  6. ABOUT ROUTING BATTLES ON THE FLY:
  7. A lot of battles in DW3 speedruns need to have adjustments on the overall strategy due to crits/evades and whatnot. When fighting random battles always remember to heal IN BATTLE, since it is a lot faster than opening your menu and healing everytime you need to do it. When routing on the fly always have in mind all the possible outcomes of the actions you are doing (even considering crits and evades), do not yolo unless you feel it's worth it. Routing on the fly is a important skill DW3 runners should develop to run this game, since it will be used for sure on non-TAS runs.
  8.
  9. ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF MOVEMENT:
  10. In my testings I found out that the encounters always happen after a certain amount of steps, determined for each next encounter by RNG (this excludes fixed encounter places, although those encounters do not reset the step count). The step count does not reset after changing maps and do not increase when walking in cities/places that can't have encounters. Thus, doing really good/perfect movement not only save the frames you would be losing goofing around, but over the course of a run can save 5~6 encounters over a bad movement run.
  11. Some tips on perfecting movement would be: always focus with your mind on the next maps and next movements you need to do. When changing maps, always think about the first direction you need to go and already hold your analog stick/directional buttons in that direction. When changing maps always change it on the edges of the change-maps-section (the edge closer to the place you are coming from).
  12.
  13. ROUTE:
  14. - First minutes: Mash X, Hot Head on Kuwagamon. Deposit Patamon on the Lab.
  15. - Get 300 BIT at sewers, get 300 BIT at the Inn. Buy 7 Power Charges, buy the 200 BIT sword.
  16. - Get the Buckler, do not skip the sure-encounter in Wire Forest. Heal at forest Inn. Get the Bandana.
  17. - Seyriu City: Sell Buckler and Bandana, buy one 500 BIT Sword. Heal at the Inn. SPEAK TO THE KID IN SEYRIU TOWER.
  18. - Protocol Ruins: get Dinohumon, digi activate it. Talk to Seyriu Leader.
  19. - Go to Leomon: train 10 TP in Power (4/4 or reset), 10TP in defense (preferably 3/4 or more) (level 5).
  20. - Plug Cape: battle Triceramons till you get TNT Ball. Requires a minimum of Level 7 + 1 triceramon EXP to get out.
  21. - Leomon: Train 10TP in Speed (3/4 or more is highly recommended).
  22. - Master Tyrannomon: Should be at Dinohumon 10, kill him with Frost Cutter + Heals.
  23. - Seyriu City: Buy another 500 BIT Sword, 2-3 Power Charges if needed. Buy the best Helmet and Gym Suit. Heal at Inn
  24. - Seyriu Leader: Frost Cutter your way through. If you Blast here it is a huge time save. If you don't, that means that your stats are beast and you can just frost cutter for the win.
  25. - Buy for Renamon the cheapest armors in Seyriu, then one or two weapons if you still need a little charisma for 210. If you are short on less than 5 points put Renamon on front while going to Asuka and level her a bit.
  26. - Asuka City: get El Dorado ID, sell all your equipment and then go buy the auction. Sell the auction item, get the 2 handed sword, Wing Helm and Dark Armor (if it was 4/4 in defense training you can get Dark Suit). Get 4 Life Disks and 50 Power Charges.
  27. - Go to South Station. Go to Asuka City and meet Keith: kill Triceramon with Frost Cutter and then the rest with Heat Cutter.
  28. - Talk to the Guilmon at Asuka Inn, then heal. Train 20 TP in Speed (level 11).
  29. - Trigger Guilmon at Forest Inn, then at Seyriu Inn. Go to South Station, then back to Seyriu City Guilmon. Go to Forest Inn Basement Guilmon.
  30. - Go to South Station. Bulbmon: if your speed training sucked he can double turn you. Frost cutter and heal sustain him.
  31. - Menu heal before Jungle Grave to avout Musyamons (if you meet one, run and then pray). Talk to Zanbamon.
  32. - Talk to Gatomon in Swamp Inn, then heal there. Talk to Sepikmon. Go back to Baronmon at Protocol Ruins.
  33. - Talk to Sepikmon in Asuka bridge, then go talk to Etemon in Asuka City.
  34. - Talk to Nick at Divermon's Lake. Talk back to Etemon in Asuka City. Talk to etemon at Asuka Sewers. Train 10 TP in speed (level 13).
  35. - Back to Sepikmon, get smelly herb. Talk to Zanbamon and get past.
  36. - Heal if needed in Susaku City, then Susaku Leader: heat cutter first digimon, he will switch. Then heat cutter twice the next one. Before killing Woodmon be at full health for Shogun Gekomon - pray that he does not confuse you first turn, then 2x Frost Cutter to kill.
  37. - If you have not healed in Susaku City, heal at Asuka after the cutscene. GET THE AUCTION, then go talk to the Lamb Shop guy.
  38. - Talk to one of the coloured Agumons, then talk to Mat at the sewers. Enter the lab, get Patamon back and load Heat Cutter, exit the lab by going to main Lobby and talk to Kail.
  39. - Talk to Mat on the sewers again, then talk to Kail in the sewers. Go to Admin Center, get the GM cutscene. After that, sell the auction and buy 1 Life Plug and the maximum Super Charges you can carry.
  40. - Go all the way to Phoenix Bay and trigger the girl in the middle of the bridges. Check the house at Bios Swamp.
  41. - Talk to Sepikmon. On Protocol Ruins Talk to Baronmon TWICE. Back to the house at Bios Swamp get Digiegg of Sincerity.
  42. - Use the Seabed in the next screen, RUN FROM GESOMONS (and be on full life to face them). Train 10 TP SPD at Leomon (lvl 15).
  43. - Counter Crest Grind: here depends on your speed. If you double turn at the second turn, frost cutter x3 and then heal on one each 3/4 battles (on the battle, it is better to waste turns than healing by menu). If you outspeed them on the third turn, frost cutter x2 and then heal -> frost cutter. If this takes too long you might need to spend your Life Plug, although that fucks up your MP at AoA Troopers.
  44. - Plug Cape Seabed. Train 10 TP in SPD (lvl 17). Heal at Pelche Oasis. Go to Byakko City, battle the Fake Leader: Heat Cutter + Counter + Heat Cutter on both Numemon.
  45. - Talk to the guards on top of the stairs, then go see Numemon.
  46. - Go to Mirage tower, then fight Byakko Leader: use Double Power at Flymon, counter then Lizard dance. Route Tortomon on the fly so that either he kills himself or you enter Mamemon within the second turn of a double turn; you must enter Mamemon either at full health or with 1 hit from Tortomon AND with 2 Double Powers active. Hit Lizard Dance at Mamemon for over 800 damage (red health at this point). Even if he freezes you turn 1 it is unlikely that you will die with this setup.
  47. - Heal at Pelche Oasis, do the Dum Dum Factory sequence. Use the chips and heal before Hi-Andromon: Lizard Dance + Counter + Lizard Dance. If he uses his OHKO move, just life disk and keep going.
  48. - Waru Monzaemon: should have Kyukimon by now. Counter kill him with 2 counters, heal between them (don't attack).
  49. - Secret Base -> Monzaemon and Nanimon should be done with Heat Cutter + Counter like any west sector random encounter.
  50. - Seabed to Central Sector, train 20 TP SPD with Leomon (level 21). Use the Seabed to go to Datamon: this fight should be easy with 2 counters to kill. If you feel 2 counters will do the job just heal between his attacks. If he starts to heal himself outdamage his heal with Heat Cutter.
  51. - TALK AN EXTRA TIME TO DATAMON AFTER BEATING HIM.
  52. - Go back to Secret Room, [Heal at Pelche Oasis if needed] then go to South Cape through South Badland. Seabed to Susaku UG Lake, then Secret Room again. Try not to use much MP in this segment since it will be needed with AoA Troopers.
  53. - Seabed to Centra Sector. Train 10 TP SPD in Leomon (level 23 or 24). Go talk to Datamon.
  54. - AoA Troopers:
  55. Raremon and Cyclonemon: Burn Slash + Counter + Attack on Raremon, then Burn Slash + Counter on Cyclonemon.
  56. Guardromon and Tankmon: Burn Slash + Counter on Guardromon, then Burn Slash + Super Charge + Counter on Tankmon (repeat if 2 Tankmon).
  57. If your MP ends before Asuka Inn, use one Life Plug if you have it.
  58. - Heal in Asuka City Inn before Game Master if needed. Venmon: Burn Slash + Counter + Attack. Do the M O N S T E R stuff at Master Room.
  59. - Maildramon: straight foward BSlash / Heal and Counter for the win.
  60. - Game Master: first 2 Digimons just go BSlash and Counter. Arrive at Persiamon with good health and possibly in your turn, then go BSlash + Counter. If she Helter Sketer just go with Kotemon countering and Hot Heading (it is not worth to re-digivolve).
  61. - Train 20 TP SPD at Leomon (level 27). Go to West Sector. Heal at Pelche Oasis. Talk to Fake Byakko Leader.
  62. - Go to Susaku City, talk to Patamon on Leader Room. Go to Jungle Shrine, talk to Susaku Leader. USE THE INVISIBLE LADDER!
  63. - On Bulbmon II just BSlash and Counter till he is dead. Heal at Forest Inn.
  64. - Qing Long Leader: on Deltamon go Blade Twister and Counter. On Triceramon go twice Blade Twister and Counter. Kimeramon should be Super Charge + 3 Blade Twisters that should fit on the fly depending on how he makes you sleep.
  65. - Shell Beach Seabed, go to Phoenix Bay and then Zhu Que City. Heal at Zhu Que Inn.
  66. - Zhu Que Leader: on first just BSlash + Counter + 2x BSlash. Second digimon just Counter + BT + Counter. Third should be Heal + BT + Counter. If it does not go this way just go on the fly, should be an easy fight.
  67. - ZHU QUE UG LAKE -> TAKE DIGIEGG OF KNOWLEDGE.
  68. - Go to South Cape AM, train 10 TP in SPD (level 29/30). Seabed to West Sector AM, go to Mirage Tower, talk to Resistance Leader and heal with Gatomon.
  69. - Take South Badland middle hole on AM, then South Badland bottom hole on AS. Arrive at Frost Mountain.
  70. - Genbu City: buy one Life Plug, switch Renamon with Kotemon. Renamon should level to 5 on Genbu Leader, then you should level Kyubimon till level 4 on the upcomming encounters.
  71. - Genbu Leader: Renamon should blast if Vikemon goes first. Switch to Kotemon and counter kill Vikemon - DO NOT ATTACK VIKEMON, HE COUNTERS. On MetalEtemon let him hit himself till red with counter, then finish him; if you get him to red he will heal to 100%. On Antylamon just BT + Counter + BT.
  72. - Digi-Switch to Kyubimon. Heal at Genbu Inn and then go to Ice Dungeon.
  73. - Ice Witch: just a straight foward BT + Counter + BT. Fire Knight is basically the same.
  74. - Dark Knight: BT should one shot all of his digimons, but care for critical hits. Route on the fly if shit happens (it is likely to happen).
  75. - Heal at Gatomon and then take the 3 minutes break at Magasta.
  76. - Go to Boot Mountain and take the Hole to Plug Cape. Go to Asuka City Master Room and watch the cutscene.
  77. - Central Park Middle Hole to Jungle Grave AM. Go to South Cape and train 20 TP in SPD (Level 33).
  78. - Seabed to Bai Hu City. Heal, sell all the weapons, buy Atlas Buster, Matrix Helmet and the armor there. Buy 10 Life Disks and 4 Life Plugs.
  79. - Bai Hu Leader: BT and Counter straight foward for the win.
  80. - Use North Badland E top Hole to get to Freeze Mountain AM. Heal at Xuan Hu City.
  81. - Xuan Hu Leader: BT and Counter again, beware his digimons hit for over 1,3k and can 2 shot Kotemon. Always be on 100% HP when taking hits.
  82. - Boot Mountain AM Hole to Plug Cape AM. On AM City buy Gulf Sword, sell all Power and Super Charges. Buy 99 Ultra Charges, 3 Guard Plugs, 20~30 Life Disks and Heal.
  83. - AoA Attackers: Route on the fly based on your stats and necessity to heal at this point. Beware their Digimons hit for over 1.2k
  84. - Knightmon: BT, Counter and Heal on the fly. Try to get to Magami President with as much health as you can.
  85. - Magami President: on MetalSeadramon just BT and Counter. VenomMyotismon should be done with 2 BTs in a double turn. Raidenmon should be done in 2 counters; don't attack him or else he will be generating, where he regains life and counters. He hits for 1.8k so be on full health or close to when facing him. Heal between his attacks.
  86. - DO NOT TALK TO LISA!!!!!! DO NOT TALK TO LISA!!!!!! DO NOT TALK TO LISA!!!!!! DO NOT TALK TO LISA!!!!!!
  87. - Central Park AM middle Hole to AS Central Park. Go to Master Room in AS Server. Go back in the same hole.
  88. - Train 10-15 TP in SPIRIT and the rest in SPD at the black Leomon. Heal at AM Inn and go to the Master Room. Enter Gunslinger.
  89. - Run from everything here obviously. First block is straight foward. Second Block go: Down, then Up then straight foward.

  91. - Third block: Up warp, then Middle warp, then Up warp and then straight foward.
  92. - Armageddemon: BT and Counter straight foward, beware he hits for over 1.2k
  93. - If Kyubimon is not 5 before Lord Megadeath, use Renamon to enter this fight then switch to Kotemon.
  94. - Lord Megadeath: On Fujinmon go with BT and Counter till he is almost dieing. Then use a Guard Plug before he counter kills himself. On Sujinmon heal on the first turn if you still were not on full health. Counter kill him, if guard plug expires or he crits try to revive then use more guard plugs / counter with one hit blocked (be smart!). On Rajinmon use BT and Heal, on the middle of the fight use Life Plug to recover MP for galacticmon.
  95. - Galacticmon: enter this fight with Renamon leadering the team.
  96. Tail: Thunder Bolt then die with Kyubimon. Switch to Kyukimon and Life Disk Renamon. Kill the tail with regular attacks and Counters.
