- This is a list of settings which I feel most games should have. Mostly just using it to try and gather info to use for my own games.
- Main Menu/File Select:
- - File Select (3 separate save files)
- - Copy File
- - Delete File
- - Exit Game (Quit to desktop)
- --------------------------------------------------
- Gameplay:
- - Language
- - Control Tips On/Off (Disables control "tips" in the menus/HUD. Some players might consider it clutter and not want it, but it's a good thing to have for new players)
- - In-Game HUD On/Off (Depending on the game)
- - Pause on Window Unfocus
- --------------------------------------------------
- Video:
- - Windowed/Fullscreen/Borderless Window
- - Window Scale (For windowed mode. Allows the user to scale up the game by a certain amount to retain pixel perfect scaling)
- Brightness
- - VSync On/Off
- - FPS Counter
- - Monitor Selection (Maybe? A lot of indie games don't have this option, and I don't even think I can do it natively in GameMaker Studio 2)
- --------------------------------------------------
- Audio:
- - Master Volume
- - SFX Volume
- - Music Volume
- --------------------------------------------------
- Controls:
- - Fully Configurable Keybindings (Keyboard, Mouse, and Controller support)
- - Invert X/Y Axis
- - Vibration On/Off
- - Analog Deadzone
- - Mouse Lock (Don't let the mouse leave the window. Only really needed if the game uses the mouse outside of menus)
- --------------------------------------------------
- Other:
- - Reset To Default (For each individual setting category)
- - Credits (Maybe only after beating the game?)
- - In-Game Timer (For speedrunners)
