- To all guild leaders and members of the SoS community
- Many of you may have been aware that the current website has gone through a period of upheaval. We, the leaders of involved parties, wish to clarify the matter and let you know how we are moving forward. We hope that you will join us on the other side where we are starting anew. Be sure to read the final section of this letter - new and exciting things will be happening!
- Background
- There has been activity on the current website (sea-of-sorrows.com) that was purely malicious in nature and the result of one individual’s actions. To get to the point; the temporary admins of the old website - Oooh Yea and Ana - has conclusive proof that Evergreen, Penance, and as many as 20 other users, are all aliases of Barron, a community member. Barron also owns the website, meaning that he has complete control over the current website.
- As difficult as it may be to believe, the proof is conclusive and is the result of the Enjin logs showing all IPs associated with these accounts are the same IPs associated with Barron’s account. If you are in doubt of this proof, please contact isis.6803 (Oooh Yeaaa) in game or on Teamspeak.
- Moving Forward
- We wish to return the Sea of Sorrows to its former community feeling, that of a tight-knit, fun and transparent community. Unfortunately due to the revelations above and that the individual involved is currently the owner and an administrator of the website; we cannot guarantee a safe community at sea-of-sorrows.com.
- A group of former admins on the old website, and valued members of our community have set up a new Enjin website. To prevent this problem from happening again, we have created a dummy account to be the ‘owner’ of the website, and the person who controls this account will not be an administrator or have any power except to assign admin permissions to those chosen by the community.
- We welcome you to join Sea of Sorrow’s new website and continue the community as it was before. No doubt the move will be disruptive and trust may be lost in the community, but this is the way forward.
- Structure
- The new structure of the website will be as follows - all of this is also open up to discussion.
- Guild Leaders
-
-
Leaders are responsible for their members
-
All complaints about members will go firstly to their guild leaders for internal guild processes
-
Leaders must take responsibility for anyone they approve for the website, ensuring that they currently reside on the server
-
Leaders must not approve anyone not from their guilds
-
Leaders and officers can view administrative forums on the website, where the administration of the website can be discussed, and potential changes discussed.
-
Leaders and officers can also appeal on behalf of banned members if the members feel like they have been wronged.
-
- Administrators
-
-
Administrators will also be in charge of website layout and development
-
There will be a set amount of 3 administrators assigned to this website
-
At first, these will be appointed as Ana, Oooh Yeaaa, Nyx
-
We will later have a community vote to determine those in charge
-
Administrators only act on advice of moderators
-
Administrator enforce community rules set by the community
-
- Moderators
-
-
Moderators will caution users who are breaking rules or at risk of breaking rules
-
Moderators will not have any powers to delete or edit posts
-
Moderators can hide comments and move threads into the archive forum
-
Actions by moderators can be appealed and if appropriate, reverted
-
Appointment of moderators will be made at the discretion of the administrators
-
- Community
-
-
Please read the rules and regulations on the new website
-
No threads will be deleted - instead off-topic, spammy, or other abusive threads will be moved to an archive forum where users can appeal
-
Members are entitled to at least one warning before action is taken on subsequent breaches of community rules
-
- New Initiatives
- Onto exciting directions for our community! With the new website, we will be aiming to expand and include more areas of the server community. In particular, we are excited to approach more PvE guilds and transition from a WvW-focused community to encompass more areas of the Guild Wars 2 game. We encourage all guilds to have a presence on the website and engage with other guilds. Post videos of your most recent events, raids and activities and boast about your guild. Combine knowledge on new builds and patch notes! Join us for raffles and other events.
- We will be continuing the popular community WvW events and expand out into PvE events, including organised dungeon runs, boss events, and much more. With the advent of the megaserver system, it important that we stay together as a great community and remain as the most inclusive, transparent and friendly community to be part of.
- This letter is an open invitation for you, your guild, and comrades of the SoS community to join us in our new home at sosgw2.com. We hope that this letter clarifies the situation and if you or your guild members have any other questions, please contact isis.6803 in game. As difficult as this decision is, we feel like this is the best way forward.
- On behalf of the combined leadership of:
- BEAR, CNB, ENVY, ETA, Lust, PAIN, PAW, TS, WoR
