Late Night Phone Call - Mao

Kyoya's cell phone rang.

He was a light sleeper, so Kyoya woke up immediately. Kyoya sat up on his bed and looked around, the light in the room was still on. Looks like he fell asleep while reading a light novel.

The arms of the alarm clock by his bedside both pointed to the upper right. It was already 1:05.

Why would there be anyone calling at this hour? Who was calling?

Kyoya got down from his bed and picked up his cell phone from his desk.

"Ah, it's from the president."

After confirming the caller's identity, Kyoya took the call and put the cell phone to his ear.

"Um, Hello?"

"......"

At first the caller didn't speak at all, and Kyoya could only hear breathing coming from the other side.

After a while, the president's voice reached Kyoya's ears.

"......It's me."

"What's up? Something wrong?"

"Nothing much, just a little bored."

Kyoya let out a breath of relief. Seeing how the president was calling at this hour, he was worried something bad had happened.

"Well, that's not good. What should we do?"

"What? You won't be bothered?"

"Why?"

Kyoya asked back. Amatsuka Mao would normally always be filled with confidence, but for some reason through the phone her voice felt a little timid.

Actually, this was probably the first time Kyoya had talked with the president on the phone.

The GJ-Bu usually used text messages for communication, and they were always from Shion-san and Megumi-chan. The president always said "The buttons are so small, who could be bothered to type one button at a time?!" It seemed like the president wasn't adept at texting using her phone, but even still, she rarely called anyone.

"Well, don't you hate me?"

"Wait a second, why would I hate you, president?"

Kyoya was surprised, what was this person saying?

"Because I'm always causing you trouble, right?"

"Although it's a little annoying sometimes, but I've never felt troubled."

"You should've been sleeping just now, you're not bothered by me waking you up?"

"Ah, it's true I was sleeping, but the president's call came at just the right time. I fell asleep reading and didn't even change yet."

"Really?"

Kyoya wanted to switch the topic, but the president was still hanging on the old topic.

"Is that really really really really how you feel?"

"......I really fell sleep reading!"

"You aren't even smiling!"

Kyoya started laughing out loud.

"Not like I can see, anyways."

Even through the phone, Kyoya could tell that the president definitely had a smile on her face.

"Do you always sleep this late, president?"

"No."

The president lowered her voice, as if telling a secret.

"Only today, because I just ate a lot of chocolate......"

"How much exactly did you eat?"

"Enough to get a nosebleed."

"So it's true that you get a nosebleed from eating too much chocolate, I thought that was an urban legend."

"I know, right? I actually got a nosebleed."

"Then you really ate a ton of chocolate and can't get to sleep?"

"If you think it's annoying then you don't have to keep talking to me."

"I don't think it's annoying, I can talk with you until you feel like sleeping."

"Megu and Seira are already asleep so there's no one to talk to."

"Isn't Mori-san on duty 24 hours a day?"

"If she finds out I still haven't gone to bed I'll get yelled at, she doesn't let us pull all nighters."

The president on the other side of the phone felt a little different than how she usually was at the club. She must not be speaking as "the president" but as a normal girl. That's what Kyoya thought.

After that, the two of them talked for a long time, until Kyoya didn't get a response when he spoke, and he quitely hung up.

Kyoya yawned and crawled into his blanket.

Short, energetic, always arrogant and full of self confidence-

But in reality Amatsuka Mao gets lonely quite easily. May she have good dreams tonight.
