James was a frail child and prone to bouts of allergic attacks which were further neglected by the lack of a true mother as she had been institutionalized following the death of Jame's elder brother, John Jr. <br><br>

One night, the grounds-keeper, Thomas Logan, stormed the house armed with a shotgun and attempted to steal Elizabeth away with him.  When John Sr. tried to stop him, Thomas shot and killed him.  James, witness to his father's murder, charged as his mutation manifested.  With six bone claws that had erupted from between his knuckles, he attacked and killed Thomas before he was run off by Elizabeth.  Only moments later, Lady Howlett ended her life with the gun.<br>

James continued to live, slipping into the animal completely for a time before he was found and his humanity slowly returned.  He fought in Madripoor, World War I and II.  He journied to Japan for a time and then found himself a part of the CIA.  His life was changed, however, when he was captured and put into the Weapon X program.<br><br>

They tortured him.  They beat him.  They experimented on him and, through technology, they turned him into something less than even a feral animal.  Years of hell later, Logan finally fought through the programing enough to escape.  He slaughtered everyone that came in his way, still nearly mindless, like they were tissue.  His anger, rage, and fractured mind driving him forward to kill the ones that had so deeply violated him before escaping into the wilderness and becoming an animal once more.<br><br>

Wandering the woods, Logan was eventually discovered by Heather and James "Mac" Hudson, a young couple honeymooning in the Rockies, whom he attacked, only to be shot by Hudson, whom neither knew was Wolverine's cousin from his maternal Hudson line. While he recovered, Logan regained enough of his human persona to be horrified at his claws, believing them to be artificial implants. Recovering his mental faculties with the Hudson's help, Logan became a member of Canada's Department H, the superhuman-oriented government agency James Hudson founded.<br><br>

As Wolverine prepared to publicly debut as a super hero, the Canadian military mobilized to fight the Hulk who had begun a rampage across a province and Wolverine received orders  to deal with him.  The Hulk and Wolverine kept on fighting until the former grew so enraged that Wolverine's adamantium claws failed to penetrate his skin anymore; the Hulk emerged victorious and abandoned the unconscious Wolverine, unaware of his healing factor.  Returning to Department H, he continued for weeks more completing espionage missions but growing troubled by his service.<br><br>

Logan was soon contacted by the man known as Professor Xavier to join the team he was forming, known as the X-Men, and aid in making them as ready as possible for the threats that his team might face.  He spent a brief time working with and overseeing their training before leaving.  Xavier offered him a place on the team and, even though he refused, Logan was still granted a suit of his own and a place on the team anyway.  Before Wolverine left, Xavier offered what he could in the way of clearing Logan's mind of the damage it had suffered, somewhat subduing the animal that raged within, but he could do little else for him. <br><br>

In Los Angeles, Logan briefly encountered the female Punisher, Rachel Alves, and aided her in killing some goons before departing. A short time later, he met a woman, Ophelia Sarkissian, who claimed to know him from a mission they did together in the city of Madripoor.  She offered him a number to contact him in New York City should he ever find himself back.<br><br>
Logan returned to New York weeks later where he was sought out by Tony Stark and Pepper Pots to serve as an intermediate bodyguard/driver to replace the indisposed Happy Hogan.  Promised ten grand a week and benefits, he accepted the offer by dispatching a group of men that had planned to assault the pair, and perhaps trio.  </font></div>

He can regenerate greatly damaged or destroyed tissue with few seconds. Wolverine's accelerated healing powers have been commonly referred to as his mutant healing factor. The full extent and speed of Wolverine's healing factor isn't known. He has been shown to fully heal from numerous gunshot wounds, severe burns covering most of his body, and regenerate missing eyes within a matter of seconds. Adamantium plays a crucial role in the speed of Wolverine's healing as well because of the fact that it produces a poison that his immune system fights off regularly. This power even amends psychological wounds inflicted as a result of traumatic experiences. However, Wolverine's healing powers force his mind to suppress the memories, sometimes resulting in amnesia. Wolverine sometimes calls this his mental scar tissue. Wolverine's healing factor can cure him from the mystical curse of vampirism and werewolfism, but the later requires considerably more time.<br><br>

<I>Contaminant Immunity:</I> Wolverine's natural healing also affords him the virtual immunity to poisons and most drugs, except in massive doses. For example, it is extremely difficult for him to become intoxicated from alcohol and he was one able to consume enough blowfish poison to kill 20 men with no discomfort.<br><br>

<I>Disease Immunity:</I> Wolverine's highly efficient immune system, which is part of his accelerated healing factor, renders him immune against all known Earthly diseases and infections.<br><br>

<I>Delayed Aging:</I> In addition, Wolverine's healing factor provides him with an extended lifespan by slowing the effects of the aging process. Wolverine was born sometime during the late 19th Century. Although well over 100 years of age, Wolverine retains the health, appearance and physical vitality of a man in the physical prime of his life.<br><br>

<I>Psionic Resistance:</I> Due to a combination of his healing factor and high level psionic shields implanted by Professor Charles Xavier, Wolverine's mind is highly resistant to telepathic assault and probing.</font></div>

<I>Superhuman Strength:</I> Wolverine's mutant healing factor enables him to push his muscles beyond the natural limits of the human body without injury, granting him some degree of superhuman strength.  This natural strength is augmented by the demand placed on his musculature due to the presence of over 50kg/100 pounds of Adamantium bonded to his skeleton, which also removes the natural limitations of the human skeletal structure by allowing him to lift weights that would damage a human skeleton. Wolverine has sufficient strength to break steel chains, support the weight of a dozen men with one arm, and lift the 450kg/955 lb Ursa Major over his head before tossing him across a room. Wolverine's strength is enough to allow him to press just about 2 tons<br><br>

<I>Superhuman Stamina:</I> Wolverine's mutant healing factor grants him high immunity against lactic acid and other fatigue toxins generated by his muscles during physical activity. Wolverine can sustain himself at peak capacity for several days. Wolverine has shown himself capable of fighting Arkady Rossovich (Omega Red) for over 24 hours, despite regular exposure to Omega Red's death spores.[58]. His lung capacity is at peak human level enabling him to hold breath for 6 minutes under water, making his lungs as healthy as human's lungs can get. And when his lungs stop working，he can maintain his life by cutaneous respiration （It can only maintain his basic life activities).<br><br>

<I>Superhuman Durability:</I> Wolverine possess superhuman durability. This is mostly because of his healing abilities and Adamantium Skeleton, which redistributes the force of blows dealt against. He has taken blows from Spider-Man on multiple occasions showing less than minimal discomfort, as well from a host of other much stronger characters such as Wonder-Man, Thor, Hulk, Thing, Skaar, Sebastian Shaw, and Kid Gladiator, who also had the advantage of have spiked knuckles. However, even without his Adamantium Skeleton, Wolverine does display a degree of superhuman durability. For example, he was hit by a jeep, and was unharmed. This is partially due to the fact that his skeleton, even without the Adamantium metal, is superhumanly durable.<br><br>

<I>Superhuman Speed:</I> Wolverine is able to move at low level superhuman speeds. He has attacked faster than the eye could follow and even Spider-Man briefly thought Wolverine was faster than he was in their first fight. His combat speed seems more enhanced then anything else, as he has frequently kept up with Spider-Man in combat, and blitzed people before they pull their trigger fingers.<br><br>

<I>Superhuman Agility:</I> Wolverine's agility, balance and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels far beyond the natural physical limits and capabilities of the finest human specimen. Wolverine's agility is sufficient to allow him to dodge multiple bullets. Other times, able to jump extremely high and evade several yards.<br><br>
<I>Superhuman Reflexes:</I> Wolverine's reflexes are similarly enhanced, they are also superior to those possessed by the finest human specimen and are equal to the likes of Steve Rogers' (Captain America) due to his superhumanly acute senses, although most of the time he relies highly on his regenerative healing factor.<br><br></font></div>

<I>Bone Claws:</I> Wolverine's skeleton includes six retractable 12-inch long bone claws, three in each arm, that are housed beneath the skin and muscle of his forearms. Wolverine can, at will, release these slightly curved claws through his skin between the knuckles on each hand. The skin between the knuckles tears and bleeds, but the blood loss is quickly halted by his healing factor. Wolverine can unsheathe any number of his claws at once, although he must keep his wrists straight at the moment his claws pass from his forearms into his hands. When unsheathed, the claws are entirely within his hands, allowing him to bend his wrists when they are extended. The claws are made of bone, unlike the claws of normal mammals which are made of keratin, and were originally believed to be bionic adamantium implants.<br><br>

<I>Superhumanly Acute Senses:</I> Wolverine possesses superhumanly acute senses that are comparable to those of certain animals. He can see at far greater distances, with perfect clarity, than an ordinary human. He retains this same level of clarity even in near total darkness. His hearing is enhanced in a similar manner, allowing him to detect sounds ordinary humans couldn't hear at a greater distances, enough to hear a teardrop in another room that have thick walls with enough focus. He is able to recognize people and objects by scent, even if they are well hidden as even shape shifted beings, like Mystique and Morph, cannot hide from him. He can track a target by scent, even if the scent has been greatly eroded by time and weather factors, with an extraordinary degree of success. Wolverine can also use his keen sense of smell to detect lies due to chemical changes within a person's scent and/or hearing by listening to their heart beat. These senses stem from, at least partially, his constant cellular regeneration, as are his enhanced physical capabilities.<br><br>

<I>Insulated Weather Adaptation:</I> Wolverine's body is highly resistant to certain elemental extremes, particularly cold, to the extent that he can sleep nude in subarctic conditions with no apparent injury.<br><br>

<I>Animal Empathy:</I> Wolverine has the ability to sense the emotional state of animals on a basic level such as fear, anger, happiness or pain. He can even communicate with them to make the animal aware of his actions and or his intent.</font></div>

When Forge monitored Wolverine's vitals during a Danger Room training session, he reported Logan's physical and mental state as "equivalent to an Olympic-level gymnast performing a Gold-medal-winning routine whilst simultaneously beating four chess computers in his head", which gives something of an idea of the level of sophistication and tactical processing Logan is capable of utilizing while in combat.<br><br>

<I>Master Martial Artist:</I> Due to his extensive training as a soldier, a CIA operative, a samurai and a member of the X-Men, Logan is an exceptional martial artist. His extraordinary hand-to-hand combat ability makes him one of the finest combatants on Earth. He was able to keep up with both the Black Panther and the Iron Fist, both expert martial artists. He has also defeated various hand-to-hand experts without using his claws. <br><br>

<I>Expert Marksman:</I> He is an expert marksman skilled in throwing weapons and firearms, but operates more efficiently without them. <br><br>

<I>Expert Swordsman:</I> Logan is proficient in Japanese sword fighting having studied under Ogun. <br><br>

<I>Advanced Covert Ops Expert:</I> Due to his experience traveling the world and working for various government agencies, Wolverine is also a trained expert in multiple types of weapons, vehicles, computer systems, explosives, and assassination techniques. While a part of Weapon X, he said: I can put six shots into a quarter... an' get change for the gum-machine. <br><br>

<I>Skilled Mechanic:</I> Along with Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler), Wolverine has also been the mechanic of the X-Men's Blackbird jet for a long time. <br><br>

<I>Multi-lingual:</I> A polyglot; Wolverine is fluent in many languages including English, Arabic, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Cheyenne, Lakota, and Spanish; he has some knowledge of French, German, Thai, Vietnamese, Farsi and Portuguese. Ogun taught him Japanese ideograms. <br><br></font></div>

For instance, when he was fighting the Bruce Banner (Hulk), he was nearly killed by the Hulk's thunder claps due to his heightened sense of hearing.<br><br>

<I>Decapitation/Severe Spinal Damage:</I> Professor X once stated that Wolverine could be killed if his head becomes separated from his body, causing his brain to be unable to send signals to the section(s) of his body that needs healing. Because of the addition of his adamantium-laced skeleton, however, the idea seems very unlikely although the cartilage between his bones remains normal.<br><br>

<I>Carbonadium Digestion:</I> Wolverine's healing factor is also affected, though to a far less degree, if he ingests Carbonadium.<br><br>

<U>Adamantium-related weaknesses</U><br>
<I>Adamantium Allotropes:</I> Adamantium has thirteen different allotropes (variants) that are very unstable compared to adamantium because of their different molecular configurations and thus physical properties. Some have caused Wolverine to become dizzy or weak just by being in close contact with these adamantium specimens.<br><br>

<I>Reduced Buoyancy:</I> The addition of nearly 100 pounds of Adamantium to his body makes it more difficult for Wolverine to swim. Namor stated that Wolverine is the worst swimmer which is later confirmed by Logan.<br><br>

<B><I><U>Personal</B></I></U><br>
Despite all of his training and skills, Logan must take care with the animal within.  The basis of his fighting style is akin to that of a feral animal and, while he is capable of applying the extensive knowledge that he has, it is rarely done in a way that one could call him a martial artist.  The beast within his soul is constantly trying to claw its way free and this shows itself in the way he fights; the longer a battle goes one the more he risks loosing control.  Logan, should a fight go too long or he grow too angry, slips into the animal and enters a "berserker's rage" state.  Loosing all sense of self, he becomes a near unstoppable predator, driven by bloodlust, instinct, and emotion unless he can regain control.</font></div>

As a result, Wolverine's bones are virtually unbreakable. The presence of the Adamantium has further enhanced the already razor sharp edge of Wolverine's bone claws. Aside from being practically indestructible, the claws are capable of cutting any solid material, with the known exception of True Adamantium and Vibranium (Captain America's Shield). He claws has penetrated the most durable of foes, including Thor, Hulk, Gladiator and perhaps most impressively Thanos.  However, Wolverine's ability to slice completely through a substance depends upon the thickness of the substance and the amount of force he can exert. The Adamantium also weights his blows, dramatically increasing the effectiveness of his punches and kicks.<br><br>

<I>Adamantium Beta:</I> The only known occurrence of Adamantium Beta was during the Weapon X Project. By the second part of the procedure when they laced his bones with Adamantium, there was a reaction with his healing factor that bonded metal and bone. The Adamantium "heals" just as his bones do as a result.</font></div>
