  1. In XY, Aerodactyl was blessed with an amazing Mega Evolution that effectively made it the best Mega Evolution in the UU tier. It's already impressive base 130 Speed was was raised to an astounding base 150, it received a hefty boost to it's Attack making it a solid 135, which is backed up more with a great ability in Touch Claws, which makes all contact moves do 33% more damage. With power and speed such as this, it's an incredible revenge killer and blanket check towards the "big dogs" of the UU tier such as Mega Beedrill, Entei, even Salamence! The cherry on top? It finally gained respectable Defenses of 80 / 85 / 95 that made it an offensive behemoth that's capability of defensive ability.

  3. Despite all it's numerous pro's, it's far from perfect. It struggles immensely with the likes of bulky Water and Steel-types including, but not limited to Suicune, Doublade, Swampert, and Forretress. Mega Aerodactyl also has very common weaknesses in Water, Ice, and Rock which hinders the amount of times it can actually come into battle. It also has a nasty Stealth Rock weakness as well, which strip a clean 25% off it's HP. However, Mega Aerodactyl is highly customizable and with a such a wide movepool, it can circumvent the effect most of it's checks have on it, but only slightly. It still needs team support like any other Pokemon!

  16. This is Mega Aerodactyl's bread-and-butter set. For those EV Spread aficionados out there, 40 Defensive EV's allow Mega Aerodactyl to survive an Ice Shard from Mamoswine, a huge threat in the UU metagame, after Stealth Rock. Wing Attack and Stone Edge are Mega Aerodactyl's best STAB moves that hit a large portion of the metagame for very solid damage. Unlike Stone Edge, which has a BP of 100, Wing Attack has 60 BP, which may make it seem like a weak move at first glance, but it's powered up by Tough Claws, making it deceptively powerful. Earthquake is an excellent coverage that complete the infamous "EdgeQuake" combination that inflicts solid damage on the likes of Doublade, Cobalion, and Lucario. Pursuit is an extremely good move in the current UU metagame with the return of Alakazam. For those who don't know, Pursuit allows you to inflict marginal damage to fleeing opponents, in this case OHKO Alakazam if it tries to switch out and severely weaken it if it doesn't. If Pursuit isn't desired that last slot has a number of options to choose from including Fire Fang, Aqua Tail, Roost, even Hone Claws which make Mega Aerodactyl all the more threatening.
