In the world that has been taken over by tyranny and technology, magic users are dwindling down to small groups in the outskirts of large cities. Magic use is heavily regulated and unless one is a government sanctioned superhero, one is forbidden to practice magic at all.

Cadence is the great great granddaughter of Stephanie Golden, the second Astrologer. Always felt the urge to study more about magic, particularly Astrology, she will secretly read the magic tomes her great great grandmother collected throughout her life, despite the concern of the rest of her family who wants her to drop it for her own safety.

But she is a stubborn girl, and kept doing it anyway. The more she learns about magic, the more she wishes for a world like her ancestor's - where magic is still acceptable in society and she could practice it without prejudice of those around her. After stumbling upon Stephanie's personal journal collections, this feeling only rises even more, though the words written in the journals are not always fun and light - there were many torn pages and stories about Stephanie's fallen comrades.

And at her 23rd birthday, her mother gave Cadence the Zodiac Wheel. She only told Cadence to use it wisely, without telling Cadence what it actually is. Her mother knows that her daughter already learned about the necklace.

A few nights later, she was visited by Stephanie and Petra, the previous wielder of the Zodiac Wheel, who have already ascended into the stars and merged with them. They are spiritually connected to the Wheel, able to detect and determine if one's worthy of wielding the Wheel's immense power. They both explained to Cadence that she have to carry on their legacy, to become the third version of Astrologer.

They both explained to Cadence that she's literally the last astrologer on Earth - others are already dead or locked away in special metahuman prisons. And in this dire state, they have agreed to teach Cadence how to fully use the Zodiac Wheel's powers - the only candle lighting up the darkness.

At first, just like Stephanie was, she was hesitant - fully knowing that if she took up this responsibility than her life is at stakes, and perhaps, her family's lives as well. But she finally agreed. Joining the now outlawed Paradigm, she hopes to bring Astrology back to life - and slowly changing the world to her imagination.

As the third Astrologer, Cadence decided to use a different codename : Kartika. Kartika is a Sanskrit/Hindi feminine name that means "Bestower of Courage", and in Indonesian, it means "Stars" - A shout-out to the origins of her power.

-Personality-
She has a lot of parallels to her great great grandmother, stubborn and fixated on any thing she's interested into, having a lot of creativity, and also energetic. Petra even noted this on her first encounter with Cadence. Although, compared to Stephanie, she is way more stubborn than Steph is, probably due to Cad's status as the only child.

As Stephanie was, the Zodiac Wheel can also affect Cadence's personality.

-Differences-
Compared to Stephanie, Cadence has several differences on how she uses her power and how the mechanism works on her.

First of all, she has the ability to 'guide' the Wheel into a certain power from the first time she uses it - unlike Stephanie who had to went through the randomly chosen power phase.

Secondly, she also have the privilege of having Stephanie mentoring her in battles, as Stephanie's soul is still capable of talking to her outside of dreams.

Third, the emotional effects the Zodiac Wheel have on her lasts a little longer after the battle. The longer she stays in one planet's power, the longer she will be affected after battle, lasting hours and even almost a whole day.
