Both Act 2 and 3 are quite long to get through and sometimes you don't have someone to help you rush your new characters. In this guide I go through how you can get new characters quickly through Act 2 and 3 especially in normal where the distances in areas like Durance of Hate are very short compared to Nightmare/Hell.

Act 2 Progression blocks:

Cannot enter portals created in Palace (or later) without Quest 3 completed (destroy the Altar in Viper Temple Level 2)
Cannot enter portals in Canyon of the Magi or Tombs without Quest 5 completed (kill summoner)

Act 3 Progression blocks:

Cannot enter portals in Durance of Hate without Quest 3 completed (destroy the Orb in Travincal - new in D2Resurrected as of Patch 2.4 https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/diablo2/23788293/diablo-ii-resurrected-patch-2-4-now-live#quality )

All of these blocks can be circumvented:

For Act 2:
Have a character who has opened the chamber to fight Duriel. Create a game with this character, and then rejoin the game with the character you wish to get to progress on. You're now free to enter Palace straight from the beginning of the Act and run and kill Duriel and enter Act 3. You may actually kill Duriel with another character, then enter the game with the one you wish to progress, run to Chambers and talk to Tyrael - this dialogue WILL progress your quest and allow you to enter Act 3 without ever even seeing Duriel with the character. This also permanently bugs Duriel so you can kill him repeatedly for quest loot. Very useful in Hell as he has one of the best loot tables for jewelry.

Ideally this character should not have completed Quest 5 (kill summoner) so that the rushed character can get it done and be able to enter portals to Canyon/Tombs (You can go straight to Tombing!)
- All you need is a level 1 Character that has killed Andariel -> Create staff with another character and clear path to Duriel through Palace, then enter that game with this "Gate" or "Skip" character, run through Palace to Tomb and open the entrance. NEVER enter kill Duriel or enter Act 3 with this character!

For Act 3:
1) Obtain Travincal waypoint (from someone else or by running there yourself)
2) Make a new game with a character who has completed Act 3 and Quest 3 (destroy the orb in Travinal) so that the entrance is open
3) Rejoin this game with the character you wish to progress with, run to Durance of Hate level 2 and get the waypoint.
4) Now that you have the waypoint, you can make a new game and you have access to Mephisto without completing any other quests.

Sadly, Act 5 Ancients cannot be skipped using methods from this guide as entering Worldstone Level 1-3 and Throne of Destruction requires Quest 5 to be completed (kill ancients) and Quest 5 cannot be completed without being level 20.
