  83. Tukkun: Basically, it has come to my attention that most popular idle games nowadays are either incremental or have incremental aspects of some sort

  85. Tukkun: Like, you would buy upgrades and your number would increase at an insanely higher speed
  86.  
  87. Axiss32: Awesome, capped out HV mod efficiency in 7k PBs
  88.

  107. Shashakiro: cookie clicker and clicker heroes are the ones I played
  108.  
  109. Shashakiro: but those got so boring and I quit

  113. Tukkun: and it usually has "areas", like you kill 10 monsters and then you can proceed to the next area

  119. Tukkun: I plan to make a similar thing, but instead of clicking, Battle Arena concepts are used

  171. Parsee: He hopes the reason people don't like it, is because it's too hard for them, but just right for Room 1'ers.

  175. Toa_of_Pi: my big concern is that those games usually start out ok, but then gets boring kinda quick, and obscenely repetative (and then they just all blend together)

  177. Tukkun: and aimed towards a very wide audience

  179. Axiss32: No wait......I wanted to say "I hope they will like the game because not so complex"...):

  181. Shashakiro: can it scale down as a player progresses

  183. Tukkun: Because it seems we are in dire need of a new BA area anyway
  184.  
  185. Tukkun: and many people find Anti-Idle inaccessible because it is so different from what is popular nowadays
  186.  
  187. Shashakiro: like it's quite efficient in the beginning and gradually becomes kind of bad
  188.  
  189. Axiss32: Yea, new stuff is always the best
  190.  
  191. Toa_of_Pi: but thats what makes it so awesome, the fact that it doesn't follow the same cookie cutter formula of everything else out there
  192.  
  193. Tukkun: Shashakiro, I plan to make it so the primary source of rewards from the area is actually from CLEARING areas, rather than from killing
  194.  
  195. Toa_of_Pi: its something unique instead of just the same exact thing as a dozen other games but with different graphics
  196.  
  197. Tukkun: It will use that familiar concept of "kill X monsters in a certain period of time to proceed to next area"
  198.  
  199. Tukkun: and whenever you get to the next area (which likely requires some grinding to purchase upgrades), you get EXP and rewards and stuff
  200.  
  201. Parsee: Flashbacks to Hero Clicker
  202.  
  203. Tukkun: This way you will be actually motivated to get stronger
  204.  
  205. Axiss32: But whenever you can't progress to next area for some reasons, iit's because you have too low Attack for kill the enemy within some seconds, or what?
  206.  
  207. Shashakiro: yeah and then you have to, uh, "ascend"
  208.  
  209. Tukkun: Well, you can fight in current area for more resources to upgrade (and get some small amount of EXP from killing)
  210.  
  211. Shashakiro: or whatever
  212.  
  213. Tukkun: and yes, there's an "ascend" system of some sort
  214.  
  215. Tukkun: where you can get back to area 1
  216.  
  217. Liquidplays: These upgrades will only affect in this new area?
  218.  
  219. Tukkun: but until you beat your old highscore, your rewards are reduced
  220.  
  221. Tukkun: so you can't just "ascend" repeatedly to gain rewards from clearing the first few areas
  222.  
  223. Tukkun: Either that, or there will be some sort of "delay" before you can ascend again
  224.  
  225. Tukkun: For example, you can only "ascend" once every 24 hours
  226.  
  227. Tukkun: so during this time you'll be motivated to go as far as possible
  228.  
  229. Toa_of_Pi: will it have an end (or at least end of real benefit, like rebirths up to 100), or just go on forever?
  230.  
  231. Axiss32: So it's something for give you a motivation to progress in further areas for EXP, rather than spamming low-level areas, right^
  232.  
  233. Shashakiro: make it end make everything end

  235. Tukkun: It will likely give an item - I'm thinking pendant - which gets stronger as you progress
  236.  
  237. Tukkun: and that's to be decided, I suppose
  238.  
  239. Shashakiro: by which I mean not end but like just be not really possible to get further than a certain point
  240.  
  241. Shashakiro: or end if you want
  242.  
  243. Toa_of_Pi: I vote not endless

  245. Tukkun: Also the area will have three difficulty modes
  246.  
  247. Tukkun: Well, Toa, it's prone to be limited at some point
  248.  
  249. Tukkun: because my huge number library can only handle numbers up to 10^1008 anyway

  253. Tukkun: so I will aim for it to "end" at a point where monsters have around 10^950 HP, to avoid problems

  255. Toa_of_Pi: well, I mean a concrete limit, rather than just 'well, theres a level that exists, but only theoretically because you can't get to it because you'll never be strong enough'

  257. Tukkun: A "concrete limit" likely won't exist
  258.  
  259. Toa_of_Pi: kinda like in ED where after level 200, there is literally nothing else
  260.  
  261. Tukkun: but that's to be decided, I guess
  262.  
  263. Tukkun: Or it will be like ED, where there will be such a limit at first, but it will be raised over time
  264.  
  265. Tukkun: to feel like there's "new content"
  266.  
  267. Toa_of_Pi: I just personally like having concrete goals to aim for, as opposed to 'Do this forever until you get bored'

  271. Axiss32: Can monsters in this new area drop the same items as regular monsters, such as materials?

  277. Toa_of_Pi: and for the most part, this game has been great at that. get 500 IAs, 500 ultras, fishing skill 50, all fcg cards, etc

  281. Shashakiro: the magic number 500 must not be upset

  283. Tukkun: Although the thing continues on after the final reward (much like getting 1,000,000 BP), there's little to no reason for it
  284.  
  285. Parsee: When did you come back, Shashakiro? Or were you hiding in another room?

  287. Tukkun: Um... I'm losing Internet connection

  289. Shashakiro: I never left; hiding in room "the game tab"

  293. Tukkun: Axiss, yes, it is treated like regular areas and you can get usual loot drops

  301. mmKALLL: I'd just like to say that this game is pretty awesome now that corruption doesn't throw you back into the Pub - been playing since Did You Know and the Bonus Bar were things and this game still has a certain charm in it.

  303. Shashakiro: which actually reminds me, can there just exist somewhere or other an in-game way to access the Big List of Save Variables for tech light purposes

  305. Shashakiro: like put it in SSF or something but the way it is now you literally have to beg someone who ripped the game code to tell you what a variable name is

  307. Tukkun: It's impossible to generate such a list
  308.  
  309. Shashakiro: ah
  310.  
  311. Tukkun: Also, to prevent the new areas from rendering current ones useless, there will be some limitations
  312.  
  313. Tukkun: Like, you will have to use some items (I'm planning CoR / CoUR) to "buy" time in these areas
  314.  
  315. mmKALLL: I'm just wondering about what it's like to still develop a game after five-six years of awesome?
  316.  
  317. Shashakiro: (seconding approval of corruption change)

  319. Tukkun: There will be a "free mode" too, aimed mostly towards new players who have played for just a few minutes, and with low rewards
  320.  
  321. Anonymity: higher CoR/UR cap plz

  323. Tukkun: mmKALLL, I do get bored at times

  325. Tukkun: The only thing that really motivates me to continue, is that people are still playing
  326.  
  327. Tukkun: The number of players has dropped drastically, too - but I guess that's to be expected
  328.  
  329. Shashakiro: it has probably been suggested 9,999,999,999,999 times but I will put my vote behind the YC cap being raised to that number
  330.  
  331. Toa_of_Pi: kinda reminds me of the time machine back in pre-explosion
  332.  
  333. Toa_of_Pi: where you had to get a bunch of pieces in order to go to the special area
  334.  
  335. mmKALLL: Still, it kind of amazes me how dedicated some people are and have been towards AI: TG.

  337. Tukkun: An YC cap increase will likely lead to other broken things
  338.  
  339. Tukkun: and just inflation in general
  340.  
  341. Tukkun: Is it still extremely easy to reach YC cap after the recent nerfs to YC gain in Battle Arena?

  343. mmKALLL: As if the coins aren't inflated enough already.

  351. Axiss32: Not as fast as pre-1724, but still pretty fast for me

  363. Shashakiro: I have not been purposefully grinding YC

  365. Tukkun: I suppose that mostly comes from AAG?

  369. Parsee: I cap a couple times a day, due to 2b harvests from 25s.

  371. Axiss32: Other gardens also give good amount, especially if affected by HV mod

  379. Tukkun: So we can instead reduce gains from the Garden, and also item prices

  493. Tukkun: The primary difference from the current system, is that you can only work on one quest at a time, and your progress only starts counting once you accept the quest.

  495. mmKALLL: Perhaps if a complex feature like this was implemented, it could be for only the ascended players? That would also set a lower bound on how strong the players are expected to be in the BA.

  521. Tukkun: Basically, like this "quest map" system, but represented differently

  523. Axiss32: Are there quests like "Get Plot #75 on Garden" or "Get to FCG level xxx"?

  525. mmKALLL: It kind of reminds me of the labyrinth system of Dissidia, which was cool; the not-cool part is when I think of main quests and having to focus on only one at a time.

  527. Toa_of_Pi: so if my SC happens to get a really nice pong score (ha, as if), while I was working on a fishing quest, I'm out of luck?

  529. Tukkun: Well, that's for the new QUEST system

  531. Tukkun: The thing that's similar to our current quest system, will be moved to achievements

  533. Shashakiro: yeah that's good

  537. Tukkun: Rather than the current 630 achievements, we will have 190 achievements, each one with 7 ranks of increasing difficulty

  539. Shashakiro: since they are basically the same thing

  545. Tukkun: because - well, you know, achievements and quests are currently to similar
  546.  
  547. Axiss32: Quests are just a hard version of Achievements
  548.  
  549. mmKALLL: The thing I liked about achievements is that they all had interesting names
  550.  
  551. Tukkun: I want to make it so achievements are actual achievements, and quests are things you do in a specific order to learn about stuff in the game, rather than a harder variant of achievements system.

  557. mmKALLL: The achievements should still offer things to do after +50 or +100, though?

  559. Tukkun: So the newer achievements will have difficulty that is similar to current quests (a little harder)

  561. Shashakiro: so the new quests won't be random then?

  563. Tukkun: but quests will instead focus on allowing you to learn about different aspects of the game
  564.

  567. Tukkun: but there will also be difficult quests that provide challenges for players
