Interviewer: Here we are backstage at the NME awards. It's Muse. They are after the second year running the Best British Band. How are you feeling gentlemen?

Dom: Great. Over the moon. Second year running that's pretty cool.
It would have feel like having a deja vu right now and...

Matt: Fuck off you cunt!

Dom: [laughs]

Matt: Yeah you... fuck you.
Uh... but yeah yeah this feels great. It feels really cool.
Uh so, like this one's like voted for by hardcore music fans.

Interviewer: Hardcore Muse fans I think

Matt: Hardcore NME fans. And uh, and so that means a lot to us cause NME is like, NME is like that... is this NME?

Dom: No
Matt: [laughs] Yeah well NME's like, NME's like

Matt: No no no no NME's like uh... I love NME
I love it cause it's like, it's like that crazy weird crazy sort of co-dependent psycho girlfriend that like loves you one minute then hates you, then loves you, then hates you and it just makes you wanna come back for more.

And, and so this award means so much because... of that...
and, and, and it...
It's voted for by real, real music fans not by weird panels of people who think they're something that they're not. You know so um, it's it's it's fucking great. I can't believe we've won it two years in a row.

Interviewer: It's quite an achievement you didn't have a record out you were just playing gigs really.

Matt: Yeah we were just hangin' out.

Dom: Just hangin' out.

Matt: Yeah

Dom: Still really, [laughs], what's goin' on?

Matt: Yeah, I'm like really happy. Really blown away with it to be honest. It really really does you know 'cause it, I thought we were going to be off just hangin' around and like relaxing. But we're here, with this.

Dom: [Holding up the award] Celebrating with this... offensive piece.

Matt: Yeah, it's great.

Interviewer: And it to seem last summer, you guys probably played more football stadiums than Eric [] or you know. How was your summer?

Matt: [chuckles] Is [] still playing stadiums?

Interviewer: Don't think so unfortunately.

Matt: yeah yeah well, well yeah...
Um, [laughs].. um

Dom: Last summer was great. We, we did play more stadiums than we have done previously.

Matt: [laughs]

Dom: And it was amazing, you know. We had a, we had a great time and like the crowds... the one thing about playing those kind of huge gigs...

Matt: Who do you think you are... [laughs]

Dom: The crowds are just like insane, because like every... most people in there like know all his words to all the songs. So I mean it just made for such a special gig so it was a lot of fun.

Interviewer: And you had a massive UFO as well...

Dom: We had a massive UFO.

Matt: It wasn't that big.

Dom: We had two spaceships.

Matt: It could've been bigger. It could've been bigger.

Dom: We had, we had our own spaceship.

Matt: It wasn't that big.

Dom: [laughs]

Matt: Like I wanted, I wanted to do something like, I can't remember we were doing a festival somewhere last year and I wanted, I wanted like a real UFO. Like, not like a real UFO but like... something that was coming out from like... like how do you say, propellers. You know, a pilot. You know like a, like a zeppelin. But like, circular shaped. We looked into it, but it cost a lot, it was gonna cost like, like hundreds of thousands. And there was no clearance on health and safety depending on the weather. So it was like a big risk and I was saying "let's just fucking do it, and let's just go for it." Cause imagine if that thing just came over, like, like, I don't know where we were, like Glastonbury or something, imagine if it just like, if it just came over the audience...

Dom: Just take it easy, take it easy. Take it easy.

Matt: ...be like "fff- what the fuck is going on? What's happening there something in the sky!" Like it would be like, it would've of, it could've been great.
I'm heading for greatness.
I'm trying to get there but a struggle, it's been a long term struggle.

Interviewer: I think The Edge at Glastonbury was pretty great.

Matt: Yeah yeah, that's what, we ended up getting The Edge instead. He was like, he was better than a UFO let's be honest.

Dom: Yeah

Matt: [chuckles]

Interviewer: Looking ahead uh, are you guys gonna be working on a new record soon?

Dom: Eventually. Yes. About.

Matt: Yeah. Probably like later in the year I think. I think we...

Dom: Matt was playing me a few chords on the piano the other day and uh...

Matt: Did you like it?

Dom: I loved them yeah. It's great chords and some great ideas so.. eventually we will start playing um, right, you know playing some new music and working on it and stuff like that. But we're kind of, we're still just coming towards the end of touring the album so we're just kind of having a little chill time...

Matt: Ttbpbpbpbpbpbpttth!

Dom: What? He's drunk, in case you haven't realized this. This is Matthew Bellamy pissed up.

Matt: [laughs] But um, but yeah, um, we'll make an album. It's gonna be good.

Interviewer: An album full of chords.

Matt: Full of, lots of chords. Um yeah...

Dom: Well that's that's, that's the starting point. A few chords.

Matt: But we're gonna do a couple of gigs. We'll definitely play a gig this year. Uh I think we'll play a couple of gigs.

Dom: I'd really like to go to the Ukraine.

Matt: I wanna go to Moscow. Um...

Dom: We've never been to Belarus. I'd really like to go to Belarus.

Matt: [laughs] You'd really like to go? Great.

Dom: Yeah I'd love to go.

Matt: Yeah let's do that. Let's do that.
