The night air was cold. They'd been talking for a while, now. It was pouring, actually. The rain drenched Pip. He continued to act like a giddy little schoolgirl, though. He didn't mind the rain.

He was chatting on his phone.
"Gary! Did you know that a fair's coming to town--?"

The boy on the other end chuckled, "Yes."

"We should go together!"

"Alright, Phillip. Which day?"

"I heard they're having a lovely tea set on auction the second day, and I want to see what it looks like, if you don't mind!"

"Sure."

They both laughed lightly, joking and talking about other things.
"Hey, Gary?" Pip's tone got slightly serious for a moment.

"What is it?"

"I love you."

"Huh? I mean, I love you too, buddy."

"No, like..." He sighed, "I love you, and I wish I could've--"
BLAM!

"...Phillip?"

There was no response.

"Phillip! Are you there?"

Still nothing.
He was gone.
