  1. You know, I need to fess up to a touch of dishonesty.
  2.
  3. I'm not some dumbfuck eighteen year old highschooler on the internet for the first time. I know exactly what FIN is, more than the rest of you do, I'd bet. I know End Fear, I know 0ptimusCrabs, and they know me. I was here as an observer, to see if maybe this place was worth giving a chance. Thanks for proving it wasn't.
  4.
  5. I don't expect this to stay up, because god forbid people have access to information, right 0ptimusCrabs? So in summary, there are better alternatives than FIN out there (for instance, http://www.theagoraproject.org/ or http://whyweprotest.net). You don't need FIN. FIN is doomed.
  6.
  7. See, this isn't our first rodeo. The two of them -- only we knew them as Mavendetta and Firstmonkey -- had a site called Whatis-theplan. It didn't do well. Crashed and burned, more like. They made the mistake of trying to leech off the success of Anonymous, and as soon as Anonymous noticed them, it essentially crushed the site and left it to die a slow and crippled death. Along the way, Mavendetta gave up and abandoned it, and Firstmonkey -- when he wasn't serving time for DUIs -- artificially boosted the site's "clicks" and views to inflate the value and then tried to sell it at a profit (proof: http://pastebin.com/0Xkksqua or http://pastebin.com/AvpGLaNN). And of course, they stole money donated to keep the site running and pocketed it for their own use. And then they refounded FIN. Wonder how long you'll last?
  8.
  9. Here are some things to watch out for, that will let you know you're on the same downward spiral Whatis-theplan fell down:
  10.
  11.
  12.
  13. -- Are people threatened with suspensions or bans, or condemned by the other site users for disagreeing with the majority?
  14.
  15. -- Is the instant response to dissatisfaction "Go away if you don't like it here" rather than "Okay, how can we fix this?"
  16.
  17. -- Do your operations seem to focus exclusively on recruiting more members, thus increasing the value of the site and the profit from donations, rather than actions those members can take? (and no, telling those members to go recruit more members does not count as making a difference to anything but the admin's profit line)
  18.
  19. -- Do the admins leave when they're needed because they don't feel like dealing with an issue, or do they only take action when they're losing an argument?
  20.
  21. -- Does anyone, ever, use any phrase along the lines of "Vibecraft" or "Project Vibe"? (if so, run. Don't look back. Just run.)
  22.
  23. -- Is popularity treated as more important than action?
  24.
  25. -- Is making sure every off the wall unrealistic moonbat idea is welcomed and accepted treated as more important than ensuring accuracy and proven claims (rather than unproven ones)?
  26.
  27. -- Who makes the decisions? The admins or the community? Are you SURE? Think about it.
  28.
  29. -- Reiterated for importance: is dissent crushed rather than examined for signs of validity?
  30.
  31. If you'd like to continue this conversation, you can find me at The Agora Project. Mention you're from FIN. Trust me, I'll notice you.
