  1. <DM> *Last time! You all came to Ordon Village at the same time coincidentally, hearing about some call for help against Moblins. After witnessing multiple guards get injured or killed firsthand, you arrived at the scene of the battle and completely annihilated the Moblins, though some of you almost died yourselves. Afterwards, you met with Mayor Milo, the new mayor of Ordon as a temporary for the ill Mayor Bo.*
  2. <DM> *Milo tells you that ever since he took over as Mayor, there've been increased attacks from the Moblins, as they attack to no end every single single day. Even with the help of the new guards, Ordon is still getting overwhelmed, which is why Milo has asked for your help. He asks you to meet with Fado, though before you do, you decide to go hit the sack at the inn, where you encounetered an indefinitely long loading screen. My god, the terrors.*

  6. <DM> *You all awaken to the [painful] morning sunlight filtering through the dusty windows of your rooms. You feel well rested and recovered to full hearts/magic.... HOW DO INNS DO THAT?*
  7. <DM> *Whatever. There's a knock on each of your dooms, followed by a familiar voice... I forgot, did we name that one guard?*
  8. <Lunaria> no idea
  9. * Flareclaw yawns as he stretches the sleep away.
  10. <DM> *It's NotInjuredGuard! .... annnd he's so getting a name.*
  11. * Nimono literally rolls out of bed and falls to the floor
  12. * Tyria_Lazzen is sound asleep
  13. <DM> *Nimono, you take 1 damag- I'm kidding.*
  14. <DM> *On each of your rooms. ........
  15. <DM> come on, 3 minutes in, and I'm already making typos....
  16. <Flareclaw> (How can a knock be on a room?)
  17. <DM> ......
  18. <DM> *He knocks on the doors of each of your rooms.*
  19. * Nimono groggily opens the door
  20. <DM> *Or your dooms. Whichever you prefer.*
  21. * Flareclaw face-claws.

  23. <DM> *Rooms. Dorms. Dooms. Etc.
  24. <Nimono> (WHATEVER LET'S MOVE ON PLS)
  25. * Flareclaw opens his door and face-claws once again.
  26. <DM> kay, I'm throwing an arbitrary name on him
  27. <Lunaria> BUT IT'S CLEARLY OR DESTINY!

  29. * Lunaria opens her door and yawns
  30. * Tyria_Lazzen is still asleep, reluctant of the plot
  31. <DM> *The NotInjuredGuard's name is now Tros. ... I really need to get a set of names set up next time.
  32. <DM> [Tros]: Good morning, all of you folks. Get a decent rest?
  33. <Nimono> *yawns* yeah... still kinda sleepy, though
  34. <DM> [Tros]: Well, you have roughly... *he looks out a window to check the sun's position in the sky* ... about 5 hours until the Moblins make their daily attack. Can't quite figure out why they always attack the same time every day...
  35. <Nimono> ...oh dear.
  36. <DM> *For the record, 5 hours does not equal 5 hours real-time.*
  37. <Lunaria> huh, that sounds weird
  38. <DM> *Or else I'd shoot myself.*
  39. <Nimono> very
  40. <Nimono> ((brb))
  41. * Flareclaw scratches his head, puzzled by that fact.
  42. <DM> *Tyria suddenly shifts to zombie auto-follow mode.*
  43. <DM> [Tros]: Is there anything you folks were going to check out before the attack?
  44. * Flareclaw makes his way down to the lobby of the Inn and exits, stage left.
  45. * Tyria_Lazzen wakes up
  46. <DM> *And Tros has already been ignored by Flareclaw the Party Splitter.*
  47. <Lunaria> uh, I think it was someone we were supposed to meet up with...?
  48. * Lunaria is clearly still half asleep
  49. <DM> [Tros]: Hmm.. was it perhaps-
  50. <DM> *At that moment, with Flareclaw leaving the inn, all of you hear a very loud voice booming throughout the whole village:
  51. <DM> [Voice]: HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
  52. <DM> (I blame Twilight Princess.)
  53. <Nimono> ((back))
  54. <Lunaria> ._.
  55. <Lunaria> ...so noise-y
  56. <Nimono> ...this is making me want to go back to bed...
  57. <DM> *Flareclaw, a little bit east of your position, you see a large man waving at you, next to some goats that are yet-again trying to sneak their way out of the ranch.*
  58. * Flareclaw , startled by the loud voice, turns to look towards the direction it came from.
  59. <DM> *And I pre-emptively called your action. WHOO!
  60. * DM hides.
  61. * Flareclaw kicks DM out the window.

  68. * DM lands on the ranch's fence.... that's magical.
  69. * Tyria_Lazzen moves out of the inn of inns
  70. <Nimono> lunaria, you coming?
  71. <Lunaria> yeah sorry
  72. * Lunaria sludges behind slowly
  73. * Flareclaw begins cautiously walking towards the ranch.
  74. <DM> *Nimono attempts to leave the inn first and then ask someone inside the inn if they're following. LOGIC!
  75. <Nimono> (it's called yelling!)
  76. * Flareclaw face-claws.
  77. <DM> *You all ditch Tros and roll out of the inn, with Flareclaw already on his way to the ranch, reluctant of the plot.*
  78. <Nimono> (poor tros)
  79. <Nimono> so, which way was the ranch...?
  80. * Lunaria shrugs
  81. <DM> *Flareclaw, despite your reluctance of potential plot devices, you arrive at the entrance of the ranch first. Beyond the wooden fence that I painfully got kicked onto, you can see a large pasture with lots of goats roaming around, some even fightin' and colldin' with each other. The large man at the entrance greets you. He's about your height.*
  82. <DM> *For the rest of a you, one of the ranch's goats wanders towards you. Looking in its direction, you see your party-ditching friend is already meeting with the big man at the entrance of the ranch.*
  83. <Nimono> oh, there it is! *heads in the direction of the ranch*
  84. <DM> *The man introduces himself to Flareclaw as Nimono arrives, albeit a bit away.*
  85. <DM> [Fado]: Greetings! I'm Fado, the goat herder! You must be the new folks in town, yes?
  86. * Flareclaw nods a yes.
  87. * Lunaria catches up and waves to Fado drowsilly.
  88. <DM> [Fado]: Hey, that's great! I heard you folks beat them Moblins down pretty good, yeah?
  89. <Nimono> we did
  90. <DM> *Fado notices you folks and waves back. He'd yell another HEEEEEEYYYY- but I've decided not to make him Navi The Gerat One.*
  91. * Flareclaw face-claws at the typo.
  92. <DM> .....
  93. <DM> GOD DANGIT
  94. <DM> it's Navi, I ain't correctin' dat fairy crap
  95. <Lunaria> It was close but, I think we managed to hold or own against them.
  96. <DM> [Fado]: Great, mans! Good to know we can get all the helps we can get, yeah?
  97. <DM> [Fado]: I heard from the estranged Mayor *he coughs suddenly* that uhh... you folks wanted to see me, yeah?
  98. * Flareclaw nods.
  99. <Nimono> yeah... the mayor recommended we talk to you
  100. <DM> [Fado]: Huh, kinda surprised. I mean, I'm not his biggest fan, and I'm sure he's not mine, hahahah!
  101. <DM> *When he laughs, it's quite loud, almost deafening you folks.*
  102. <Nimono> huh? whaddya mean?
  103. <DM> [Fado]: Well.. let's speak a little further in. I've got a shack at the back o'er thar, ya see?
  104. <Lunaria> um, yes?
  105. <DM> *Fado points to the far back of the pasture, where there is indeed a shack. Flareclaw, you can see it clearly. For the rest of you, a bunch of god darn goats block your view.*
  106. <DM> *He goes ahead and heads back there.*
  107. * Nimono shrugs and follows
  108. * Flareclaw walks towards said shack, ignoring the goats.
  109. <DM> *You folks follow Fado to the shack at the back. .... what's with my rhyming today.*
  110. <DM> *Anyhow, you reach the shack, which has a number of random tools inside. I'm gonna choose not to describe them to prevent you guys from wondering how they'd work as actual tools for ZURPG.*
  111. * Flareclaw points at the gate to the ranch as he's walking face-first into the shack.
  112. <DM> [Fado]: Ah, sorry it's a bit dusty in here, haven't had da chance ta clean it properly with all the Moblins causin' havoc an' whatnot!
  113. <DM> *He looks at you, Flareclaw.*
  114. <Lunaria> that's fine, I think
  115. <DM> [Fado]: Whatcha pointin' at there, buddy?
  116. <DM> *Tyria, still zombie-mode, slams face-first into the wall of the shack before actually entering the shack.*
  117. * Nimono sneezes from all the dust
  118. <Nimono> ah...sorry...
  119. <DM> *Fado closes the shack door. Great, now it's dusty AND stuffy in here.*
  120. <DM> [Fado]: Sooo... any of you folks noticin' anythin'... oh I dunno, weird? I know you folks are new 'round 'ere, but it just don't feel like home anymore.
  121. <Lunaria> the major seems a bit odd... also the sickness that have spread at such a convenient time...

  123. <Nimono> yeah, something about the mayor is off
  124. <DM> [Fado]: Yeah yeah, that's what I thought too! It's not right for Bo to be sick for so long... he's nearly as strong as I am, and I ain't a lick o' bit of sick!

  126. <DM> [Fado]: I think Tros is the only one of the old guards that ain't sick, I think ye folks met him already, good man 'e is...

  128. <DM> [Fado]: But them new guards, they just... seem so... stiff. I dunno how ta explain it man, you folks tried talkin' to any of 'em?
  129. <Lunaria> Uh, there was that one that seemed very dedicated to his faiths
  130. <DM> [Fado]: Faiths, eh? Better hope they're not some weird knockoffs of them Followers of Wisdom I heard 'bout in Hyrule City!
  131. <Nimono> ...yeah, he was kinda weird
  132. <Nimono> ...I don't really wanna think about him anymore
  133. <Nimono> we did meet Tros, though. actually, we...had to save his life when we first got here
  134. <DM> [Fado]: I'm glad ye did, 'e's a good man, a good man 'e is...
  135. <DM> (And he's repeatin' himself.)
  136. <DM> [Fado]: Anywho, make sure no one 'ere's what I'm about to-
  137. <DM> *Suddenly, there's a loud knock on the door, followed by a rather strict voice.*
  138. <DM> [Guard]: Hey, it's the guards, open up!
  139. <DM> [Fado]: ... ugh, not this again.
  140. <Nimono> ...uh?
  141. <Lunaria> But we aren't decent!
  142. <DM> *Fado looks rather crestfallen.*
  143. * Lunaria smirks
  144. <DM> (wat)
  145. <Lunaria> (lying, mate, lying)
  146. <Nimono> ...
  147. <DM> *Fado reluctantly opens the door. Great Flareclaw, you've even made an NPC reluctant of the plot!*
  148. * Flareclaw face-claws.
  149. <Lunaria> (it seemed like a good idea to buy time. :I)
  150. <DM> [Fado]: *looking at the guard* Again, man?
  151. <DM> [Guard]: *stiff as a board* Yes, sire! You're to report to Mayor Milo to help with construction!
  152. <DM> *The guard just now notices the rest of the party in the shack.*
  153. <DM> [Guard]: Err... to help with..... something, sir!
  154. <Lunaria> Construction?
  155. <DM> [Fado]: Yeah, construction of-
  156. <DM> [Guard]: Outsiders do NOT need to know!
  157. <DM> [Fado]: Hey, they're the ones that helped us-
  158. <Lunaria> I thought Fado was supposed to help us with dealing with the moblins?
  159. <DM> [Guard]: Outsiders do NOT need to know!
  160. <Lunaria> Surely we can borrow him today.
  161. <DM> *He is... unfortunately, this Guard is being a douchebag.*
  162. <DM> [Guard]: ... you can borrow him after he's done helping.
  163. * Flareclaw stands up and snaps his claw.
  164. <DM> *Fado flexes his arm like he's about to punch the guard down, but he loosens up and decides not to.*
  165. <DM> [Guard]: *noticing Flareclaw* What do you want, lizard?
  166. <Nimono> *whispers to lunaria* (i don't think this is going to end well...)
  167. * Flareclaw casts Psi Flare, upon the guard. ($18d10 v. Wisdom)

  185. * OrdonGuard survives the burning pain from the spell, hanging on with 4 hearts. He falls to the ground for a moment before standing back up, his sword aimed at Flareclaw.
  186. <OrdonGuard> You... how DARE you! You're supposed to be helping us!
  187. <DM> *Fado stands between Flareclaw and OrdonGuard.*
  188. <DM> [Fado]: Oh no, I'm so sorry man, it won't happen again!
  189. * Lunaria facepalm
  190. <Lunaria> why
  191. <DM> *Fado turns towards you folks, dropping his voice down low.*
  192. <DM> [Fado]: Please, investigate with less.. force. They may be hindrances, but they're holding the Moblins off... we don't need the village overrun by Moblins.
  193. * Nimono glares angrily at Flareclaw
  194. <DM> *Fado turns back around to the guard.*
  195. * Flareclaw glares angrily at the guard.
  196. <DM> [Fado]: Let's go.
  197. <DM> *Fado and the guard leave. As they do, you guys notice Fado flick a note backwards.*
  198. <DM> *The note falls to the ground, almost trampled by an oncoming goat.*
  199. * Lunaria grabs it
  200. <DM> *You grab it, and it reads:
  201. <DM> "CHECK GUARDHOUSES. FADO GREAT SPELLING AT!*
  202. <DM> *Whelp, his spelling is fine... his grammar... eeeehhhh
  203. * Tyria_Lazzen wakes up again, reluctant of the plot
  204. * Flareclaw decides to let this one go, ... For Fado.
  205. <Lunaria> welp

  207. * Flareclaw nods in agreement.
  208. <DM> *So, in Ordon Village, there's two guardhouses, the West one at the entrance across from the Inn, and the East one, which is right next to where you fought yesterday.*
  209. <DM> *CHOOSE YOUR CHOICE! By the way, if you party split, I'm only gonna cover one group at a time.*
  210. <Lunaria> Try and not attack things that arn't openly hostile, I'd prefer a less bloody approach, if possible.

  216. <DM> *As you head over to the West Guardhouse, you can see Fado from across the river bowing repeatedly to Mayor Milo, probably as a result of the guard's burns from earlier.*
  217. <DM> *At the West Guardhouse is none other than your trusty guard dude, Tros!*
  218. <DM> [Tros]: *sees you folks coming over* Hey, why is the guard escorting Fado covered with burns?
  219. <Nimono> ((back))
  220. <Lunaria> Don't ask, it's a long story
  221. <Lunaria> Buuuuut!
  222. <Lunaria> Since we are here, can you give ous a tour of the facility?
  223. * Lunaria points at the guardhouse
  224. <DM> [Tros]: Ah, but of course!
  225. <DM> *Tros unlocks the door with a key and opens it, wandering into the guardhouse.*
  226. * Flareclaw follows Tros into the guardhouse.

  228. <DM> [Tros]: It's not too much, mainly just an armory for gearing for batte. It's also a barracks for restin', it's actually where the guards sleep at night. We've been meanin' to renovate and get some actual houses for the guards, but Milo's been havin' Fado construct... somethin'. I dunno the details.
  229. <DM> *You enter the guardhouse, and you're immediately met with an array of swords, shields, and armors on a set of racks lined up against the wall. There's also a few doors to the north wall.*
  230. <Nimono> hopefully you guys will get those renovations soon!
  231. <DM> [Tros]: Yeah, I hope so too. Now, what I can't figure out....
  232. <DM> *Tros holds up one of the swords.*
  233. <DM> [Tros]: Is why Milo had all the gear in here switched out. I mean, Ordon gear was better than this! Why would we be using these "Doran's Blades" instead of Ordon Swords?
  234. <DM> [Tros]: He wouldn't even let me keep mine, so I'm stuck with the new gear. Gah!
  235. * Lunaria looks around
  236. * Flareclaw walks up to one of the doors and attempts to open it.
  237. <Lunaria> but if all this stuff is here... and the sleeping arrangements are too. Then what is in the other one...?
  238. <DM> *Let's see, there's four doors. Three of them are clearly labeled "BARRACKS". The other one has no label. Which one did you try to open, Flareclaw?*
  239. * Flareclaw is curious about the unlabeled one.
  240. <DM> [Tros]: Oh, that one's just the toolshed. It's kinda like Fado's shack, but not as dusty. ... though it's kinda disorganized. I dunno, I can't find anythin' in there lately.
  241. <DM> *Kay, you attempt to open the unlabeled one, and lo and behold, all you see a bunch of random undescribed tools scattered all across the floor. Actually, it's scattered so densely, you can't even see the middle of the floor.*
  242. <Nimono> that's...way past disorganized...
  243. * Flareclaw digs in to the random stuff all over the floor, looking for a possible clue..
  244. <Nimono> uhhhhhhhhhhh...flareclaw, do we even have time for that?
  245. <Nimono> plus, shouldn't you have asked permission before diggin through someone else's belongings...?
  246. <DM> [Tros]: Hey, you guys don't have much time, I can get to it eventually, you don't have to worry about-
  247. <Lunaria> Sooo... Tros. What's in the other guard house if all this stuff is here?
  248. <DM> *You dig in, and as you move the random stuff around, Flareclaw, your claw happens to scrape against a metal surface beneath the tools... despite the fact the Guardhouse is a stone building.*
  249. <Nimono> eh? what was that noise?
  250. * Flareclaw attempts to uncover the metal surface.
  251. <DM> [Tros]: You know, I.. really don't know. The West Guardhouse is my post, so they only have me here.
  252. <Lunaria> But you have served here for years?
  253. <DM> *You've uncovered a trapdoor, Flareclaw! In other words, beyond this door lies..... A PLOT DEVICE!*
  254. <DM> [Tros]: Yeah, but they've been... constructing something over there, lately.
  255. <Lunaria> (more like a plot... HOLE! :DDD)
  256. <DM> (touche)
  257. * Flareclaw tries to swing open the trap door.
  258. <Nimono> *peeks in on flareclaw* flareclaw, what was that noise I just heard...? ...???
  259. <DM> *It's.... locked.*
  260. <Nimono> ...what are you doing.
  261. <DM> [Tros]: *looking towards Flareclaw* Wait, what is that?
  262. <DM> [Tros]: Where did THAT come from?
  263. * Flareclaw ... stands up and looks at Tros with a puzzled look on his face.
  264. <DM> [Tros]: Huh, this... door wasn't here a week ago!
  265. <DM> *He goes over to investigate the door.*
  266. <Nimono> that's odd
  267. <DM> [Tros]: Hmm, it's got a handle, it's locked... but there's no lock? How the heck do you open this thing?
  268. <Lunaria> I think there is more than just moblin attacks going on in this town Tros, can we count on your help?
  269. <DM> [Tros]: *turning to Lunaria* Yeah, definitely! I'm all behind you guys, this... this isn't right.
  270. <Nimono> no lock, huh? that means it's locked from the other side
  271. <DM> [Tros]: Well.. there's always plan B.
  272. <Nimono> plan B?
  273. <Lunaria> What if weld it open?
  274. <Nimono> B for Bust It Open?
  275. <DM> *Tros takes his sword and attempts to stab at it.*
  276. <DM> (yep!)
  277. <Nimono> ...yup, thought so!
  278. * Flareclaw hastily steps to the side.
  279. <Tros> $8d10

  283. <Nimono> hey, lunaria. that spear you got. do you think maybe that could help out?
  284. <Lunaria> mmmm I guess I can take a stab
  285. * Lunaria giggles
  286. <Nimono> take a STAB at it? dohohohohohoho
  287. <Lunaria> (let me get the roll)
  288. * Tros stares blankly at you two.

  297. <Lunaria> but I think we'd have structual damage

  299. <Tros> Wait, bombs?
  300. <Lunaria> yeah I have bombs
  301. * Lunaria holds up a small bomb
  302. <Tros> Any chance you've got cherry bombs? The explosion is small enough that it shouldn't affect the room.
  303. <Tros> Ehh... screw it, try the small bomb.
  304. <Lunaria> uh, okay I guess
  305. <Tros> Everyone, let's get outta the room for a bit.
  306. * Flareclaw retreats into the main room.
  307. <Nimono> uhh, maybe we could try to contain the explosion with our shields??
  308. * Nimono retreats as well

  316. <Tros> (It actually does a flat amount of damage, not based on difference in successes. However, bombs tend to be more effective against these sorts of things.)

  318. <Tros> *You toss the bomb at the trapdoor. I'm assuming you get to the main room and close the shed door as well.*
