- That's the thing about left turns, they aren't right. Excepy this one so far. After heading down the left path is the option to turn to your right or continue straight
- WallisDMIt would appear you have chosen poorly adventurer, as you know face one of the cunning Basilisks!
- Blanca: Oh, shit. Hey there! What am I looking at?
- WallisDMIt stands ahead of you, white and lizards looking with little blue spikes on his back. It has a wide smile and very sharp teeth
- Blanca: I wave at it, wondering if it's a friendly dog on this planet. I have no innate desire to fight the thing, but keep my distance regardless.
- (Not planet, Blanca doesn't know *where* she is)
- WallisDMOh, the turn lead into a short path with a dead end and basilisk. The only route is behind you
- It approaches you slowly, humming some random tune
- Blanca: Do I know the tune?
- Like is it LET IT SNOW
- LET IT GO
- WANNA BUILD A SNOWMAN?
- Blanca really likes the color white.
- Blanca: She doesn't like that. Blanca frowns at the monster and asks it what it's name is.
- Blanca: (am i still here)
- WallisDMIt sings the Brady Bunch theme song to you, very sly
- Blanca: "Oh, Kay then. You want to tell me a story?"
- WallisDMThis phrase leads into the most heart melting, melancholic, and life changing performance of the Fresh Prince theme song that you have ever heard and ever will hear
- Blanca: "I don't get it. You have a mother whom sent you away because you got in fights? That sounds pretty weird. You should know that fighting is only okay if everyone is having fun. Since when does any well adjusted mother have that bad of a freak out when presented with a traditional strife? UNLESS you were being purposefully destructive and your mother saw it and now you really miss her and your songs are a call for help. I feel for you mister magic doggy, I really do."
- WallisDMThis prompts him to sadly do the carlton all the way to you and deliver a hug. An icy cold, scaley hug
- Blanca: Blanca hugs the poor basilisk and gives him all the comfort a young boy needs when faced with abandonment
- WallisDMHe decides to leave you alone and not try and fight by returning to the fountain
- Blanca: Blanca waves him goodbye, satisfied in her victory over the enemy with diplmancy
- so
- short of it is
- north to fountain, west and east turn.
- west turn has a forward continue path, and a north turn
- north turn has a basilisk
- does the forward continue path turn south or north ethan
- WallisDM South
- Blanca: right, which has a four way intersection
- correct?
- Hello?
- WallisDM 4 counting backwards yes
- Blanca: Alright cool, so that's settled. She turns east.
- What does she see
- WallisDM A turn going to your West
- Blanca: So it goes north.
- Alright
- What next
- WallisDM A narrow pathway, the hedges seem to come closer together
- Blanca: Blanca continues on through the narrowing hedges. She wonders if anyone stores treasure in this maze.
- WallisDM It opens into a small circular clearing with a cherub statue in the middle
- there is a path north and West of the statue
- Blanca: A giant snake or a skull child of sorts? Either way, I don't know what that is. It looks interesting however, so I'll commit it to memory.
- WallisDM A large baby. Cherubs are winged babies
- Blanca: So it's a winged snake baby?
- Oh wait not Cherubs from homestuck
- The mythical statues
- WallisDM No, just a normal baby
- Blanca: Oh, huh. Weird. The wings are very pretty.
- She uses her deduction skills to thing about all the left turns she's taken so far.
- She goes west, continueing the trend
- think, continuing*
- WallisDM The path is a curve that curves towards the North
- Blanca: Curved turns? She isn't sure what she thinks about that. It's already hard enough keeping track of all these mental maps without making it more complicated. Nevertheless, she continues on walking towards what is now apparently the north
- WallisDM There is a long pathway stretching East and West i. front of you
- Blanca: Jeez, the initial flower hallways were really long if it has all this in a single section of the maze that *should* be close to her house. Blanca decides to continue going left, and turns West
- WallisDM There you see a basilisk blocking a large wooden door
- Blanca: She approaches the basilisk guarding the door and waves in greeting. "Hi there! I saw another magical dog a while ago. Are you two related or something?"
- WallisDM He growls the tune of Who Let the Dogs Out
- Blanca: Blanca doesn't really know the lyrics to that entire song, so just the tune wouldn't allow her to read too much into it. She attempts to walk around the Basilisk to try and let the dogs out of the wooden door.
- WallisDM The Basilisk pounces in front of you
- Angrily at that
- Blanca: "I just want to see what's in the door mister doggy. Why wont you let me let the dogs out?" She says, inching closer to the side.
- WallisDM He jumps on you
- Roll initiative bby
- Blanca: she stood up to every challenge no matter how demanding her courage was amazing and her boobies were outstanding
- dice bot is dead
- Blanca: rolled a ten in dice roller
- WallisDM oh crap
- ok
- 8
- Do your stuff
- Blanca: Blanca uses a minor to pull out her Lemony's Ultra pick of awesome and uses a standard to slap the basilisk in the snout, saying ni in much the same manner you would tell a dog if it was misbehaving
- (im pming you my rolls for no clutter in main chat)
- (unless you want to roll for me)
- WallisDM no you roll for you
- Blanca: I boop it on the snout.
- You just got booped son.
- WallisDM The Basilisk is struck and boy does it hurt him
- Blanca: She ends her turn, having nothing else to do, really.
- WallisDM He attacks you (15)
- Whats your AC
- Blanca: Blanca screams as her paltry ten ac is struck fairly easily
- WallisDM :o
- The Basilisk attacks with fearsome ice magic, though he can't seem to be too adeot with it. He deals (8) damage against you
- Blanca: I'd have more if Intelligence worked like it did in 4e which is quite frankly a superior system.
- And the Magical otherwordly dogs are *actually* magical?
- WallisDM RPGStuck should just use more 4e
- Blanca: That's not fair!~
- WallisDM Oh they are quite the magical magic dogs
- Blanca: I want magic too!
- Blanca lashes out in anger, (22)
- She presumably hits, dealing a solid 9 damage which another blunt strike on the back of the lizard dog friend.
- With*
- WallisDM Lizard Dog Friend is angered
- Blanca: Before she ends her turn, she throws another strike at him with her offhand, getting a solid 7 on the attack roll.
- Her pick likely harmlessly bounces off his armor.
- WallisDM It does not hurt him at all
- Blanca: She ends her turn, shamed
- WallisDM The Basilisk gets a clean attack (11) on you
- He hits you for (14) damage
- And ends his turn somewhat limping
- Blanca: Blanca is fairly close to death herself. That bite took a huge chunk out of her. She is visibly bleeding.
- Which desperation fueling her attacks she rolls a 10+4 and a 16 for her respective attacks
- with*
- WallisDM You slaughter the basilisk amazingly and get grist, though you dont understand just what it is
- Blanca: I killed it?
- Oh gooooooood
- WallisDM The basilisk looks at you and sings the Titanic song before exploding
- Wait are those fruit gushers
- Blanca: Okay.
- I'll save all this
- Then investigate the door at some point
- Thanks for this
- WallisDMBut the door
- Its beckoning you with curiousness
- Blanca: If you desire to continue, I have no choice but to satisfy my curiosity.
- Blanca pushes open the door.
- WallisDMI just don't want to roll grist
- The door creaks open and collapses, smashing down onto the ground
- Blanca: What? I barely touched it. Jeez. 'What's in there?' She thinks as she leans into the destruction trying to see over it.
- WallisDMAhead of you is the entrance to a square space filled with tents, openings, fireplaces, and... cow men?! It would seem that if the hedge maze were called Kansas, you aren't in Kansas anymore. The stone walls of the new maze tower many feet into the sky
- Blanca: How does this even work???? Logic would dictate that she went in a circle and then somehow ended up at a different maze? She doesn't understand this anymore.
- And cow men? She goes to investigate.
- She hopes, quietly, that they did not have any dogs.
- WallisDMAs you enter the square, you hear shifting in the hedge maze, mechanical shifting. Almost like suddenly noticing background noise. The cow men notice you snd welcome you to s fjreolace that four of them are sitting around
- Blanca: Oh so her mental map is useless!? Blanca is kind of mad about that. She fumes in silence for a few moments before brightening up and sitting around the fire with the cow men.
- "Hi! Do you guys know what that dog outside was all about?"
- WallisDMA large black furred cow man stands up, with braided black beard hanging down from his face. "Those are the basilisks, not dogs. They are terrible and terrorize anyone they find"
- Blanca: "What? The one I just fought was mean but the one I met before that had a very nice singing voice. You say they are all terrible? And why did I get candy from destroying one?"
- WallisDM"The nice one was pretending, or trying to use you," he turns to the others and then back at you,"That candy is what some refer to as grist, and we havent yet found a use for it. We even tried to eat it when our food got low and well... I wouldn't recommend it"
- Blanca: "But Gushers!!" Blanca starts to argue, before wondering how she would even summon the 'Grist' in the first place.
- It dissipated when she touched it.
- "How did you eat them? Mine disappeared."
- WallisDM"You aren't normal...," he whispers something about gushers,"You are not like us. You can utilize and take the grist, but we cannot use it at all"
- Blanca: "Is grist good? Should I have lots of it? Also how rude of my I never asked your name. I'm Blanca! Nice to meet you cow misters!"
- WallisDMHe starts to laugh deeply and heavily about "cow people" and says to you slightly smiling,"Child, we are minotaurs! It's good to meet you Blanca, I am Uth,grr and i lead this encampment of my people who left in search of a better place to live. And yes, more grist will lead to more possibilities, though im not sure what they are exactly."
- Blanca: "Minotaurs, that sounds really cool! Thank you for the information Uth,grr."
- Blanca sits for a few moments before having a great idea.
- "Why don't you live in my house? I'm almost entirely certain that I'm lost after hearing something going on in the forest, but we could make it there if we work together!"
- WallisDM"Im afraid The Garden is forbidden to half our population and sacred to the other. Nobody will step foot within the green grounds no matter the circumstances"
- Blanca: "Well... What about outside the mazes? I haven't looked inside the stone place, but there has to be some way out of it!"
- WallisDM"There are four areas that are outside the maze, each on a center of this planet. The first is The Garden and weve only seen the second but there dont appear to be any entrances to it"
- ((its like imagine a plus on the planet))
- ((thats how the spots are aligned))
- Blanca: She looks at the stone, getting a smile on her face.
- She waves at the Minataurs in a sudden and unexplained manner as she jumps to her feet and runs to the stone walls.
- She is going to climb this shit.
- WallisDMClimbing this shit will be no small feat, and will require extreme courage
- Where do you start your climb
- Blanca: Is there anywhere where it might look easier
- WallisDMTo the side of the encampment lies a good wall. Uth,grr hands you two Minotaur's Mutton, a special meat hunted from maze creatures, and rushes to tend to the camp
- Blanca: She thanks him for his assistance in her travels, consumes one nearly instantly and puts the other in her sylladex.
- She is now sitting pretty at a pretty solid 27/33
- Blanca: She sends her pick deep into the stone as far as she can get it.
- AND THEN CLIMBS UP THIS FUCKING WALL
- WallisDMEach strike will be more treacherous than the last, roll your climb skill twice
- Blanca: Her rolls are clear to you in your private messages
- WallisDMYou successfully reach about half way to the wall. Its windy here and very dangerous. Roll it 3 times and acrobatics once
- WallisDMWind schmind, you ascend with effortless triumph and reach the top of this wall, when a gust of wind strimes you directly
- Roll acrobatics, or die trying
- Blanca: Roll(1d20)+0:
- 17,+0
- Total:17
- WallisDMThe wind tosses you off the wall and you fall around 50 meters to the ground
- Psyche!
- You dont even lose your balance and hoist yourself onto the top
- Breathtaking view
- Blanca: Once she finds her bearing she slams her pick into the ground, and fucking takes a goddamn break
- Holding on for dear life because that was such an exhilarating ninety degree climb
- Blanca climbed fifty meters?? She peeks over the edge of the wall and gives a quiet whoop of excitement
- Adrenaline coursing through her veins
- What a rush!
- This is entirely the best thing she's ever done
- WallisDMIts certainly an amazing accomplishment
- Blanca: Her arms are dead tired after such a climb
- So she decides to lay on her back on the stone with her hand still on the pick lodged in stone
- Maybe close her eyes for a little bit..
- WallisDMThe walls are wide and there is no chance of slipping off
- Unless you roll like a madman or a pig in mud
- Blanca: With that thought in mind, she takes willful mind to *not* sleep because what if Blanca does roll in her sleep? That would be a disaster!
- After a good ten minutes she shakily gets up, coming down from her adrenaline rush
- She takes a look around and wonders if she can see her house from here.
- WallisDMYou noticed upon pulling yourself up that the entire maze is not the same stone, but enormous sections of different substances, one pure white with smoke rising from it, presumably minotaur camps, and far is a lush green maze with ancient walls. There are many more
- Blanca: But can she see her house from here
- WallisDMOf course! And the hedge...maze? It appears to have become a circle around the perimeter of the maze, with little patches of bushes here and there. More fountains are in the area and littke frogs can be seen hopping around
- Blanca: She memorizes the path to her house, and then spends a maximum of an hour sitting up on the wall looking at the maze, wondering what it even does when it explodes into mechanical whirs
- WallisDMGood thing you mention that. Off in the distance you can see black walls shufting, slowly sliding. A fire stops burning after the walls move
- Blanca: A fire?
- There's a fire in the hedge maze?
- WallisDMOh no the fire was in the black walls far away. The smoke stopped abruptly
- Blanca: So do all the mazes shift? Can I look behind me and see some of the more esoteric mazes shifting? I continue to study the hedge garden maze, wondering if it moved at all, and was instead that black maze in the distance.
- WallisDMOnly certain places, though you wouldn't know where. The garden maze doesnt move, and doesnt appear to be abke to having lost all of its maze features and becoming a green garden field
- Blanca: Well she memorizes the path back to her house and glares uneasily at the black maze off in the distance. She turns and walks along the giant stone walls of this massive labyrinth she has found herself above.
- One thing she didn't anticipate was her inability to get down
- Might be a problem
- WallisDMIt would seem the white walls are considerably lower than the stone
- Blanca: Considerably as in I can't get on them without serious risk of injury?
- WallisDMThe stone walls seem to adjust along the transition to white, sloping and becoming steps aroung the borders
- It would be difficult but essily more do able
- Blanca: Does all the stone become white?
- WallisDMIt becomes more than just white. However this white area is across the way of the stone maze and not too close by
