- Action / Non-action verbs
- = Dynamic / Stative verbs
- ---
- Actions require some time to do. They can be repeated. They can be interrupted.
- (If I do one action and you do 1000, you need more time than I do.)
- Non-actions don’t require time. They are simply true or not.
- - We never use progressive forms for non-action verbs.
- ---
- p. 17 focus 3 - progressive (every progressive form must use an action verb)
- [be] + verb(ing) (All progressive forms include this.)
- Every time I see her, she smiles. = She smiles briefly and then stops.
