  6. [2016-04-27 13:23:08] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The shaman scowls at Jugeote and Kifaa, then turns to CopyCat. "Every zebra here stands against the darkness, knowing we face desolation and death. We stand strong, allied with the spirits. And we *shall* drive the darkness from this land."
  7. [2016-04-27 13:23:17] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The shaman tells CopyCat, "The spirits have looked into the hearts of your friends and found them lacking. If the spirits find yours brave and noble, then we will turn the prisoners over to you. If you are craven as well, you shall join them."

  9. [2016-04-27 13:23:55] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The pool of the cenote begins to glow. A brilliant golden light rises up, pushing out of the water. The first of the spirits to answer the shaman's summons has arrived: a glowing, golden stag -- easily three ponies tall -- made entirely of swirling, incandescent light. The spiritual stag shines, seeming to epitomize all that is royal, patient and true.

  11. [2016-04-27 13:24:11] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The second spirit appears from above: a great beast, dark and dire, embodying the most idealized and terrifying legends of a wolf. It stands at the rim of the cenote and lets out a noble hunter's howl.
  12. [2016-04-27 13:24:17] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mitzi can't resist the urge and lets out a howl of her own.
  13. [2016-04-27 13:24:29] <Mare-Do-Well> 3CopyCat gasps, her eyes wide as she looks at the majestic stag. "Oh... my... now that is handsome. And beautiful. I'm starting to like Get Lost's idea more and more," she murmurs.
  14. [2016-04-27 13:24:36] <Mare-Do-Well> 3At the feet of the dark wolf of legend, the third spirit appears, peeking her head over the rim. She is a fox -- sleek and graceful, but in size and appearance easily mistakable for an actual animal if not for the piercing intelligence in her eyes. The fox spirit leaps down into the cenote, gliding about the glowing hooves of the stag.

  16. [2016-04-27 13:24:52] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Shadows expand, threatening to eat the light of the many torches and fires, and all falls into absolute silence as the final spirit arrives. It is the only spirit to model itself in an equine form, but a distorted one -- a tall, gaunt zebra devoid of stripes and without a face. Black tendrils writhe from its back.

  23. [2016-04-27 13:27:35] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Primordial, iconic, enigmatic. Spirits are embodiments of primal concepts -- virtues, vices, forces of nature and even nature itself.
  24. [2016-04-27 13:29:42] <Mare-Do-Well> 3To deal with spirits is to bargain with beings beyond our kin -- simultaneously familiar and alien. Their ways are their own, their motivations difficult to ascertain, and their demands often understandable only in their symbolism.
  25. [2016-04-27 13:30:55] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The Amulet of Atonement was made to craft a bridge between the world of mortals -- ponies and zebras alike -- and the world of spirits. Those who are touched by them carry the marks of that touch forever.

  29. [2016-04-27 13:35:33] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The Faceless sinks into the shadows that it has drawn forth, then rises up directly before Golden_Dream. The small earth pony freezes, locked in a stare with the spirit as its inky tendrils begin to wrap around her.
  30. [2016-04-27 13:39:08] * Mare-Do-Well 3groans. "Okay, it's going to be one of those staring things..." she says, her words sounding distant and ghostly as they somehow cut the silence. "But that doesn't look pleasant. Hey..."
  31. [2016-04-27 13:40:46] * Mare-Do-Well 3starts towards The Faceless and Golden_Dream, only to be blocked by The Fox. "What...?" she starts to say, but The Fox speaks.
  32. [2016-04-27 13:40:53] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Her voice is pleasant, curious, filled with intelligence.
  33. [2016-04-27 13:41:28] <Mare-Do-Well> 7"We've met. When did we meet?"
  34. [2016-04-27 13:43:40] * Noble_Heart ruffles her feathers and frowns slightly. Meeting The Fox... Spirit of Cunning, perhaps? She was uncertain they had ever met such a spirit, but this journey had been nothing if not strange.
  35. [2016-04-27 13:46:49] * CopyCat takes a reflexive step back at the Faceless' tendrils reach for Golden Dream. Remembering their touch which had brought back unpleasant memories was upsetting, but after a moment she stands firm, and steps back into her original position. Those memories were her past. Things that had been and gone. They could not hurt her. She was so much stronger than they. She had her present, she had her friends, to give

  37. [2016-04-27 13:47:24] * Shatara fidgets a little, glancing between the spirits, in a mixture of awe and simply not being equiped to deal with crazy spirit stuff.
  38. [2016-04-27 13:47:43] * Bookwright stands small and waits too.
  39. [2016-04-27 13:48:00] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The Golden Stag turns His head, His stare landing on Mare-Do-Well and the heroine costume seems to ripple and vanish, baring Rainbow Dash.
  40. [2016-04-27 13:49:35] * Get_Lost listens quietly, is not sure how to deal with spirits, so, lets the others do the talking
  41. [2016-04-27 13:50:26] * Get_Lost in the meantime, sends parlay out for a quest: pics of prehistoric zebra plots are most relevant mission objective at the moment
  42. [2016-04-27 13:51:26] <Rainbow_Dash_> 3The Fox cocks her head, looking at Rainbow Dash. "Huh? I think you've got the wrong pony... ghost. I'm pretty sure I would remember meeting a fox spirit before."
  43. [2016-04-27 13:52:29] * Rainbow_Dash_ 3suddenly gasps, her colors becoming abnormally vibrant, cutting through the dark. All around are hit with a vision.

  47. [2016-04-27 13:56:14] <Rainbow_Dash_> 3The voice of Twilight Sparkle cuts through the darkness. "You think you can destroy The Elements of Harmony just like that? Well, you're wrong, because the spirits of The Elements of Harmony are right here."
  48. [2016-04-27 13:57:00] <Rainbow_Dash_> 3The scene plays out in the minds of every witness. "...And Rainbow Dash, who could not abandon her friends for her own heart's desire represents the spirit of... loyalty!"

  54. [2016-04-27 14:02:21] * Get_Lost noms popcorn and watches visions. they are educational AND fun!
  55. [2016-04-27 14:02:25] <Rainbow_Dash_> 3Rasdon steps forward. "Zebras of the Light, displaced people, prisoners: we are honored to be granted an audience by the Grand Spirits of Honesty, Nobility, Loyalty and Secrets."
  56. [2016-04-27 14:03:35] * Noble_Heart raises her eyebrows slightly. An unusual, and impressive, array for certain. "Secrets We have met before. But it is impressive to see others of such stature coming to such a meeting."
  57. [2016-04-27 14:10:35] * Bookwright "And the fox is the Spirit of Loyalty. So the others are Honesty and Nobility... I have to say, I'm impressed by the resources Rasdon and company have."
  58. [2016-04-27 14:12:14] * Noble_Heart frowns slightly. "It says a great deal of the threat and danger of the Empress, that she has such powerful enemies, yet still holds sway over so much of the world."
  59. [2016-04-27 14:13:28] <Rainbow_Dash_> 3Rasdon replies, "The task before us is monumental: to bring low the Quetzalcóatl Empress. To restore light and life and peace to this dark-entombed land. The spirits side with us in this effort. Without them, there would be no chance. But this is as dangerous to them as it is to us, and their agreement with us is a cautious one."

So they will not aid us if we harbor even one amongst us whose heart is craven or cowardly. Those who are not strong of character and brave must be sacrificed for the uncompromising pact."
  61. [2016-04-27 14:16:23] * Noble_Heart bristles slightly at that insinuation, ruffling her feathers in irritation, but bites her tongue for the moment.
