  1. For my refusal to work society has punished me by forcing me to spend every single one of my 25 years on this planet living with my parents. I accept that I will never have my own place, car, friends, girlfriend, clothes, money ect. I lost all contact with my friends and family. I am just a burden to my friends without money or a car. At this point I'm not willing to take part in a system that has let me suffer for as long as it has. I want to prevent people from being hurt by this system, not take part in it.
  2.
  3. I don't need "help." A psychiatrist can't help me because the psychiatrist is trapped under the same circumstances I am. What I really need is the ability to make decisions in terms of my own well being and livelihood. I need the things required to function in modern life. Currently I'm being denied those things. Talking won't fix that.
  4.
  5. People have told me before that opting out of this system won't change anything, but that's my entire point. This system doesn't have to deny people like me personhood. It chooses to do so based on a arbitrary number. I now strongly believe all humans deserve food regardless of their number "value." No human should have to give up years of their own life only to earn things necessary for survival, especially in a post hunter gatherer society. People who support this system don't believe everyone deserves life. They believe only workers deserve life.
  6.
  7. I wouldn't take part in such a clearly immoral system even if it was only taking a year of my time, but people willfully give up 40. In my opinion giving up 40 years of your life to do tricks to earn things every human deserves isn't a sign of mental maturity or something to boast about. There is no way you can give up 40 years and end up as well rounded of a person as you would have if you spent that time with family, friends, learning, traveling and living at your own pace.
  8.
  9. Currently under this system people actually rally against the use of self driving trucks as it will decrease the amount of jobs. This system actually tries to create more work even if there is no work that needs to be done. The world we live in could already be much more automated if it weren't for arbitrary numbers preventing humanities true potential. We could already be educating everyone, but instead we reserve education for those with enough money. I can't even imagine how a successful alien race would look at the idea of only educating certain members of our species based on paper amount. Probably in disgust like I do.

  11. edit - Comment from another thread - "Don’t want to live with your parents, and have full say in what you do? GET A FUCKING JOB AND MOVE OUT"
  12.
  13. Just thought it was interesting. They claim the path to having "full say" in my life is to start giving up my time almost everyday for the next 40 or so years. Clearly being forced to do things against ones own will is in no way having full say over your own life. It's pretty close to being as far from it as you could get.

  25. Let me say that I truly admire your sense of humanity in-spite of all the hardship and bullying people in our situation face. I'm in a very similar situation, and I know that it takes great strength to stand up for yourself and for what is right and moral. You are not alone, I know it feels like that so often, but it is just an illusion, human beings are connected and depend on each other, the internet has brought everyone closer togeather despite how much reactionaries just love to shit on it. The people here and leftists tend to be very empathetic and warm-hearted people, please know that you will always have friends and people who care about you. And you can always send me a PM if you need to vent or talk <3

  35. Capitalism is so effective at creating value that probably only 20% of people actually need to be employed with the majority of work being bullshit jobs - if it isn't the case now it definitely will be in the future. The system should be able to provide for everyone's basic needs such as food and free accommodation. But the only way it'll happen is if people work hard to make it happen - every powerful entity in society is against it. Having a population freed from being wage slaves with plenty of time on their hands? Nothing would be more dangerous to the existing power structures.

  53. In no way do I want to start an argument, and I generally disagree with most of the things posted on this sub, HOWEVER your comment has me genuinely curious:
  54.
  55. What do you mean by “alternate living community”? What are the goals of this community? How does it function? What kind of people make up the population?
  56.
  57. Feel free to just ignore me, but I am genuinely curious, and I like to learn how people with different views than I have view the world. Have a nice day/night!

  90. What are you planning to do when your parents die?
  91.
  92. I'm the single breadwinner for my family and I can't afford not to give up hours of my life I won't get back every day. There's no parent to feed me or give me Internet or put a roof over my head if I stop.

  154. You speak of automation but you are not willing to do anything to eliminate work.
  155.
  156. Under your system who would work towards eliminating work via automation someone has to actually develop the systems? You seem to be passionate about this but not willing to get your boots dirty to increasing automation and decreasing work. Seems like you are just work neutral not anti-work or pro-work.
  157.
  158. Wouldn't living with your parent de-facto be contributing to work culture none the less since someone still is doing work to support you (your parents). Work is still being done but you are just privileged enough to not have to do it?

  282. You have all of human knowledge at you finger tips. Create something valuable to you. The best part about not being special is that others will find it valuable as well. Sell what you create and earn the freedom you want. It's not easy and will require personal transformation.
  283.
  284. Checking out of the game is the first step. Lower your expenses and work for yourself. You'll fuck it up but that part of the process. I'm not anti-work, I'm anti working for other people. You have a well of human potential within you. Draw from that and get started.

  309. You're suffering now. And you're being a burden.
  310.
  311. I don't like the system anymore than you. But some type of work has to be done to ensure your survival. Your life is your own responsibility. And in modern times, as dreary as many jobs out there are, there are ample opportunities and ways for you to enrich yourself and move forward with life while pushing back against / protesting against a failing society.
  312.
  313. Opting out isn't helping you grow. We have to make the best for ourselves with what we have available to us. We have to use the tools they give us against them.
  314.
  315. The truth is that as a species we've never had it easier. Could you imagine how hard life was during the industrial revolution? Or even before that? Perhaps serfdom and days of back breaking toil in the fields would be of preference?
  316.
  317. It's good to be ideological and to want more. But you also have to be realistic.
  318.
  319. Jobs are shit. And I hate being compelled to work. The system is insidious in its design in that at present it is almost impossible to create the life you want outside it.
  320.
  321. But it's much worse I think to never explore your potential as a human because of your refusal to accept and work with the way the world is.
  322.
  323. Do, or do not. It's up to you.
