- # Module 2 Professional Development:
- ## Written reflection:
- * How you've used agile as a process at Turing and what kind of project management tools you utilized. Address these questions:
- * What were you already doing?
- I was writing code in the methods of 'design', 'develop', then 'test.
- * What did you put into place in Module Two?
- More heavily focused on conceptualizing the project before actually writing code for it, so the 'design' stage lasted longer & there was less work to be done later on. Using wireframes, sketching, whiteboarding out problems all helped. I was also able to do TDD in some projects.
- * What was effective?
- The wireframes I don't really find that effective, but I think I would need a heavily css-sided project to see the value of it, which none of our Mod2 projects really are. Whiteboarding out long, complicated functions before hand really helped though.
- * What do you want to improve on in future projects?
- I'd love to be able to write more thorough tests.
- * Description of the role you played in your pair/group projects this module -- what was your role as a teammate? How did you utilize * your strengths and leadership skills?
- I have many strengths, but I don't know if I have any leadership skills. I'm not sure that's the write word. I have skills that are commonly called "leadership" skills, but I don't like being a leader. Leadership is not one of my strengths and I don't think partnerships need a 'leader'. It needs two people on equal footing with equal authority.
- Anyway that aside my role as a teammate involved me trying to be more flexible with my schedule to meet my partner's needs. I think sometimes I suffered for it, so I don't think I've found the right balance yet whenever I get more rigid partners. I also tried to be more flexible in general with what went in to the project. I have a major hesitance with 'killing my darlings' and I hate even more when I have partners that delete my code because they think we don't need it, so I'd rather let them drive the code and be in more of a navigator position, I guess, which I tried out this mod.
- I was more open to asking my class for help this mod. In mod1 I usually went straight to mod4 as they people who "knew the most stuff" and sort've ignored my class a lot of the time. I think the group projects this mod really helped me get out of that mindset.
