  1. Zebu-Cards
  2. Clubs
  3. AC - You may or may not _____.
  4. You may or may not notice the comfortable sensation in your hands. So you think about the comfortable sensation in your hands, and if you feel them you think, "Of course I notice them." If you don't feel them you think, "Maybe I'm just not noticing them", so you think about it a little more and pretty soon you're feeling comfortable sensations that you're feeling comfortable sensations that I said were there all along.
  5. 2C - I'm wondering if you'll _____, ... or not.
  6. This or not ending is the greatest way to dodge resistance. If you see the other person smiling and nodding their head, then don't bother to add the or not, who needs it? I'm wondering if you'll use this language pattern constantly, (pause, what, no enthusiastic agreement?) ... or not.
  7. 3C - People can, you know, _____.
  8. I'm just talking about what other people can do, I'm not talking about you! You know, that you know clause, it seems to imply in an ambiguous fashion that you knew this already. People can, you know, find ways to make these changes easily and comfortably.
  9. 4C - Maybe you haven't ..., yet.
  10. Maybe you haven't, maybe you have, I'm just making an observation, but when that yet comes along, there's a strong implication that sooner or later you're going to! Maybe you haven't decided to buy copies of Zebu for all of your friends... yet. Who knows? ... There's still time... It's just an observation.
  11. 5C - One might, you know, _____.
  12. One might, and then again one might not, who knows? ... you know! One might, you know, just relax and let the learning take place on a deep level. One might, you know, understand how to use this at just the right times.
  13. 6C - You might want to _____, ... now.
  14. This "now" is the trickiest part. If you slur it together with the rest of the sentence it just adds an imperative quality to the embedded command. If you pause and then say it, it becomes a powerful command all on its own. You might want to close your eyes now. You might want to let that feeling of comfort move up your arm, ... now.
  15. 7C - You could _____.
  16. You could, of course you could, you have free will. You could sleep on it tonight, and call me in the morning. You could let this process of transformation take place without even knowing how it was happening. Huh? You could just let go and relax. OK? OK.
  17. 8C - You might _____.
  18. You might, and whatever you might do might be even more likely after having it suggested like this. You might want to make this change more than anything. You might discover that your eyes don't want to open.
  19. 9C - A person could, <name>, _____.
  20. A person could, Bob, go to work tomorrow with a new outlook. A person could, Susie, develop a sense of perspective on this situation. A person could, (your name here), write a big check to that fun loving Zebu team. Heck, it's a free world!
  21. TC - You may _____.
  22. You may find this experience very valuable. You may get confused about what used to bother you. You may want to relax. You may like what you see here. You may, go ahead, I give you permission.
  23. JC - One may, <name>, _____.
  24. One may, Sara, feel comfortable imagining standing on that balcony. One may, Jerry, forgive someone even if you don't think you want to. One may, Jane, be excused from the room AFTER you raise your hand.
  25. QC - A person may _____, because ...
  26. A person may get permission to do what I'm suggesting, because I'm giving it to them. Who said my because has to make any logical sense? And besides, the because clause is an opportunity for another suggestion. A person may just stop drinking, because you can remember all of your reasons for not drinking each time you feel an urge to take a drink.
  27. KC - You don't have to _____.
  28. This is called a truism. On the surface, the statement is true, and can't be argued with. Beneath the surface lies an embedded command. You don't have to understand how this works, in order to use it. You don't have to help me with the dishes. Really.
  29. Diamonds
  30. AD - One doesn't have to, <name>, _____.
  31. One doesn't really have to, does one. It seems so formal and detached and impersonal, (your name here), or does it? One doesn't have to, Betty, close your eyes as we begin. One doesn't have to, Josef relax deeper and deeper with each breath.
  32. 2D - People don't have to, <name>, _____.
  33. People don't have to, but they do anyway, doesn't it seem like that? And when I use your name, it makes it so personal. People don't have to respond favorably when you use their names, but you know (your name here), they sure do. People don't have to, Marilyn, listen carefully to everything I say.
  34. 3D - You may not know if _____.
  35. When I wonder whether you know something, I presuppose that something exists and is true. You may not know if this is going to be fun. You may not know if you're going to enjoy this SO much that you'll have to write me and tell me about it.
  36. 4D - It's easy to _____, is it not?
  37. Is it not is another one of those endings that softens a statement into a question. And it's a bit confusing to disagree with, is it not? It's easy to go into a trance, is it not? It's easy to discover something special deep inside, is it not? And if I say that something is easy, you will probably try doing it to see if I'm right.
  38. 5D - A person may not know if _____.
  39. For added fun a person can change the subject of the sentence halfway through to you, it's mildly confusing, and it underline that you aren't really talking about a person in the abstract anyway. A person may not know if you're going to have a meaningful experience. A person may not know if your arm will slowly raise up automatically.
  40. 6D - You are able to _____.
  41. You are able to enjoy being at your work, because you have a great sense of humour. You are able to relax your hands completely. It's another truism, I'm just observing the obvious. You are able to re-read this to make sure you get it.
  42. 7D - <fact>, <fact>, <fact>, and _____.
  43. When you start off saying a string of facts, the other person internally is thinking yes, yes, yes ... yes, and they get into the habit of agreeing with you, then you hit them with your suggestion. You've made yourself comfortable in that chair, I'm going to talk for a while, you can listen to the words I say, and drift off into a deep state of relaxation.
  44. 8D - A person is able to _____.
  45. What do you do when I comment on what other people are able to do? You probably check to see if you can do it too. A person is able to eat less food, and enjoy it even more, when you can savour each mouthful of food and chew it slowly.
  46. 9D - ... once told me, "_____"
  47. Quote someone else and put your message in the quote. The nice thing is that they said it, you didn't. My babysitter once told me, "Close your eyes and go to sleep or I'll whack you in the head!"
  48. TD - ... said, "_____"
  49. Quote somebody else and put your message in the quote. Through the years again and again my students have said, "Quotes are one of the most fun way to deliver indirect messages." In fact, one of them once said' "If you can't use quotes to deliver a message, you must be brain dead!" But that was him, I wouldn't say such a thing.
  50. JD - If you _____, then ...
  51. This is a cause and effect statement, but it doesn't have to make too much sense. In order to verify that the then part is true, the person has to do the if part, which is what you want. If you imagine yourself in your favorite place, then you will feel feelings of comfort in your body. If you rest your hands on the chair like this, then you'll be ready to begin.
  52. QD - When you _____, then ...
  53. I say when X, then Y, and you have to do X and then search for Y in order to understand what I'm saying. Pretty tricky huh? When you get in touch with that loving and forgiving part of yourself, then an opportunity will open up for a deep transformation. Check it out.
  54. KD - Will you _____ now, or will you _____?
  55. Will you do it now, or will you do it later. It sound like you're getting lots of choices. Will you close your eyes and relax now, or will you try to keep your eyes open a little longer while other parts of your body relax first?
  56. Spades
  57. AS - I'm wondering if...
  58. I'm wondering if you will stop smoking this afternoon. I'm wondering if that comfortable feeling if your feet will spread up into the rest of your body. I'm wondering if you can pretend you've never smoked in your life, and imagine what it is like to go through a typical day. I never told you to do anything, I was just wondering...
  59. 2S - Maybe you'll _____.
  60. Maybe you'll direct some unusual embedded commands to your friends while you play Zebu. Maybe you'll dream of new ways to say things tonight. Maybe you'll spot the embedded commands in these sentences.
  61. 3S - You probably already know...
  62. You probably already know many ways to feel good without smoking. And what do you do in response to this statement? You might try to think of the things that I say you know, and of course, you are likely to find them if you think long enough! If I wanted you to really search for those answers I could say: On a deep level, you probably already know how useful indirect communication can be.
  63. 4S - Don't _____ too quickly.
  64. This phrase has the implication that what I suggest will definitely happen anyway, and all I really care about is when it happens. And if you are resisting me, your internal response may well be: "Oh yeah, who says I can't do this quickly! I'll show you!" isn't that great? Don't stop smoking too quickly. Don't go into a deep trance too quickly, just relax and listen to my voice for a while.
  65. 5S - Can you imagine...?
  66. You probably already know that people are more likely to do what they are more familiar with, and that imagining something is a great way to create familiarity. Can you imagine what you would do on an airplane if you really enjoyed flying? Can you imagine all the situations where you would use this language pattern if you practiced it and really knew it?
  67. 6S - One can, <name>, _____.
  68. By adding the person's name at the beginning of the embedded command, you will make it much more powerful. One can, Eve, feel good for no reason at all. One can, Greta, enjoy the experience of hypnosis without knowing exactly what is going to happen. One can, Joe, let the eyes close just because it feels good. Who can? ... One can. We're not talking about you Joe.
  69. 7S - You might notice the feelings ... as you ...
  70. "You might notice the feelings" directs attention to internal body sensations, which is good for hypnotic inductions. "As you" provides another opportunity for an indirect suggestion. You might notice the feelings in your feet, as you relax them completely. You might notice the feelings of comfort as you begin to relax your whole body.
  71. 8S - A person might, <name>, _____.
  72. Say the name close to the second half of the sentence, and it becomes a personal embedded command. A person might, Sarah, take the lessons from that situation and let go of the old emotions. A person might, Allen, find some good reasons that make losing weight compelling.
  73. 9S - One could _____, because ...
  74. "Because" is the magic word, because it lends emotional credibility to whatever goes before it. One could use the word 'because' after important suggestions, because you enjoy trying new things. One could let this learning go to a very deep place inside, because you may not be completely aware of how important it is yet.
  75. TS - You can _____, because ...
  76. Here's that "because" word again. You can just use it and discover how powerful it is, because you can pretty much say anything you want after it. You can believe it works, because it is such a nice way to keep talking and keep the suggestions coming. You can even use it in everyday conversations, because people love to hear reasons for things.
  77. JS - You can _____, can you not?
  78. "Can you not" is such a great way to end a statement. It turns it into a question which is less threatening, and it's so confusing to try to disagree with. You can appreciate my point, can you not? You can relax into that chair, can you not? You can allow new answers to come to you, can you not?
  79. QS - I don't know if _____.
  80. I don't know if you're going to like this game better than any other learning game you've ever played. I don't know what things in particular you will enjoy the most. I really don't know if this experience is going to change your life. Don't ask me, I don't know.
  81. KS - You might notice how good ... feels, when you ...
  82. The hidden assumption is that what I'm suggesting feels good, and the "when you" part further assumes that you are going to do it! You might notice how good your eyes feel when you close them and they stay closed. You might notice how good your arms feel when you relax them as they rest n that chair.
  83.
  84. Hearts
  85. AH - Will you ..., or ..., or ...
  86. This is the form of infinite choice, and I'll cover all the possibilities so you can't help but do what I say. And if you get into the habit of doing what I say, sometime I may begin to actually lead you. Will your hand begin to lift up automatically, or will it relax just where it is, or will you notice certain sensations in your hand that you can enjoy.
  87. 2H - I wouldn't tell you to _____, because ...
  88. I wouldn't tell you (here I am telling you anyway), and you can't disagree with me, because I said upfront I wouldn't tell you. And I use the magic word because to make another comment, because it lends authority to what I just said, and it carries attention away from the embedded command before you consciously recognize it.
  89. 3H - How would it feel if you ... ?
  90. In order to answer this question, you have to imagine what I propose, which is the whole purpose for asking the question. How would you feel if you felt comfortable around dogs, and you could just go up and pet one. How would it feel if you had already made this change?
  91. 4H - I could tell you that ... but ...
  92. I could tell you that ..., but I won't, so you have no reason to resist or take offense at whatever I just didn't tell you. I could tell you that this experience will give you more confidence and self-assurance, but I would rather let you discover that for yourself. I could tell you this is a great way to avoid resistance, but you probably understand that already.
  93. 5H - Sooner or later ...
  94. Sooner or later you'll resolve this present difficulty, and begin to enjoy the simple things in life again. Sooner or later, you'll want to close your eyes. Sooner or later, you're going to be able to look back on this and laugh about it. Jeepers, just about everything happens sooner or later.
  95. 6H - Sometime ...
  96. Sometime, somewhere, there will be a person in a situation very much like yours who will take a deep breath and just let it go. Sometime, you're going to feel better about this. Sometime you are going to understand this from a viewpoint where it all make sense. Sometime you might indirectly get a person to imagine a time when they have the resources you want them to feel.
  97. 7H - Eventually...
  98. Eventually everything comes to pass. Eventually what I want to direct your attention to will probably come to pass as well. Eventually you will develop a deep understanding of these difficult events in your life, and you will find some hidden value in them. Eventually, indirect language patterns will become second nature to you. Imagine that.
  99. 8H - Try to resist ...
  100. Try to resist implies that you will try, but you won't be able to do it. You can use your voice inflection to strengthen this implication. Try to resist the sensation that your hands are becoming so relaxed that they just won't move. Try to resist, a deepening sensation of relaxation as you breath.
  101. 9H - You might not have noticed ...
  102. You might not have noticed how often you direct other people's awareness while you are talking to them. Directing awareness to various parts of the body generally creates relaxation and confusion, both induce hypnosis. You might not have notice the comfortable sensations of your socks on your feet. You might not have noticed the way the chair supports you... beneath your legs... beneath your arms... behind your shoulders...
  103. TH - Some people ...
  104. Who are those some people? The first thing a person does is to check inside to see if they are one of those people, so give them something you want them to check for. Some people get feelings of comfort in this office and want to go into trance right away. Some people have hidden strengths that they discover can help them in situation very much like yours.
  105. JH - Can you really enjoy ...?
  106. Can you really enjoy having your eyes get heavy and start to shut? Can you really enjoy taking a deep breath and relaxing deeply? The question isn't if you can do it, or if you will do it, the question is how much will you enjoy doing it. Of course, the only way to answer the question is to do it.
  107. QH - What happens when you _____?
  108. In order to answer this question you must imagine what I am suggesting, which is the reason I ask. Remember: in the area of emotions and feelings, people learn just as well by vividly imagining experiences as by physically having them. What happens when you just decide you aren't going to let him bother you anymore?
  109. KH - You might notice the sensation in ... while you ...
  110. You can induce hypnosis by directing attention to various parts of the body, You might notice the sensations of your shoes on your feet, the sensation of the chair beneath you, the feeling of the card in your hand. You might notice the sensations in your hands while you relax and pretend that you can't move them.
  111.
  112.
  113. Salad-Cards
  114. Clubs
  115. AC - Don't _____ too quickly.
  116. You're going to do it, it's just a matter of how quickly, and we wouldn't want it to happen too quickly, now, would we? It's better to savour it! Don't go into a trance too quickly. Don't close your eyes too quickly. Don't learn these patterns too quickly.
  117. 2C - How does it feel when you _____?
  118. How does it feel? It's a fair question, and in order to find out, you have to at least imagine what I've asked. How does it feel when you allow yourself to relax deeply? How does it feel when you get in touch with the part of your body that feels the best? How does it feel when you imagine using these patterns skilfully?
  119. 3C - How quickly can you _____.
  120. I'm not asking if you can, just how quickly you can. How quickly can you start to notice the effects of trance? How quickly can you become aware of the changes you're making at an unconscious level? How quickly can you imagine really seeing the benefits of learning these patterns?
  121. 4C - How would it feel if you _____?
  122. The "would" makes it theoretical, so it's safe to go there. But you can change the tense part way through for extra impact. How would it feel if you suddenly resolve to stop smoking? How would it feel if you find a new way of perceiving this problem? How would it feel if you fully master these patterns?
  123. 5C - I could say _____, but _____.
  124. I could say it, but I'm not going to, so it wont ruffle your feathers. Except I already did! I could say you have all the answers within you, but you already know that. I could say that you will make those changes quickly and easily, but it's going to be a few enjoyable minutes before you know it to be true. I could say that these cards will massively enhance your skills, but you're already recognizing that, aren't you?
  125. 6C - I don't know exactly how _____.
  126. Not exactly, but it's going to happen. I don't know exactly how you're going to go into a trance. I don't know exactly how you'll find these learnings helping you the most. I don't know exactly how you're going to use these patterns. That's for you to find out.
  127. 7C - I don't know if you've already begun to notice _____.
  128. I don't , so there's only you that can. I don't know if you've already begun to notice certain sensation in you body. I don't know if you've already begun to notice your eyelids starting to become heavier. I don't know if you've already begun to notice the positive effects of using these cards.
  129. 8C - I wonder _____.
  130. Isn't it wonderful to wonder? Of course, when I wonder, you have to process the meaning of what I'm wondering about, I wonder if you'll just forget that you ever had that problem. I wonder what it would be like for you to take a fresh new outlook on this situation. I wonder how quickly you'll begin to hear these patterns emerge spontaneously in your language.
  131. 9C - I wonder if you've already started to notice _____.
  132. I wonder if you've already started to notice a feeling of relaxation somewhere in your body? It's not a matter of if it's happening, just a matter of whether you've already started to notice it or note. I wonder if you've already started to notice how much fun you can have learning these patterns.
  133. TC - I wouldn't tell you to _____ because _____.
  134. I wouldn't tell you to, so you don't need to resist against it. And just to make sure, I'll give you a reason (people love reasons). I wouldn't tell you to enjoy the process of going into trance because it goes without saying that you will. I wouldn't tell you to relax the muscles in your arms and legs because it's up to you how you prepare to go into trance. I wouldn't tell you to practice these patterns repeatedly because you can choose for yourself how to best integrate them.
  135. JC - I'm curious to know _____.
  136. I'm not asking you. I'm just saying that I'm curious. I'm curious to know how deeply you'll go into trance. I'm curious to know which resources you'll find to deal with this. I'm curious to know just how many ways you'll find to apply these language patterns.
  137. QC - I'm wondering if _____.
  138. I'm not telling you to do anything, I'm just wondering if your eyelids are getting heavy. I'm wondering if you're starting to look forward to making those changes easily. I'm wondering if these patterns will become integrated immediately. I don't really know. I'm just wondering.
  139. KC - I don't know whether _____.
  140. I don't know, but you'll know once you've considered the possibilities. I don't know whether you'll start exercising today. I don't know whether you can feel a tingling sensation in your fingers. I don't know whether you've decided just how deeply you're going to embed these patterns in your language.
  141.
  142. Diamonds
  143. AD - What happens when you ____?
  144. I'm only asking. But to find out what happens, you have to do it. What happens when you imagine yourself enjoying all the benefits of having made this change? What happens when you imagine being able to use these patterns effortlessly?
  145. 2D - When you _____ then _____.
  146. Of course you have to do the thing suggested in the first part to get what comes after. When you allow your unconscious to generate creative solutions to this problem, then you'll begin to see the results you desire. When you begin to relax the muscles in your arms and legs, then you'll start to deepen your trance. When you practice these patterns on a regular basis, then you'll enjoy a real sense of accomplishment.
  147. 3D - When you really begin to _____ then _____.
  148. When you do 'a', then you can have 'b'. It's so compelling that it doesn't even need to be based in fact. When you really begin to get in touch with your own needs then you'll start to allow the necessary changes to take place in your life. When you really begin to accept yourself at a deep level then you'll free yourself to change whatever you wish. When you really begin to make these patterns an automatic part of your behaviour then you'll become more influential then you ever thought possible.
  149. 4D - Will you _____ or _____ or _____?
  150. So many choices, which one to choose? Either way, the bases are all covered. Will you go into a trance right way, or will you go into a trance later, or will you just sit there comfortably as you notice yourself begin to relax?
  151. 5D - You can _____, can you not?
  152. When you add "can you not" to the end of a sentence, you can agree with it more easily, can you not? You can feel parts of your body beginning to relax, can you not? You can remember certain pleasant experiences, can you not? You can imagine using these patterns in many future situations, can you not?
  153. 6D - Your conscious mind _____, but your unconscious _____.
  154. It's good to explain the difference between the conscious mind and your unconscious. And your unconscious is such a lovely ambiguity. Your conscious mind can pay attention to a few things, but your unconscious can pay attention to everything. Your conscious mind is listening to my words, by your unconscious is listening to how I am saying them. Your conscious mind is trying to make sense of these patterns, buy your unconscious now is already integrating them at a deep level.
  155. 7D - You may _____.
  156. I'm not saying you will, just that you may. You may notice some changes in the focus of your eyes as you listen to me. You may start to feel the weight of your eyelids. You may learn these patterns in many different ways.
  157. 8D - You may already have started to become aware of _____.
  158. You may already have started, or you may be about to, and having started, it's presumed you will continue. You may already have started to become aware of certain changed in your moment-to-moment perception. You may already have started to become aware of the slowing and deepening of your breathing. You may already have started to become aware of the increasing of your skills in these patterning’s.
  159. 9D - You may already have started to notice the changes in _____ as you _____.
  160. When I say that you may have started to notice something, you check to find out if you have or not. And while you're checking, it's so tempting to just accept what follows as the "as you". You may already have started to notice the changes in your physical sensations as you allow yourself to relax into a trance. You may already have started to notice the changes in your depth of trance as you focus on the feeling of going deeper.
  161. TD - You may be aware of _____ as you _____.
  162. It's happening – it's just a matter of whether or not you're aware of it. Of course, if you really want to find out, you need to do what follows the "as you". You may be aware of the sound of my voice as you slip into a trance. You may be aware of sensations in your body as you relax even more deeply. You may be aware of a sense of enjoyment as you continue practicing these patterns.
  163. JD - You may notice _____ as you _____.
  164. You may notice it, or you may not, but as you do whatever has been suggested, you'll probably be looking for it. You may notice a sense of anticipation as you start to relax. You may notice the sensation in your hands as you allow yourself to go inside. You may notice certain feelings as you become determined to learn these patterns thoroughly.
  165. QD - You might _____.
  166. You might do this or you might do that. I'm not telling you what to do, just what might transpire. You might start to find a new way of perceiving this situation. You might see a new direction opening up in front of you. You might find yourself repeating these patterns as you sleep and dream.
  167. KD - You might become aware of _____ when you _____.
  168. You might become aware of it, which presupposes it's already there, and all you have to do to find out, is the bit after the "when you". You might become aware of a deepening sense of trance when you focus your attention inside yourself. You might become aware of a new range of possibilities when you allow your unconscious to start generating solutions. You might become aware of an emerging sense of confidence as you practice these patterns repeatedly. It's just a possibility!
  169. Spades
  170. AS - <fact> and <fact> and <fact> and ____.
  171. If I state three things that are true, a person is likely to accept the fourth as true. You're sitting here, and you're listening to me, and you're breathing in and out (time this), and you're starting to relax. You're playing this game, and you're reading this card, and you're looking at the words, and you're continuing to learn. You can also use words like "as" and "while", or eve just a comma, to link the phrases together. You're here today, with a purpose in mind, looking at me as you begin to become curious about what you're going to learn.
  172. 2S - ...said "_____".
  173. I'm just reporting what they said, so there's nothing for your conscious mind to resists. My friend Joe said to me, "Enjoy all the moments of your life".
