However, as soon as the guards moved to free Nanami, who seemed broken and silent on the throne, she immediately struck out, screaming, releasing her power and destroying the Guards - these being Thaumaturges however, it'd mean little, and even managed to overpower Luna in the immediate conflict, who Nanami struck over and over, beating her down relentlessly - though Luna didn't try to fight back. Nanami couldn't defeat the powerful Thaumaturge however, and when she seemed worn out and just began to sob, asking Luna why she did it over and over, Luna just smiled with tears in her eyes and said that she knows that Nanami now has the strength to save her world. Nanami continued to run amok through the Tower, slaughtering Thaumaturge after Thaumaturge, but soon after was overwhelmed when Soleil, Luna's older sister arrived, and effortlessly began beating the powerful Sea Witch. Nanami could only think to find some way to run back to her world, and unlocked the ability to cross Shards using the sea that had been born into her. However, doing so drained her, and now that she no longer had any Thaumaturges to take revenge on, she returned to being a blind girl consumed with grief and pain, desperately walking towards her village in the cold night, black water dripping from her body, her corpse-like visage making her seem like a ghoul. She could hardly know what to do with the power that had been created within her, let alone how to control it, and just wanted to go back home and rest. However, as she was walking through the woods blind, she heard the voices of her friends, who all came to gather around her... but her excitement caused her to instinctually release her powers, which surged from her body, ripping her friends into pieces. It was only when the silence dawned on her that she realized what she had done, and started calling out to any of them for help, before collapsing to the ground and begging that she didn't mean to do it over and over. She just wanted to save her world. She just wanted to help her friends. She just wanted to explore the beautiful home she was so lucky to be born in. Her boyfriend arrived to see her sobbing, transformed into some sort of monster, in front of the gory corpses of her friends, and full of horror and guilt, her took out his sword and tried to kill her... only for it to snap in half the second it hit her neck. She looked up at him and realized what he did, what he did in the sight of her sobbing and begging for help, that he tried to kill her... after seven months! He quickly tried to explain, but hatred had already began to well in Nanami's heart, and she effortlessly decapitated him with a tendril before he could even finish his sentence.

In those woods, surrounded by death and the stench of her fallen friends, she began to ponder her life up to this point, and her love of the sea... While it gave her so much happiness, by now it felt like all it ever did was hurt her and lead her to tragedy after tragedy. Curses rose from the girl as she gained more and more clarity through these thoughts, and eventually came to conclude that while she loved the sea, it never loved her. She hated the sea... and just as she came to accept that, it seemed she began to realize more and more of her powers, as true hate blossomed within her - golden irises even appeared on her blackened eyes as her limbs became covered in black markings and stains. With a will she resurrected her friends - except her boyfriend - from the dead, and suffused them with the essence that had developed within her, altering their personalities. She then proclaimed she would finally do what she was born to do - and unite the 7 seas. With a will, she unleashed her bleakness, and it soon consumed the entire shard. Thousands from all sides tried to stop her, but it meant nothing. Soon they were all corrupted and consumed by the Black Sea, and the Forbidden sea was devoured and rendered away into nothing. Not long after, Luna arrived at the Shard, to apologize to Nanami, only for when Nanami came before her, she instead thanked Luna, saying that what she did was the best thing to ever happen to her, and helped her realize how little this sad little world cared. Luna didn't know how to take it, and for a moment she felt all-consuming guilt... before her own demons instead lead her to find happiness in this moment, and the two girls embraced each other, both sharing their first kiss. With help from Luna, Nanami found her way to her world's Heart, and thus suffused it with the Black Sea as well... corrupting the very fabric of the Shard. Nanami swore that the Black Sea would always serve the Tower, because it wouldn't exist without Luna's charity, and officially entered a relationship with Luna - both rulers of Shards, horribly transformed.
