  106. =================
  107. 01. Introduction
  108. =================
  109. Welcome!
  110. Here’s a quick and simple explanation for what voice works are before you read through the guide.  Voice works are doujin creations that emphasize audio over visuals.  Most of them have some sort of story for the listener to immerse into, and in recent years, works have utilized binaural audio recordings to give it a 3-D feel.  One of the good things about voice works is that it’s easy to create, meaning there’s a higher chance that there’s a work that caters to your niche fetishes.  Try listening to some voice works out and see what you think.
  111.
  112. Please take the time to read everything here carefully so you don’t ask questions that have already been answered many times before in the past.  Make sure to check back every so often as this guide will be updated with new information which may prove helpful to you.
  113.
  114. And don’t forget to buy the works to support the creators!
  115.
  116. ======================
  117. 02. Voice Work Basics
  118. ======================
  119. You will most likely find people mentioning the words “RJ code,” and posting links to DLsite.  That is because the majority of official voice works are sold on DLsite, and RJ codes are DLsite’s form of product codes.
  120. Every DLsite work has an RJ code, and it is always located at the end of the work page’s link.
  121.
  122. The Japanese DLsite format looks like this: RJ######
  123. It starts with RJ, and is followed by 6 numbers.
  124.
  125. DLsite also has an English and Taiwanese branch, and they follow a similar format.  The only difference is that “RJ” is replaced with “RE” for English, and “RT” for Taiwanese.
  126. We use “RJ” because the Japanese site (main site) has the most selection of voice works.  Do note that not all works on the Japanese site are available on the other branch sites (and vice versa).
  127.
  128. ===========================================
  129. 03. Finding Voice Works (Official/Product)
  130. ===========================================
  131. This section will help teach you how to find official voice works.  As always, remember to support the creators by buying their works!

  151. --------------------------------------------
  152. 03b. Sharing Sites (Use Google, Bing, etc.)
  153. --------------------------------------------
  154. You can find works from sharing sites like the ones listed below.
  155.
  156. http://www.anime-sharing.com/forum/voice-works-129/
  157. http://hentai4daily.com/category/ht-audio-works-%E9%9F%B3%E5%A3%B0%E4%BD%9C%E5%93%81/
  158. https://www.vivahentai4u.net
  159. http://dou.erokuni.net/category/audio/
  160.
  161. Beware of fake sharing sites such as those that require you to register for a premium account to download.
  162.
  163. -------------------------
  164. 03c. Baidu Cloud Service
  165. -------------------------
  166. Voice works can often be found in private folders that require a special link & password for access.
  167. If you find password protected works, try “bdtrysb” without the quotes.  It's regarded as the universal voice work password there.
  168.
  169. Example Folder:
  170. LINK - https://pan.baidu.com/s/1eRksyuY
  171. PW - a2zu
  172.
  173. Downloading requires users to log in, and files larger than 50 MB require users to use their program.  To bypass this, you can use https://www.baiduwp.com – link in first field, password in second field.  This should generate direct download links to the files.
  174.
  175. If your download speed is slow (~100kbps), you can try and use a user-agent spoofer plugin before generating the download links.
  176.
  177. ------------------------------------------------
  178. 03d. SFTP Server (http://voice.station.moe/faq)
  179. ------------------------------------------------
  180. THE SFTP SERVER OWNER CURRENTLY HAS NO FUNDS TO CONTINUE RUNNING IT.  THIS SECTION WILL BE UPDATED WHEN IT IS BACK UP.
  181. IN THE MEAN TIME, USE THIS TORRENT TO ACCESS THE FILES THAT WERE ON IT: https://mega.nz/#!I0BwiQwS!ZcfBCrShnDMjs6-7rt5mh4swgrqZNN_Jd3thZbaWZL4
  182.
  183. This is a storage server for everyone to upload and download voice works.  It may contain voice works that are not uploaded or have been taken down, so make sure to take a look at it! Please check the FAQ link provided above for more details.
  184. As this section’s title implies, accessing this server requires an SFTP client (FileZilla, WinSCP, etc.), and downloading should be as simple as following the instructions provided by the link above.  In regards to uploading voice works to the server, please join /h/voicethread’s Discord server and ask around to request for more information.
  185. Additionally, you can use “http://voice.station.moe” to search the server and see if the work you are looking for has been uploaded.
  186.
  187. --------------------------------------
  188. 03e. IRC Kasumi Bot (xdcc.kasumi.moe)
  189. --------------------------------------
  190. 1. Download and install an IRC client
  191. 2. Connect to Rizon (an IRC network)
  192. 3. Click on a file you want on the packlisting
  193. 4. Follow on-screen instructions
  194.
  195. If you have any problems, try looking up how to configure your IRC client for accepting DCC transfers.

  331. 06. FAQ
  332. ========
  333.     - Why don’t you call it JASMR?
  334. There are various reasons for this, I will list two of them.  First, ASMR is subjective, so it wouldn’t be valid to generalize it as something that everyone will experience.  Second, and this is the more important reason, these works originated from Japan, and they’re not called that.  If you insist on calling them something other than “voice works” (which is the most common referral: 音声作品) you could consider “drama CDs,” “radio drama,” etc.  Just.  Don’t.  Use.  JASMR.
  335.
  336.     - As a newcomer asking, how do you all use voice works?
  337. There are a lot of ways to enjoy voice works, with the most obvious and probably most used purpose being for the sexy content.  However, people also listen to voice works for reasons such as relaxation, story/storytelling, hypnosis, and so on.  There’s many ways to “use” voice works, and no such thing as a wrong way (unless you call it JASMR).  Look around and find what clicks for you.
  338.
  339.     - Do I need to understand Japanese to be able to enjoy voice works?
  340. Of course not.  There are works that don’t involve any talking at all, or works with English (and/or Chinese) subtitles.  Aside from that, if you have some general Japanese knowledge, you should be able to enjoy 80% of voice works.  The remaining 20% will probably contain some unfamiliar phrases which you may need to look up to understand.  Refer to the “Further Reading” section for some Japanese guides.

  342.     - How do people organize or sort their voice work folders?
  343. Everyone has their own way of organizing their voice works depending on their preferences.  Some rename work folders based on genres they enjoy, some sort by circles or whether the work is all-ages, R15, or R18+.  Personally, I name each work by “RJ Code [Circle] Title” and put them all in the same folder.
  344. You can also use DLSite Game Manager, as some helpful users have modified it to work specifically for voice works.  Take a look at it here: https://ulmf.org/threads/dlsite-game-manager-0-3-3.6298/page-7#post-685603

  346.     - Why is the text inside RJ###### all corrupted text?
  347. This is because the folder was compressed in another language.  If you then extract it, you get mojibake.  There’s a quite a few ways you can fix this.
  348. 1. Change your locale to Japanese.  By doing this, you’re guaranteed to have no problems with any future content that is in Japanese.  However, this doesn’t necessarily help if the content was tampered and renamed to another language (e.g. Chinese, Korean).
  349. 2. Use an extractor that lets you manage the language extraction.  7Zip doesn’t offer this feature at the moment, so you’re going to have to find a different program.  One such extractor is Bandizip.
  350. 3. For already extracted folders, you can try using an anon’s mojibake fix java app.  Here’s the link to it - https://mega.nz/#!i4BG1KQY!rktsacex1HwWFmkZxWmjtmMqe3ldMPgjKPNZckUmx5s
  351. 4. If you want to fix the file names & tags, you can use Mp3tag or the Chacon plugin for foobar2000
