  1. - Name: Joseph Royce
  2. - Year of Birth: 125 AC
  3. - Culture: Valeman
  4. - Religion: Faith of the Seven
  5. - Gender: Male
  6. - Eye Colour: Black
  7. - Hair Colour: Brown
  8. - Height: 5'5
  9. - Skills: Joseph is a great sword-fighter and rider, and a competent if aggressive Lord. In combat, he uses his short stature and light yet muscular build to give him unprecedented speed and agility, using two swords to cut through his foes with lightning speed. He is used to going up against opponents bigger and stronger than him, men who wouldn't hesitate to crush him. Joseph goes into a blank state when in combat, most thought processes replaced with killing intent and fighting. The only thing that stops him from always killing his opponents, even in a simple melee, is his will, mentally pulling himself back from the call of the void.
  10. - Fears: Though he cares little about himself, he is afraid that one day, he will lose control and result in the death of someone he cares about.
  11. - Personality: Joseph Royce is not a very approachable Lord. He rarely shows emotion, giving a cold impression to others. His manner of speaking tends to be very blunt, even insulting, and his comments are often coarse or inappropriate. He is not above provoking or belittling those who oppose or irritate him, and his sense of humor tends toward the vulgar, insulting, and dark. Combined, these traits make him seem somewhat unsettling to most people. Royce's obedience is strictly limited to individuals he respects, and he has no problem showing open disdain for authority from anyone outside of that, including Royal family members. He has great care for the men under his command, hating any casualties he deems unneccesary. Despite this, he has a sadistic streak towards any who oppose him, happily slaughtering them.
  12.
  13. Joseph Royce is an arrogant sword fighter, looking down on people with sub par fighting ability and missing no occasion to ridicule them and antagonize them in general. However, he is himself an honourable man, taking his vows as a Knight seriously for the most part. Having great determination, Joseph can keep on fighting despite being fatally wounded and holds a higher degree of spirit and soul than most men, his courage and determination driving him. Joseph is nonetheless a verious serious person most of the time, zealously fighting any enemies of the Vale.

  30. - Character Biography (Short Summary): Joseph Royce was born in Runestone 23 years ago. He was raised by strict parents, with a father who drilled into him the tenets of combat from a young age. He was to uphold the Royce name, to fight with honour and bring respect to the House. He was a warrior and Lord from birth, whether he wished it or not.

  32. He quickly learned that his small stature put him at a disadvantage against bigger opponents (which was most everybody). He learned to fight dirty, to use speed and tricks to best his foes. Though this was looked down upon by his father, he didn't particularly care. He didn't like using a shield, as it slowed him down, preferring to keep his hand free. By the age of 16, he was capable of beating every man in the castle of Runestone in single combat, and started fighting multiple men at once to help simulate a real battle. He found that, without a shield, he couldn't block effectively, but with it, he was too slow. Compromising, he took up another sword, and from that day on used two longswords at once.
  33.
  34. He continued to fight, and train, and fight and train. He was put in charge of the Royce patrol groups, being granted men under his command to combat the Mountain Clans and bandits in the Vale, putting his tested skills to the test in real, life-or-death combat. Pushing his men to victory, made a name for himself in the Vale, not that he particularly sought to do so. Ruthless in application, thoroughly without mercy in exection.
  35.
  36. His parents were involved in a shipwreck near the coast of Essos, along with his brother, Justin. It took quite some convincing from his steward to fully assume the position of Lord - he believed that while he probably COULD do it, that it could be done better by others. Finally, his steward warned him that House Grafton would take over Gulltown if he did not assume the seat, and he gave in. He has reigned as Lord for two years now, and looks to serve Lord Arryn faithfully in the wars to come.
