  1. Fam,
  2.
  3. You may not be aware but the LeeU IT Operations Department has a band. We call ourselves “RUN CMD & the 404’s” and we are dropping our first album just in time for the Centennial Homecoming. As these songs came to us and we wrote them down – we started noticing a theme, or a message. It was clear to us early on that something special was happening. Something we couldn’t keep to ourselves. So celebrate with us as we release our first album with the following tracks:
  4.
  5. 1. Come now, Holy Spirit of Discernment
  6. 2. Phishers of Men
  7. 3. Sift. You. As. Wheat.
  8. 4. Don’t be clickin’
  9. 5. Jesus take the keyboard
  10. 6. Oh Lord, Ignite these Flames

  12. Ok, we don’t really have a band (yet) but we do have a message for you. We are aware that students are getting more and more of these “personal assistant job” emails sent to them. These are not legitimate job offers and these people are just trying to ‘hack’ you. The goal for them is to get your back account and personal information. If someone is wanting to pay you $75/hour to do “General Work” for an “Artist” who also buys “antics” and they’ve never met you in person… I think it’s pretty good indication that something is phishy. If you are looking for a job, the Student Employment Office would be happy to help you find real employment on campus (but you won’t be making $75/hour).

  14. Other scams that have been trending on both the student and staff side are the emails pretending to be from Dr. Conn or other staff/administrators here at Lee asking for favors. It’s usually a request to buy iTunes gift cards. Again, if a staff member or administrator is wanting you to buy them gift cards… tell an adult. When you are looking at emails on your phone it hides the actual email address and just shows the senders name – this is easily modified. Wait to respond to these until you get in front of a computer and can see the actual email addresses. If these emails aren’t from an @leeuniversity.edu account they are not from us – just delete them.
  15.
  16. Phishers of Men are not limited to these two attacks and will come at you with new lures from time to time. It might an “Important Notification from University Finance” or “Verify your Account” or “iTunes purchase verification”. Please feel free to email me or the Help Desk if you have questions or concerns about a particular email. I’d be happy to help you decide if it is trying to sift you as wheat or if its legit.

  18. Thanks,
  19. Chris Golden
