  7. *Intro
  8.
  9. Bitcoin (BTC) is a digital currency (also called crypto-currency) that is not backed by any country's central bank or government (making it decentralized). Bitcoin-to-Bitcoin transactions are made by digitally exchanging anonymous, heavily encrypted hash codes across a peer-to-peer (P2P) network. The P2P network monitors and verifies the transfer of Bitcoins between users. Each user's Bitcoins are stored in a program called a digital wallet, which also holds each address the user sends and receives Bitcoins from, as well as a private key known only to the user.
  10. The Bitcoin network is designed to mathematically generate no more than 21 million Bitcoins and the network is set up to regulate itself to deal with inflation. Bitcoins can be spent by initiating a transfer request from a Bitcoin address in the customer's wallet to a Bitcoin address in the vendor's wallet. For future reference 1 Satoshi = .00000001 BTC (one hundred millionth of a bitcoin).

  12. Always check http://www.badbitcoin.org/thebadlist/ before investing any serious time and or money into a site.
  13.
  14. *Wallets
  15.
  16. The first step of earning Bitcoin is choosing a wallet to use. Wallets are your access to give and receive Bitcoins online. Currently there are three primary services for BTC wallets:
  17.
  18. ~Blockchain (https://blockchain.info/wallet)
  19. -Good for: simplicity
  20. ~Coinbase (https://www.coinbase.com/)
  21. -Good for: exchange rates between traditional currency and BTC, however you cannot request private keys from Coinbase, so you have very little day in security, requires a bank account
  22. ~Xapo (https://xapo.com/)
  23. -Good for: security, comes at the cost of having to supply a large amount of personal information
  24.
  25. *Acquiring BTC
  26.
  27. There are four primary ways of acquiring Bitcoins. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages depending on the time or financial resources you wish to invest.
  28.
  29. ~Tasks: Such as surveys or other such things, PrizeRebel is the fastest way to earn starter BTC without spending money (PrizeRebel, http://cur.lv/vqm3a)
  30.
  31. ~Trading: There are many sites in which you can sell things for BTC, I recommend https://bitify.com/.
  32.
  33. ~Mining: Nowadays PC mining does not reward much due to the competitive level BTC mining has risen to, I do not have experiance with this form of earning BTC, however CoinDesk does a fantastic job: http://www.coindesk.com/information/how-bitcoin-mining-works/
  34. --Original Bitcoin Mining Software (https://bitcoin.org/en/download)
  35. --Software Alternatives (http://www.bitcoinx.com/bitcoin-mining-software/)

  38.
  39. ~Investments: The best way to expand your BTC, better explained in *Investments
  40.
