Runes -- Intro

Good afternoon, students. Welcome to the study of Ancient Runes. For those of you that are unaware, runes are the letters in a set of related alphabets known as runic alphabets, which were used to write various Germanic languages before the adoption of the Latin alphabet and for specialised purposes thereafter. The Scandinavian variants are also known as futhark or fuþark.
Runology is the study of the runic alphabets, runic inscriptions, runestones, and their history. For muggles, Runology forms a specialized branch of Germanic linguistics.
In the Wizarding world specifically, Ancient runes are a form of writing which witches and wizards used hundreds of years ago. Ancient Runes is a mostly theoretical subject that studies the ancient runic scripts of magic.
There are 10 runes that we will study in this course, the numbers 0-10. Each of the runes is represented by an animal as follows:
0 - Demiguise
1 - Unicorn
2 - Graphorn
3 - Runespoor
4 - Fwooper
5 - Quintaped
6 - Salamander
7 - Unknown
8 - Acromantula
9 - Hydra
