PERSONALITY: On stage, this boy is seen as filthy dirty. The tongue, the hands, the body rolls – everything. But as soon as he’s off-stage, he’s one of the shyest, sweetest and most respective boys you’ll ever meet. Ask him to do something sexy on a V-App, he’ll go bright red and be embarrassed for twenty minutes before, and be all shy until the V-App ends. He’s the type to do incredibly sexual things on stage, and immediately do aegyo or something similarly adorable afterwards. He’s not always shy, if he’s with people he’s comfortable with, but is more likely to stay with his group members, unless he’s forced into socialisation with others. He’s often only known for being the “sexy one”, which often doesn’t bother him, but will definitely get flustered if a fan tells him he’s attractive. It’s not that he has low self-esteem, but he doesn’t know how to accept a compliment.
Beyond what the fans see, he can be described as a little bit two-faced. Yes, everyone who knows him will agree that he’s hardworking, loyal and loving. But those who know him closely, know that he’s willing to do anything to get where he wants to. Other than his closest friends, he’s willing to tear down, and manipulate people so that his loved ones can get what they want. For example, if they’re against a sunbae group, he would never openly say something against them. But if they’re against a group he isn’t close with, he will do as much as he can subtly to ensure that his group wins.
Most of the time, he doesn’t recognise what he does as being malicious, as the actions are being done with the thought of his group being happy. He’s extremely compassionate and treats those he cares about with so much love and adoration, including his family, group members and fans.
If asked why he was okay with being known as the “sexy one”, he wouldn’t know how to answer. He does miss people recognising his singing talent, but is just happy to be remembered.
Outside of his group life, he’s just a hardworking boy who wants to please his family. He loves what he does, and wouldn’t want to change it for anyone.
He’s quite good at keeping his cool under pressure, and is good at keeping his emotions under control. He tends to be the person who’s one of the proudest of the other members, as he’s one of the eldest. He’s know sometimes as his group’s own biggest fan because of how supportive he is.

BACKGROUND:
Joonil was born as the middle child of a busy household. His father, an established accountant, believed strongly that the men of the household were superior, and should be spending their time studying to take on the family business. Although neither Joonil nor his older brother, Joonkyung, agreed with this, Joonkyung was clearly the one who was going to please his father more. Joonkyung was quickly acknowledged as a child genius, whereas Joonil was dismissed as a silly dreamer. The two brothers didn’t fight, but they were rarely allowed to see each other, as Joonkyung was busy being pushed from a young age to prepare for the family business.
On the other side of things, Joonil was raised closely with his younger sister, and eccentric mother. His mother was the outcast of her family, being married off as quickly as possible. She loved children, and was loved back. She was a lot more open-minded than her husband, and encouraged her children to pursue their dreams, and not listen to society. This lead Joonil to look more into forms of art, his favourite being music. He quickly fell in love with groups such as Shinhwa, g.o.d and s.e.s, and eventually his (first love) inspiration, BoA. He began to take singing lessons, in private, after discovering he had a talent for covering his idol’s songs.
He worked relatively hard at school, but his thoughts were always occupied by the thought of becoming a singer. His younger sister, Mina, was incredibly supportive of his dream, and when they were both young, she would pretend to be his fan and take pictures of him, which sparked her love of photography.
However, all good things must come to an end, and all secrets must be told. Joonil’s father eventually found out about his singing, and his dream, and he was not happy. It caused a huge row in the family, that almost lead them to split apart. Eventually, Joonil’s father agreed to let him continue his singing studies, as long as he didn’t mention that he, Jookyung and Joonil were related. Reluctantly, Joonil agreed, and was eventually casted into Stardom when he was 17. He was given a chance to debut in Topp Dogg, but had a very bad injury that restrained his mobility for almost a year. However, he remains good friends with the Topp Dogg members.
