Hello. I'm Yui Hirasawa.
Two months ago, I was in an accident..
I was walking home from school with my friends, talking about the day.
Wnd when we departed, I decided to take a shortcut.
That decision changed my life forever.
I was walking on the sidewalk over the bridge, which was covered with ice.
Struggling to carry both Gitah and my bag, I slipped and fell over the edge.
I remember it so well, the pavement, the impact, the truck..
It all went so fast, like in the blink of an eye.
There I was, lying in the middle of the busy road.
I had broken my legs in the fall and was trying to crawl away form the road, but it was too late.
A speeding truck, who's driver apparently was drunk, hit me and I flew through the air.
Everything went black.
I could hear voices, distant voices.
"Somebody call an ambulance!"
"She's breathing"
"YUI!"
…
I woke up at the hospital a month later.
"Where am I?"
"At the hospital, do you remember?"
Ritsu was sitting next to me, with her hand on my head.
"Ricchan.." My mouth was dry.
"Ricchan, what a-.."
I suddenly realized, something was missing.
I couldn't feel my arms, nor could I move them.
Actually, I couldn't couldn't move anything from my neck and down.
"MY ARMS!? WHA-WHA-WHA-WHAT HAPPENED!?"
"You.. you got hit by a truck.. The doctors couldn't save your arms.. Yui, I'm.. I'm so sorry.."
Ricchan lowered her head and grabbed her skirt tightly with her hands.
As I saw the tears running down Ricchan's cheek, I suddenly realized that this was real. I wasn't dreaming.
That horrible dream, it was reality.
It did happen, I got hit by a truck. I don't have any arms anymore..
I cried. Screamed out in despair, trying to move. Trying to, somehow, get my feeling and arms back.
But it was useless, of course..
I cried the whole day until I eventually fell asleep.
When I woke up, Mio and Mugi stood by my side.
"How are you doing? Can you move your body..?"
Mugi's eyes were swollen and her face was red. She had been crying.
"Y-yes.. I think so"
My feeling slowly came back in my feet. It hurt.
"Mio!" I couldn't hold back the tears as the pulsing pain spread through my body.
"Y-Yui!" Mio hugged me, tightly. "We will take care of you, everything will be alöright.."
My friends were with me. That feeling.. Although my whole body ached, although I didn't have my arms anymore.. I was.. happy?
My friends cared about me, and it filled my heart with such warmth, that only the sun could match.
"Ui.. Where is Ui?"
I looked around. She wasn't there.
"She's still out of the country.. She will be home by tomorrow. She doesn't know."
When Ritsu said that she would be home the next day, I felt happy.. But those last three words..
"She doesn't know."
She doesn't know.. She doesn't know that her sister, the only one in the whole world that meant so much for her, is crippled. That she doesn't have her arms anymore, that she is scarred for life. And that she never will be the same again.
Too think about what her reaction would be too see her big sitter like this.. my heart was in pain.
"What about Azunyan?"
"She doesn't know either. She's still with her parents in Hawaii."
"I see.."
"Yui, we can tell her if you want.."
Mio dried a tear of my chin with a napkin.
"No.. I don't want her to feel the same pain as you guys do.. It would break her heart."
"Ui then?"
"She must know.. She's my sitter afterall.."
With these words, I fell asleep and, once again, dreamed about the accident.

In the morning, I woke up to footsteps outside in the corridor.
"I recognize those footste-"
The door opened.
"Sis, how are you? I brought some souve-"
Ui's expression changed from smiling to no expression the very second she saw her sister. Lying in a hospital bed, without arms.
"Ui.."
"Yu-yu-yu.."
Ui dropped her bag and ran towards me screaming.
"SIS!!"
She hugged me tight as she was crying her eyes out.
And so, she spent the whole day and the whole night by my side, crying and telling me that "Everyting will be allright. We will get through this together."
I knew that she was breaking apart inside.
I knew that her heart couldn't bear with her sister being crippled for the rest of her life.
She would eventually break..
As I was comforting her and told her that I was fine, she reminded me about gitah
"It's allright, I had a great time with him" I smiled.
"I think it's time to step back from the music. Forever"
"But.. You love playing music. You love playing the guitar.. I-"
I leaned forward and put my head on her shoulder.
"It's allright Ui."

After 4 months of rehabilitation, the doctor said that I could go home.
What a sight, me, Yui Hirasawa, wearing a shirt with the arms tied up.
I looked like a doll that got her arms teared off by a little kid.
But I was actually feeling good.
I was happy. Because I knew that my friends would take care of me, they always had.
But then my mind was concentrated on Azusa.
Azusa, who came home from her semester today..
What should I do? I couldn't let her see me like this.
She would break apart.. Seeing her sempai like this.
"Yui, are you ready to go?" Ricchan clinged on me and smiled
"Yes! Let's go!"
I couldn't let this accident stop me from living my life.
I decided that from now on, I'd be just as happy as I was before the accident.
After all, who needs arms?

"Sempaaai!"
That voice, it was Azusa.
I was about to turn around and greet her, but then I stopped and turned my back on her.
Azusa ran into my back.
She tried to hug me but I avoided her.. I couldn't let her know.
"Why? Why don't you want to see me..?"
I couldn't answer.
"Please! Tell me.."
She reached for my nonexisting arms that was hidden under my coat.
"NO!" I screamed and pushed Azusa with my body so she fell to the ground.
"Why!? Why are you doing this to me!"
Her eyes started to getwatery.
"All this time you've used me as a toy. Do you think that made me happy? But I grew custom to it.. It became a part of me. YOU became a part of me.. Do you think i'm happy now!? When you ignore me.. I can't live without your hugs Yui. I just want a hug.."
"Azunyan, I.."
".. I heard you was in an accident."
She stood up.
Her voice became cold. As if she was talking to a person that had just burned her house down.
"Azuny-"
"That's enough!"
She pushed me away from her.
"I don't care anymore."
As she walked away, the words kept echoing in my head.
"I don't care anymore."
My body felt cold and I started to loose grip of reality.
"Azunya-"
I fainted.
When I woke up, I was lying on the couch in my home.
It had been a whole year since the last time I had been in my old home.. The smell, the furnitures. Everything was as I remembered it.
"Oh, you're awake. I made dinner!"
Rice and pork. It was just like the old days.
I started to remember.. The days when I used to practise guitar everyday.
I used to play, practise, eat cake and drink tea with my friends afterschool.. Afterschool Tea Time, that was our bands name.
My chest started to hurt.
"Do you want soy too?"
She smiled. But I could see in her eyes that she was crying inside
"No Ui, i'm fine."
"If you want something, just tell me. I'll do anything for you sis."
"I'm fine, don't worry about me."
As she turned away to go back to the kitchen, I could see that she was crying.
I didn't want her to feel sad just because I can't take care of myself anymore.. although I couldn't manage to do that even when I had my arms..
When Ui came back to take out the rest of the dishes, she saw me wiping of a tear with my right arm stump.
"Are you crying, sis?"
I couldn't let her see me cry, I had to be strong.
"No Ui.. I'm fine."
