  1. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”- Nelson Mandela Social problems are the general factors that affect and damage society, and education is one of the world most widely societal issues in the 21s century. One reason behind this is the fact that education is an essential pillar to the development of any country at all levels. Even so, education in Morocco suffers from several problems.
  2. In Morocco, education sector is not the primacy of the government when it comes to the financial support and human resources. As an example, public schools in Morocco suffer from the lack of care and financial aid. Most of the schools in rural areas lack the basics elements, such as adequate classrooms, laboratories, learning material, sport and activities areas. Not only this miserable situation, but also public school suffers from the lack of teachers in many Morocco’s regions. Thus, the overcrowding of students in the classrooms that hinder the teaching and learning process. In addition, it results in blocking pupils from developing some competencies related to communication, group working and giving presentations.
  3. Besides, some teachers are not well qualified in terms of the educational sciences, educational psychology, and educational sociology. Consequently, they mistakenly mistreat students sometimes or do not know how to cope with some grave situations. Furthermore, they employ poor inappropriate or ancient pedagogical methods that are not keeping pace with the times, and at the most of time students find themselves forced to learn by heart and working with undesirable materials. Consequently, school becomes a disagreeable and dolorous place for the majority of students; thereupon the learning process will be unfruitful as not expected. Moreover, these poor pedagogical methods value the good marks more than anything else. It is not surprising that the primary concern of the preponderance of students is to get good marks and to succeed at the end of the year, instead of concentrating on gaining knowledge or learning new strategies, skills and techniques that can ameliorate their competencies for the better.
  4. In the same way, the government do not equip public schools with the latest technological means, like laptops, tablets, data-show, and scientific material in the laboratories to conduct scientific experiences in parallel with the curriculum. Yet, technological means are enormously beneficial in the process of learning. Students can learn useful life skills through technology since modern learning is about collaborating with others, solving complex problems, critical thinking, developing different forms of communication and leadership skills, and improving motivation and productivity.
  5. At last and not least, every problem has a solution. In the case of Moroccan educational system, there are several effective solutions, but it requires the initiative and the commitment of policy makers to establish a modern reform. It requires young people with experiences abroad or the ones who benefited from training programs to execute in reality what they acquired. Starting with customizing grandiose budgets for public school and providing modern formations to teachers, to promoting innovative learning methods and curriculums mixed with sophisticated technological means. Another solution to consider is to tailor the educational system to the needs of every student, by establishing a flexible approach of learning that respects the competencies and the background of every single pupil.
  6. As far as I am concerned, I am committed to do whatever it takes to see the sector of education in my country in a pleasanter state. I am sure that if all the elements of society work hand in hand to put an end to these handicaps, we will reap good results and we will lead our country forward.
