- (Red/white text) After filming the ‘City Connection’ challenge. 10:50 P.M.
- A- What is it?
- T – I have some bad news.
- A – Y’ quittin’?
- T –That’s not it.
- A – Ehhhh?! I’m really sad to hear that. I see, our time together was so short though.
- T – We’d like you to challenge one more game.
- A – No way!? I think it’s late enough already!
- A – What game is it? Ugh! No way!
- T – It’s The Genji and the Heike Clans.
- A – If I remember, I played that one all day, got totally exhausted and thought it was impossible to clear it, and we finished there.
- I think I’m already totally exhausted today!
- T – We planned for ‘City Connection’ to be finished in two to three hours, but…
- A – What’re ya trying to tell me, saying that?! ‘City Connection’ was super hard!
- (Popup box)
- Challenged ‘City Connection’ and cleared it in 11 hours and 30 minutes.
- (Smaller text) For more details please watch Disc 15
- T - It really took a long time; we completely miscalculated the time when planning for today.
- A – Is that including the ‘Driving Drama’ section?
- A – If you include the ‘Driving Drama’ section, it probably took even more time!
- A – I looked just like this!
- (Popup box)
- Recording the drama section of the ‘City Connection’ challenge took one hour.
- (smaller text) For more details please watch disc 15.
- A – I was like ‘Is it okay to look out the window?’
- A – That’s how we did that segment!
- N – The hoped-for schedule has been shoved aside, so here there’s something that needs to be confirmed.
- T – Arino, after this you have a radio appearance, don’t you?
- A – Yeah, I do. It starts at 2:00 A.M. today.
- T – Well, we got lucky. Because of live baseball coverage, that show has been delayed by an hour, so
- please clear the game in about three hours.
- A – So, the guy who said I could clear ‘City Connection’ in three hours
- is also telling me to clear The Genji and the Heike Clans in three hours?
- N – This time, Arino will be playing from where he was forced to give up, Suruga, and clear the remaining four stages in three hours.
- T – By the way, Arino, do you remember how far you got before in The Genji and the Heike Clans?
- A – Not even a little! Wait, how far did I get?
- T – I’ll show you on the tapes so…
- A – Just hurry up and do it!
- T – Standby please!
- T – Also, please change the tapes at this time.
- A – You make those kinds of announcements now?
- N – They change the tapes and finish the setup. Watching the tape from last time, he reviews Suruga.
- (Screen text – Last time’s play)
- A – Whoa! Whoa, that guy’s rushing ahead so much! It’d be better if he went slower.
- A - Just go slower.
- A - Ah, there’s a perfect spot there, isn’t there?
- A – Ah, he tripped a bit there. Ahhh, that’s not good. That’s not good at all.
- A – That guy’s playing kinda sucks!
- T – You’re right….
- A – He goes and agrees with me!
- N – After confirming his own poor skills, Arino prepares to resume play. But before this, one more reminder.
- T – Since you failed last time, another failure this time would be unimaginable.
- A – Unimaginable, eh?
- N – Because this is a special feature, there’s no way we’ll allow another give up! We’re depending on you, Chief Arino!
- N – A revenge spanning two years, he aims to clear The Genji and the Heike Clans!
- (Screen - Suruga)
- N – He resumes from the place were he previously left off.
- A – Whoa! Whoawhoawhoawhoawhoa.
- A – This thing’s moving like crazy!
- N – The moving platforms move from left to right, so it’s difficult to time his landing.
- N – At this moment, Arino has an idea.
- A – It's moving like this (moves hands) not like this (moves hands), so if I aim for here, I should be okay

- (Blue text) – Arino’s prediction.
- (Red text) – If he lands in the middle of the moving platforms, he won’t fall.
- Right-side text – Goal
- N - If he lands in the middle of the moving platforms, he won’t fall.
- N – He immediately begins his plan…
- is what I wanted to say, but…
- A – Holdin’ the controller. . . it’s scary.
- A – Even though I know how to do it…
- N - If he falls, that’s all she wrote. It’s a tense, one-shot match.
- N – The result?
- Arino – Look! Look, look, look! Look, look, look!
- A – Look, I was right!
- A – I was right!
- N – Arino’s flash of inspiration receives a round of applause! If you land in the middle of the platforms, then you don’t fall off.
- N – However, this zone of repeated dangerous jumps continues.
- A – Ah! I’m rushin’ too much! I’m rushin’ too much!
- N – There’s a feeling of extreme tension in the room. Then, an unimaginable event occurs.
- A – How do I time thi--Ah! crapcrapcrap! Whoa! Whoawhoawhoawhoawhoa! What is that! Whoawhoawhoawhoa!
- A – That jerk wasn’t here two years ago!
- N – Two years ago, Arino was lucky enough not to meet his natural enemy, a bird, which makes an unthinkable appearance.
- A – Is that a bird? He’s got fat legs. It’s a bird with big, fat legs.
- N – Steeling himself, he unpauses the game.
- N – Splendidly done, Arino! However…
- N – …another bird descends upon him!
- A – I’m getting panicky!
- A – Aaaaaaahhhh! I’m falling into the Underworld! What’s the deal with those birds?!
- N – Arino’s bird allergy flares up again! As a result of getting too panicky, he fell. The End!
- A – I’m back here?!
- N - He lands in the Underworld. Additionally, his life is reduced, and reaching the ending from here is impossible.
- N – Once again, he chooses Awaji from the stage select screen and restarts.
- N – There’s no other way but to increase his life points and sword power, then once again head for Suruga.
- N – With little time, it’s an exacting job to return to where he was. And so…
- T - Arino?
- A – Yes?
- T – Would you come with me for a moment?
- A – G-go somewhere with you?
- T – Yes.
- A – Where are we going?
- N – AD Takahashi takes Arino from the challenge room. Their destination…
- T – Arino, over here.
- A – Okay. Oh, it’s a mini-segment room.
- N – They go to the small room next door.
- A – Ah, there’s one here, too!
- T – Yes, and this one is in top condition.
- N – The task of returning to Suruga takes thirty minutes.
- (Upper right text – Before the shoot)
- N - Thinking that this would be a severe time loss for Arino, who later has a radio appearance,
- a spare TurboGrafx-16, with the game advanced to Suruga, is on standby in the next room.
- N - Arino wants to show what he can do to thank Takahashi for this preparation.
- A – Isn’t this where the birds appeared?
- T – If you stay in one place too long, they come out.
- A – Is that so?
- N – If you stand in one place for too long without moving, birds will appear. Arino must move on without hesitation.
- A – Well? How about that? Aaaaaaaaaaaghhh!
- A – Even though I pushed right. . . Guess I shouldn’t have stopped.
- N – Takahashi’s suffering was for nothing. But then. . .
- T – I thought that this sort of thing might happen, so. . .
- right now, the return work is being done.
- N – The truth is, right now in the challenge room, a certain someone is advancing the game to Suruga.
- T – I’ll stay here and do the return work.
- A – You’re going to start over?
- T – Right.
- N- Takahashi will stay behind and do the return work.
- N – Meanwhile, the certain someone in the challenge room is. . .
- A – Ah, hello.
- E – Working hard today too, aren’t we?
- A – We sure are!
- (Text – Former AD Hiroyuki Emoto)
- N – Waiting was former AD Emoto, who has transferred to another industry.
- A – Long time no see, Emoto!
- E – It’s been awhile!
- A – Thanks for going to the bother of coming here! What’s this? Playin’ the game?
- E – That’s right. I heard that you were clearing The Genji and the Heike Clans today,
- and no matter what, I wanted to support you,
- so I came over.
- A – Thank you so much!
- N – Emoto was the AD who supported Arino when he challenged The Genji and the Heike Clans two years ago.
- Just like Arino, Emoto has frustrating memories about this game. When he heard that we were challenging it again,
- he wanted to be helpful, so he volunteered to do the return work.
- A – Is that a bathtub plug stuck in your pocket?
- E – I came by on my way home from work. This is actually a work tool.
- A – What is it?
- A – What is this? A whistle?
- A – Huh?
- E – It’s a magnifying glass.
- A – Oh, it goes like this.
- E – Right.
- A – Whaddaya do with this?
- (Text – Presently works at a store that deals with precious metals)
- E – You use it to look at things like stones and engravings.
- A – Izzat so?
- E – Yes.
- N – In the past, Emoto was known as an AD who could get the job done. Twenty-five minutes later, he safely gets to Suruga and entrusts the precious single life to Arino.
- It’s a tense, one-shot-only battle. Can Arino make it?
- A – Wah, this is so scary.
- A – Argh, even though I did it before! Back to the Underworld!
- A – I’m at the same skill level as before!
- E – Well then, I’ll begin the return work once again.
- A – You totally look like a business man now!
- A – Sorry…
- N – Emoto the business man once again begins the return work. Meanwhile, in the next room...
- A – Takahashi, how far have you gotten?
- T – Yes, um..
- A - Takahashi?
- T – I died…
- A – No way!
- N – It’s a fierce battle, so for the time being, Arino goes to Takahashi. When he gets there.
- A – Oh! Good evening!
- (Text - Former AP Tomoaki Nakayama)
- N – When he enters the room, he sees former AP Nakayama, who supported him during the The Genji and the Heike Clans challenge two years ago.
- NY – When I heard about this special DVD challenge, I rushed over to cheer you on.
- A – But Takahashi’s the one holding the controller!
- NY – I came to cheer you on…
- A – Is that so?
- Thanks so much, going to all the trouble of coming here.
- NY – Please do your best!
- A – You finished your cheering with just that?
- (Text over Emoto’s picture – Currently doing return work in the challenge room)
- N – With Nakayama in charge of cheering, the team of four aims to clear the game.
- A – Nakayama, you found a job yet?
- NY – Not yet.
- But I’m gradually getting better at going outside.
- A – What the hell?! I wanted to hear you say something like ‘Alright! I’m going to go out and find a job!’
- A – What kind of job are you looking for?
- NY – I still haven’t found a job that makes me think, ‘This is the one!’,
- I think that’s my biggest problem.
- A – Wouldn’t it be good to get a job at Famitsu? But to be honest, there’s probably tons of people who want to work there.
- NY – Making games into your job is really rough.
- A – Y’got that right!
- N – In the end, while receiving life advice from a man who’s still unemployed…
- T – Ah, I made it back to that spot.
- A – Y’made it?
- T – Yes.
- A – Thank you very much.
- Ahhh, we sure talked a lot.
- N – His radio appearance time closes in. Arino can’t fail again.
- N – This time for sure…
- A – This is scary…
- A – Right here…
- A – Alright! I did it!
- Thank you! Thank you!
- Oh, thanks I guess.
- N – Arino overcomes the pressure to finally, finally clear the highly difficult Suruga!
- (Text- Musashi)
- N – Three stages remain. The next stage is Musashi.
- N - He goes through the closest shrine gate to clear the stage.
- A – Diddit.
- N – Next is Sagami, in big mode.
- A – Whoawhoa, what’s that?
- N – He can see the way back, but Benkei suddenly appears. Arino crouches down and repeatedly attacks with his sword.
- N – He defeats Benkei. However…
- A – Something’s hittin’ me! Something’s hittin’ me!
- A – There’s something there!
- N – An iron ball is moving up and down in the shadow of the pillar.
- N – Not knowing where it is, he repeatedly takes damage.
- A – Huh? Ah! He got me. It was so hard to see! Ah, it’s over.
- A – This going back and forth is wearing me out!
- A – It's like, once I again I got this far just to have to wait!
- A – Emo, how’s it going?
- E – Arino, I made it!
- A – So, he made it. I don’t know what it is, but his tone of voice is just like a business man’s!
- N – Once again, Arino enters the main challenge room.
- When he does, the business man calmly asks him a question.
- E – Arino, are you okay time-wise for your radio appearance?
- A – What time is it now?
- Ehhhh? What am I gonna do?
- N – Only one more hour until the start of his radio appearance.
- A – If I was really gonna be serious about it, I’d want to go around this time!
- E – If you could treasure this one life…
- A – Woulda been happier not knowing the time,
- now there’s all this pressure.
- (Text - Suruga)
- N – Time-wise, this is his last chance. It’s a battle he can’t afford to lose. He restarts from Suruga.
- A – This spot here’s so scary…
- A – Oh noooooo!
- A – Back to the Underworld…
- A – Hmm, that’s right. Not even one minute passed!
- A – Takahashi, how’s it going?
- T – It’s going smoothly.
- A – Still not there yet, eh?
- A – I didn’t even last a minute!
- So it’s going smoothly…
- N – Even though there probably won’t be time to return to this room, just in case, the business man begins the return work.
- N – Twenty minutes later…
- T – Arino!
- A – What?
- T – I got there!
- A – Oh, is that so? I gotta go, someone’s calling me.
- A – This is gettin’ to be like a dinner party where you gotta keep switching tables!
- A – I’m comin’, I’m comin’!
- A – Here I am!
- NY – Sorry to have kept you waiting.
- A – Sorry for all of this.
- N – Before restarting, the unemployed man calmly warns Arino.
- NY – Arino.
- A – Yes?
- NY – There’s no more time!
- A – Right.
- N – His last chance has come.
- N – Will the challenge end in the worst possible way, with Arino unable to get his revenge?
- A – I made it! Ah, that part’s so scary!
- N – He then clears Musashi…
- and arrives at Sagami.
- A – This part’s scary too. . .
- N – Right ahead of him is the moving iron ball. He matches its timing, charges ahead, and defeats Benkei.
- A – You can’t go here, you can’t go here.
- N – Even after defeating Benkei, the troublesome iron ball zone continues.
- A – That’s not it…
- A – What is this?
- T – This part is a little tricky.
- T – When the big ball swings to the far left, go forward.
- N – Getting through this part requires you to charge forward when the pendulum-like ball goes all the way left. Additionally, you have to match the timing of the vertically moving ball.
- N – If he gets stuck, he’ll lose a big amount of life, and it’s all over. It’s a great challenge.
- N – Can he make it?
- T – Ah, ah! Ah, it’s okay.
- N – He makes it by a hair!
- N – After that, he carefully makes his way through the iron ball zone.
- A – Did I make it?
- A – There’s nothin’ here! What is this?
- A – This is scary.
- N – With nothing appearing, he finally reaches…
- A – Nothing came out, but it’s the goal!
- I did it!
- (Text - Kamakura)
- N – He finally makes it to the final stage, Kamakura. Awaiting Arino was…
- The last boss, Yoritomo
- N – An eighteen-hour battle spanning two years, using the combined powers of
- an AD, a business man, and an unemployed man, to reach the final boss.
- N – Whether he wins or loses, afterwards he has to go directly to his radio appearance.
- N – With an earnest hope to win in his heart, he begins the fateful last battle!
- A – Whoa, what’s going on? Somethin’s happening. Huh?
- A – What? I‘s O.K?
- NY – Thunk you very much.
- A – "Thunk" you very much?
- A – It’s the good ending?
- T – Yes, it’s the good ending.
- A – Ah, thank you so much.
- T – Congratulations.
- A – Thank you.
- (Upper left text) - The Genji and the Heike Clans – The Hoped-for Ending Screen
- N – Yoritomo was defeated easier than expected. And so, the ending screen
- A – (reading) . . . have lived there since ancient times. The mad. . .What’s that say, beetle grub?
- N – Difficult-to-read words line the screen, but the protagonist, Kagekiyo defeated Yoritomo, and cleared away the grudge he feels for having died at Dan-no-ura.
- A - …to my far away homeland . . . the rise and fall of . . . huh?
- N – Arino wants to savor this revenge two years in the making, but…
- S – Arino! Your taxi just arrived downstairs!
- A – What, were you looking outside for it?
- A – Thanks, I’ll get changed and head down then.
- A – I’m gonna complain about all of this on the radio!
- (Prince’s text) – Arino barely making his radio appearance is what had me on pins and needles.
