background : mi rae was born in gangnam-gu, south korea into a very chaotic family. her parents had her when they were young, only in their early twenties (22-24) and had to figure out a lot in such a short time. as she got older her father would often tear her down and talk bad about her. this lead to a lot of verbal and eventually physical abuse towards her. when she was fifteen her mother decided to divorce her father and move out to a new house with rae. her mother got full custody of her and they started a new life together. after rae had graduated from high school she decided to move to seoul to become an idol. her mother and her still keep in touch but she would often focus on her own struggles, with rent, work, and practice she would stay up multiple nights to work as hard as she possibly could to make her mother proud.
