  1. [12:49 AM] viewtifulmatt13: the part you need to understand is that time constraints are a big thing. We have slightly more than the bare minimum time needed to finish the long list of projects throughout the store each week. And if things arent done right the 1st time it only cuts into the time we have for other things and now the pressure builds for whoever is in charge to have even less time to get the same work done.
  2. Having to monitor and at times redo an incorrectly done project isn't worth the hassle, on top of the fact that there are already members of the store that aren't performing where they need to be and are already hindering things. You are far from the biggest problem in either store, Jasmine is a pain in her own right and Sharon at times can't quite manage her time properly.
  3. and like half the staff at my store are causing issues.
  4. We cannot afford to have yet another person creating potential problems, and when I can't effectively rely on you for the smaller things that I give, how I am supposed to trust that you'll handle larger things?
  5. [12:49 AM] viewtifulmatt13: im always wired at the store because it is a constant game of catchup, and you are not the only person I give shit to, in fact half the store is taking issue with me atm because im calling everyone out for their BS
  6. [12:50 AM] viewtifulmatt13: Wanda calls out all the time, Kassandra is slow and makes stupid mistakes, Gitti flat out is refusing to do work
  7. [12:50 AM] viewtifulmatt13: If you want to see what handling the small stuff looks like, I'll bring you to work with me and Jesse one day
  8. [12:51 AM] viewtifulmatt13: you can spend the day watching how he works
  9. [12:51 AM] viewtifulmatt13: He takes the mundane with a smile, bangs through it, and also asks for more. I know I can trust him to get stuff done, I know he'll make any mistakes once and I wont need to tell him again
  10. [12:52 AM] viewtifulmatt13: And because of that I take time off the clock to teach him things and help groom him to move forward with the company
  11. [12:52 AM] viewtifulmatt13: I had initially planned to do the exact same for you
  12. [12:52 AM] viewtifulmatt13: you did not show me an output or desire to strive for more and therefore as far as I'm concerned, I would be wasting my time
  13. [12:54 AM] yoshua: Frankly, you should have really had a discussion with me about how I felt about possibly being management of any kind. However, that is neither here nor there. Still, I already knew that. You've told me that last part like, idk, 3 times now? I've heard it indirectly through Megan a few more times than that even.
  14. [12:54 AM] yoshua: I can understand the rest.
  15. [12:55 AM] yoshua: It puts me in a totally different sort of rough place though. Because I learn by doing.
  16. [12:55 AM] yoshua: I always have.
  17. [12:55 AM] yoshua: And unfortunately that process of doing and learning is not necessarily the most efficient.
  18. [12:55 AM] yoshua: It never has been.
  19. [12:55 AM] yoshua: Everything I'm good at.
  20. [12:56 AM] yoshua: I am good at because I've done it for a long time.
  21. [12:56 AM] yoshua: Except singing and rhythm.(edited)
  22. [12:56 AM] yoshua: I was born with that.
  23. [12:57 AM] viewtifulmatt13: so you can't make songs to help you memorize things? you can't sing to yourself to improve things for your day? Why do you think I always listen to music at work?
  24. [12:57 AM] yoshua: Because you're a fuckin' nerd, obviously.
  25. [12:57 AM] yoshua: >Implying I don't regularly hum and sing the songs on the intercom system.
  26. [12:58 AM] yoshua: I...feel as if there is a disconnect here.
  27. [12:58 AM] viewtifulmatt13: obviously its not enough
  28. [12:59 AM] yoshua: Obviously it doesn't help. I have used singing to learn a few times, but it really only helps me with small things like memorization. The only thing I've found it working for, more specifically, is numbers.
  29. [12:59 AM] yoshua: Remembering numbers.
  30. [12:59 AM] yoshua: It's how I learned to remember my mom's phone number.
  31. [12:59 AM] yoshua: As a good example.
  32. [12:59 AM] yoshua: The disconnect I am detecting here.
  33. [1:00 AM] yoshua: Is that you don't really understand what it means to learn through doing and only doing.
  34. [1:00 AM] yoshua: Even though you've seen me do it.
  35. [1:00 AM] yoshua: Countless times.
  36. [1:00 AM] yoshua: Pros and cons.
  37. [1:00 AM] yoshua: Con: Short term, I suck. At everything.
  38. [1:01 AM] yoshua: Pro: Long term, I am usually better than most people at almost anything. Barring exceptional talent, physical limitations, or things that obviously can't be compared meaningfully.(edited)
  39. [1:02 AM] viewtifulmatt13: so how long did it take for you to get good at bojangles?
  40. [1:02 AM] yoshua: I'd say.
  41. [1:02 AM] yoshua: Three months. However before you comment on that. Let me lay this out for you.
  42. [1:02 AM] yoshua: At no point were expectations lowered for me. At no point was I given less to do just because I might not get it done quickly.
  43. [1:03 AM] yoshua: Fast food, as I've seen it, is get good or quit.
  44. [1:03 AM] yoshua: I could not afford to quit. I had time. I knew the expectations. I got good.
  45. [1:04 AM] yoshua: Since I started at CVS, the expectations have stayed high, but the execution on those expectations has lowered and fluctuated.
  46. [1:04 AM] yoshua: And I've admitted almost full culpability for my actions when I started.
  47. [1:04 AM] yoshua: They were shit.
  48. [1:06 AM] yoshua: I'd like to point something else out. I'd say my motivation is still even despite Justin and anyone else's pace complaint, better than it was prior to today, than I have been at your store. I'd say a big part of that is because it has been more consistent and I have also gotten more than negative feedback.
  49. [1:06 AM] yoshua: I could count the times you or anyone else gave me positive feedback on my work on my two hands.
  50. [1:06 AM] yoshua: Knowing what I am doing correctly is just as important as knowing what I am doing wrong.
