  1. Name: Shannon Baclan.
  2. Age: 36
  3. Height: 5'6"
  4. Weight: 121 lbs.
  5. Background:
  6. Shannon Baclan was born and raised on the outer rung of Burmecia, home to the laborers and farmers. She spent most of her youth tending the fields and caring for her household, including her younger brother, James, who was constantly ill.
  7. Shannon lived unnoticed by most and didn't show the drive or talent required for higher education or career paths. Her few entrees in Burmecian records do, however, mark a few arrests for disorderly conduct. She was nearly imprisoned in one instance for assault on a city guard. However, the eye-witness accounts claim she acted in self defense and the charge was dropped. A street urchin stated, "Shanny's as muscled as a broom. I dunno why he [the guard] wanted to nail her so badly. Keheh! I never seen someone get their head stuck in a bucket like that. She kicked em' across the room."
  8. At the age of 18, Shannon was married to Timothy Baclan, a soft-spoken but strong gentleman and off-duty soldier. Together, they ran a small sod farm and bore two children: Joyce and Donovan Baclan.
  9. However, all this changed during the Alexandrian Siege of Burmecia. Timothy was called to defend Gizamaluke's Grotto from the invading forces, but disappeared during combat. After the siege, Shannon raised her children alone until they came of age and set off to pursue their goals.
  10. Currently at age 36, Shannon lives alone on her plot. Her labor alone was not enough to justify keeping the sod farm, so the Burmecian nobles revoked her land for more suitable laborers, forcing her to move into a burrow-like shack and work as a pauper to get by. She takes any job available, but is recommended by several inns for her dedicated cleaning skills (despite her occasional drunken rages).
  11. Unbenounced to most, Shannon also competes as a struggling fighter in a series of bar-room 'cage fights'. Her appearance is a novelty in the ring, seeing as she was the only combatant wearing layman's clothes and an apron, fighting with a set of overweight, oversized gauntlets: one of the few treasures to the Baclan family name.
  12. Personality:
  13. Shannon does her best to stay strong, stoic, and helpful to her community. Her years spent in farming and housekeeping have steeped into an image of patience and calm, even when she's bluffing. However, she does her best to rarely bluff and never cheat or steal. Even in her poverty, she finds the latter two acts reprehensible. If witness to a theft and able to intervene, she would, and she'd make sure to teach the villain a lesson through smacks and scolds.
  14. She is confident (if not cocky) in her position as a widow and mother, leading to the dangerous belief that she faced it all already and could deal with anything. However, this strength occasionally falters after a thorough beating in the ring.
  15. As a fighter, Shannon acts to scratch a certain 'itch', an itch for a sense of control over her own life even if it leads to a few lost teeth and a black eye. Deep down, she felt cheated about her husband's disappearance. After the siege, her children became more subdued and melancholic. She worried she was helpless to heal their wounds, and after they left she found the desperate need to keep busy, or else she would grow distraught and drink heavily.
  16. While drunk, Shannon is loud and snappy. She is quick to release any aggressions she has, possibly an association formed while competing in the cage. She always drinks before she fights.
  17. Appearance:
  18. As a Burmecian, lean-ness is practically a given, and aside from her slightly thickened thighs, she's just as much of a twig as most of them come. Her fur is ash gray with a strange, pale blond accentuating her long, unkempt hair. Her face and features are soft, but her eyes--always furrowed and bagged--gave her an air of sternness and angularity.
  19. Shannon wears affordable, undyed clothing aside from a keepsake green bandanna she wraps around her head. As a cleaner for inns, she wears a dark green apron to protect herself from dirt. Unable to afford most shoes, she wraps her feet in disposable cloth strips.
