  1. Bio:
  2. Edward Letrade was the only son of Julius Letrade, a wealthy businessman and innovator in space exploration. When he was but a child Edward accompanied his father and mother on an expedition aboard one of his father’s experimental deep space rockets, a mission to sent to retrieve a cosmic signal which was received from the middle of deep space, a signal which called to them by name.
  3. The mission was a disaster, shortly after the craft arrived at the source of the signal it collided with an unknown object, causing its gravitational stabilizers to fail and initiating a chain wormhole collapse which sent the craft hurtling back to earth and resulted in the deaths of all aboard except for Edward himself and a mysterious deck which was found in the unconscious boys grasp.
  4. After his crash Edward was adopted by his fathers distant relative, a wealthy man who trained him in duelling and fuelled his anger and ambition, forging the doubts and worries of the young man into a potent weapon for his own Ends, and when he was ready Edward was inducted into his adoptive fathers organisation, a secretive society with grand plans for the world. While his role in the machine is yet unknown to him, it is to this end that he attends duel academy.
  5. However, his connection to the shadowy organisation that guides his fate is not Edwards only inner demon, exposure to dark dimensional energy has borne a toll on his soul, making him more ruthless and cut-throat in duels and requiring for him to engage in duels with others to replenish his own energy- lest the darkness within overwhelm him and claim his soul.
  6. In addition to the troubles presented by his condition, destiny and own foul temperament perhaps the greatest trouble facing Edward is his own heart, for it is at duel academy that he found someone who he could not bring himself to hurt, but how can someone so steeped in suffering refrain from doing so? What is he to do when he does not wish to hurt them but cannot keep away?
  7. Deck:
  8. Edwards deck are the very cards he inherited from the crash which claimed his family and sent him upon his quest, his Darkstar Monsters are powerful creatures which rely on being discarded to be special summoned or trigger their effects, as such his deck is built around mutual destruction and control effects- turning mutual loss into his gain with powerful monsters and effects which destroy enemy creatures or spells. However, the deck possesses a weakness in its reliance on resources to enact its moves, meaning that should a ploy fail it is left in a weakened state while it attempts to recover resources for the second attempt.
  9. The two most powerful cards in the deck are Edward’s prized possessions and most dear belongings, his Black-Hole Dragon creature and Twist of Fate trap.
  10. Black-Hole Dragon: The very beast which was discovered by Edwards father as he searched for the darkstar, a creature from the end of time which is immune to all effects and can remove all cards on the field from play when it is summoned, gaining attack points for every card removed this way.
  11. The Black-Hole Dragon is Edwards ultimate monster and most powerful finisher, and his closest confidant- its advice and strategic insight teaching Edward how to duel. Such is the power of the Black-Hole Dragon that not even the souls of those it defeats can escape its event horizon, making defeat suffered at its hands final for Edwards opponents. But it is this very power that is the source of Edwards condition, for such is the Dragons inexorable pull that not even the wielder of it can be entirely immune from its effects, and should he lose while it is out his soul shall too be forfeit.
  12. Twist of Fate is Edwards hidden ace in the hole, a trap that allows him to reflect the consequences of an effect or attack, swapping places with his opponent for the purposes of resolution, while highly situational this card can snatch duels from the jaws of defeat if used correctly.
