SPOT ON!! Exactly, they hear your accent
(mine American) and decide what they hate
about you and bring it up on a daily basis. I
work in a vineyard and so we are always in
close proximity to each other and I'm
telling you, I've stopped talking...all
day...everyday. I've just decided it is safer to
not talk at all, not offer an opinion. I tell
you what though, it has made me love my
country more than I did before. When
people are running down your place of
birth like a bulldozer it forced you to really
look at what was good and I'll never
apologize for my "assertivness", my
"ambition", the fact that I have goals or
plan my life a week/month/year in advance
and that I value my self esteem.
Last night about 9pm I got the strangest txt
from my female supervisor. I know she was
drunk, she always is by that hour. It
said..."I need to talk to you soon". I didn't
reply right away. About 10 min later she
replied again..."if you don't reply soon, I'll
know". I replied..."I was in the toilet, what's
up?" she replied "I think you know". To that
I said "???. I don't. I need to go to sleep
now. I'll talk to you tomorrow". I was
really taken aback by this and I've decided
to cut off all friendship with her outside of
work and if it continues to be this
uncomfortable I'll quit and find a new
contractor. I no longer need this, nor want
this garbage in my life.
