  1. Saanth, the Blood Forger
  2.
  3. Saanth is a Darkin who wields a glaive comprised of flowing blood and splintered bone. She was one of the last free Darkin during the Twilight of the Gods, and was sealed by a group of feeble mages without resistance due to guilt over the centuries of war caused by the Darkin. Her jailors, fearful to move the weapon Saanth was confined within, left her in her fortress in Shurima, which was eventually swallowed by the sands and she was forgotten. As she spent centuries imprisoned, she contemplated her past actions and pondered why she had been allowed to live--confined or not--despite taking so many lives. Eventually, with her sanity slowly dissipating, she determined that her life must be worth more than those that she had killed, and that if so many thousands of human lives were not worth her own single life, she must be a god. With the resolution, Saanth became resentful of her imprisonment and discovered that it was not nearly as strong as those that bound her brethren, due to both the weakness of the mages and her own lack of resistance to the spell. From within the blade, she drew upon the life she found around her, pulling her presence to her attention. A few days later, nomadic scavengers stumbled upon the throne room of her fortress, finding a single, bone glaive impaled in the ground before the throne. Captivated by it, an argument over who could claim it broke out, escalating into a brawl. As each man fell, the bodies’ blood flowed slowly to the glaive, until only one scavenger stood. He turned towards his prize, only to find a monstrous woman of blood and bone wielding it, who promptly severed his head and claimed her own prize, the blood swiftly draining from his body.
