- After I graduate high school in 2012, I'll be heading over to England for a year or so. My friend Zac and I are going to share a flat somewhere around London; I hope to be taking A-Levels at St. Georges while he will either be trying to do the same or working on his paintings. One of the main reasons I want to do A-Levels is that I want to be able to get some sort of independent studying in before college, so I can get a better feel for what I should take come college time. I have a general idea of what I want to do, so hopefully I can use this as an opportunity to figure out something more specific before I spend ludicrous amounts of money on college.
- I know that I definitely like writing and the English language, but I also have interests in world issues, history, and traHvel, so I think some kind of journalism might be a good idea. On the other hand, I'd also like to make something of my interest in film and photography, so I might end up doing something involving documentaries. The courses I'd want to take are:
- -English Language and Literature
- -Film Studies
- -Photography
- (with Spanish as a backup in case something doesn't work out)
- Additionally, I am getting quite sick of the States, or at least the Eastern seaboard. I'm looking forward to going someplace new, where I can try to work on studying and figuring things out without the baggage of living in the US.
- Hopefully I can take advantage of the gap year to get to try new things while at the same time getting more prepared for college.
- Thank you for your consideration.
