2.
[c][big]Council Imposes Moratorium on Aggerholm Industries' Sensation Engine
3.
4. Date: October 7,2207[/big][c]
5. After weeks of debate regarding Aggerholm Industries' latest offering, the Citadel Council has come to a decision over just what to do with the devices taking the markets by storm. In a majority vote cast by Councillors Itama Varunae, Prax Villithern, and Auria Olymion (Councillor Whitehall abstaining); a moratorium for all Council member races on the sale, distribution, and installation of the Sensation Engine has been put into effect. This decision comes on the heels of several governments banning the device for use by military and government personnel, and Aggerholm Industries' recent announcement of partnership with the Terminus-based company known as "Scarecrow Inc." Here is an excerpt from a statement made by Councillor Villithern earlier today:
6.
7. "...Our decision today may upset or bother those whose lives are affected by this moratorium, and we on the Council do not do this lightly. The simple fact of the matter is that Aggerholm Industries has seen it fit to ally itself with an entity who is engaging in mercenary activities of piracy in support for a faction not only carrying out a war against a Council member race, but a faction who is known to use disruptive tactics against civilian populations to achieve its ends. For the safety of all Council citizens who may be sought as targets in this conflict, we enact this policy for their safety, and will commit to a re-evaluation of the moratorium as soon as the conflict reaches its conclusion. Councillor Varunae has already assured me that the Asari Republics stand ready to assist those who are reconsidering their Sensation implant at no cost to them...."
8.
9. While the moratorium covers all new installations and sales, private citizens who do not meet any other government or corporate restrictions on the Sensation Engine will be allowed to retain and use their device as they wish, though without an active connection to the Terminus-based AGI servers. All inbound and outbound SENSEN traffic from Council Space is expected to be firewalled on the comm buoy network within the week. Users wishing to comply with the Council's advice to temporarily remove the device for the duration of the moratorium are advised to back up their data and contact their nearest Asari Republics representative to schedule a removal.
