  1. My buddy Francisco runs a brand called BuyVM.
  2.
  3. He's a VPS provider, basically equivalent to Vultr, Digital Ocean, or AWS without the marketing cloud bullshit that really just means a vps on bare metal, like everyone else.
  4.
  5. He's been in that industry since basically 2010.
  6.
  7. You might recognize him from LinusTechTips, if you're familiar.
  8.
  9. At the time the business was started out of passion.
  10.
  11. Fast forward 10 years later, he's sitting on 2.5 million worth of IPv4 addresses alone.
  12.
  13. (57,600 x $45 -- you do the math)
  14.
  15. Not including MRR, nor the physical gear he owns.
  16.
  17. Which by the way, buying an IP address block is a great investment right now every IPv4 address you own is worth about $45 each, which practically a year ago it was about $20 bucks each.
  18.
  19. One of the safest investments you can bet on...
  20.
  21. The internet continuing to grow.
  22.
  23. I digress, here's the point:
  24.
  25. We live in a generation which constantly craves gratification.
  26.
  27. That's usually not how it works.
  28.
  29. You have to put your head down and work.
  30.
  31. And more specifically?
  32.
  33. Work on the fucking brand.
  34.
  35. Francisco took what he started out of pure passion (as well as seeing a demand), and focused on branding.
  36.
  37. He created a very strong, no bullshit brand.
  38.
  39. He originally rose to fame, sort of speak for hosting DailyStormer.
  40.
  41. More or less his stance is, if the content is legal in the country, then I'm going to host it.
  42.
  43. It didn't matter if people wanted it canceled.
  44.
  45. He was vehemently pro-free speech.
  46.
  47. (Which I've spoken about in the past, polarity attracts and repels.)
  48.
  49. He had literally the New Yorker trying to cancel him.
  50.
  51. And guess what?
  52.
  53. He took the free advertisement, kept focusing on his target audience, and his brand is doing better now than it's ever been.
  54.
  55. Slow & steady wins the race.
  56.
  57. Usually things don't work out how you think they will...
  58.
  59. ...and people will most definitely hate you during the process.
  60.
  61. But:
  62.
  63. Just keep your head down, and keep working.
  64.
  65. The work will pay off, just don't expect it to pay off immediately.
  66.
  67. And, sometimes, you'll see the benefits of your work pay off in ways you wouldn't expect.
  68.
  69. 10 years from now, you'll appreciate the seeds you planted today.
  70.
  71. By the way, I have nothing to gain from this nor is this an affiliate link but if you can manage your site from Linux, I highly recommend BuyVM (my site is hosted via BuyVM).
