We have chosen for the subject ‘’food of the future’’, because we think it is a very interesting topic. The human population is around 7.6 billion people, but since the urban population keeps growing we need to reconsider our food choices. Our current food system cannot handle the growth in human population. The agriculture and food production we have right now is environmentally destructive and we need to start doing something about it. Insects are likely to be the food of the future; it already is an important part of the diet of people in different parts of the world like crickets in Mexico. Currently, one of the main ways in which insects are being used is as a powdered form blend with different kind of flours. Algae could also be seen as a possible food of the future. It can provide lots of protein while using relatively little in the way of scarce resources. The algae grows very fast using sun, air and water – and most water is recycled.
