  1. Bot Bug List
  2.
  3. The "Pocket" bug - When a medic heals a patient, sometimes for no reason the patient gets "stuck" - they might wiggle their view around a little bit but they don't do anything, therefore the medic and the patient both stand there and do nothing. This is fixed if someone walks close enough to the medic or the patient that the medic or patient decides to respond to them.
  4. The "Spy" bug - If any spy saps any building on any team, all bots know the identity of all spies and will instantly turn on them.
  5. "Line of sight" - Power class bots are bad about understanding what sentry nests they're attacking are and aren't in their own line of sight - sometimes they'll be aiming to long-range take out a sentry that's behind 3 brushes and 2 props. AND THEY EMPTY THEIR WHOLE CLIP AND WILL NEVER GET DISTRACTED / REPOSITION. Most notable on soldier bots, though scouts do it too.
  6. "Sniper goes wrong way" - Sniper bots sometimes wander off in the complete opposite direction of the objective, scoping and waiting like there's supposed to be someone there.
  7. "My nav doesn't like that" - Sometimes bots will periodically try to get to places they 100% know is blocked off, such as currently disabled spawns or temporarily closed doors.
  8. "Tracking through walls" - Most notable with expert heavies. Bots will continue to perfectly track someone they have recently lost line of sight with.
  9. "Turtling engies" - I blame Mecha Engine for this one. Engineer bots used to be pretty good about realizing when they weren't contributing, would destroy their current nest, scream "GOTTA MOVE THAT GEAR UP!" and try to build closer to the objective (notable on offense). Now they constantly try to guard A when the map is on point D.
  10. "Engies" - It's fine that they prioritize sentries, but... Completely ignoring other sapped buildings? Completely neglecting teleporters? (They don't ever upgrade, repair, or unsap teleporters). ALSO WHY THE HELL DO THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO STAND INSIDE THEIR BUILDINGS. Also, why do they constantly hit level 3 sentries if they're fully built, or even a building they're trying to upgrade/repair with 0 metal
  11. "How high is that?" - nav_generate is pretty bad at determining what cliffs and props you can and can't normally jump up.
  12. "cheats? nav_edit 1? Screw your rules." I CAN'T FIND SPECIFICALLY WHAT CAUSES IT BUT SOMETIMES WHEN THOSE ARE ENABLED BOTS JUST DON'T ACT AT ALL LIKE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO, IGNORING THREATS RIGHT NEXT TO THEM AND GOING WHATEVER WAY THEY FEEL. RRRRGH.
  13. "Cap's this way... no... that way!" Sometimes before or after capturing a point, bots with medics (most notably heavies) go wayyyyyy in the opposite direction of the objective for no apparent reason. They sometimes go as far as their own spawn before course-correcting properly.
  14. "What does spy do again?" - This only seems to happen when there's an engineer nest involved, but sometimes for no reason a spy bot will reach an engineer nest and then... stare at it. Doing nothing. Ever. And if another bot manages to destroy the nest, they have to destroy it completely or else the spy won't unfreeze. (Saw this happen, demo bot destroyed sentry and teleporter, spy bot got stuck staring at the 1 hp dispenser until a heavy came along and shot it)
  15. "The medic is a spy!" MEdic bots are strange about enemy spies, and will sometimes stare at them or heal them even if they know. And if they don't know, calling for them does nothing, they still act like they "know?"
  16. "Warning shot" - When a bot understands they need to engage, sometimes that order comes in while they're still facing the wrong direction, so they fire a shot at nothing before 180ing to shot their target. Most notable on soldier / demo bots.
  17. "clickclickclick" - Heavy bots sometimes just don't understand their minigun is out of ammo until after an engagement ends.
  18. "Cloak, spy, uncloak, seems legit" - Not really a bug more than a logic derp. Bots understand spies when they cloak, but when they decloak, no reaction whatsoever.
  19. "Walling spies" - Spybots, for some reason, if they bump another spy, can follow them perfectly, even through walls and even through cloak.
  20. "Bump = spy, always" Bumping an enemy from behind as a spy causes them to perfectly understand you're a spy, even if they were still / walking forwards. In the same vein, bumping someone before stabbing sometimes causes their corpse to scream "SPY!" rather than yelling a death scream.
  21. "Setup gate?" - Demo bots, when laying sticky traps down on defense, will detonate them even if there's a setup gate in the way. For that matter, bots in general act weird about setup gates, simultaneously knowing they don't hide whatever's behind but sometimes failing to understand it's solid.
  22. "Medic is useless!" - Medic bots love standing still in spawn and occasionally randomly jumping for no reason if they can't find a patient that respawned with them.
  23. "Chainstabs are dumb" - Another feature idea more than a bug. Bot spies never go for chainstabs, even if nobody's paying attention - they always pick and instantly whip out revolver (/ sapper, since they're actually pretty good about stab and sap)
  24. "Seems legit" - Another feature idea. Don't let spies disguise as the enemy team at the start of round / setup time. Too obvious.
  25. "Love/Hate story" - nav_generate is weird with multistage. Sometimes it generates the nav mesh perfectly fine, others it won't generate for anything except the first stage. I have a theory that it depends on what's connected to the first stage...
  26. "Stalk, don't stab" - Back to spy-bots, sometimes they have prime stab opportunity and everything in their AI is telling them "hey I'm behind the dude let's stab"... but instead they circle around themselves so many times because for some reason they won't actually make the stab.
  27. "W+M2" - more notable with higher-difficulty pyros rather than low difficulty. For some reason their preferred method of engagement is to walk forward and constantly airblast, even if the target is low or already in a corner. It's not until after the fifth blast or so that they finally flamethrow.
  28. "You want uber?" - Medic bots have understandable logic for when they want to uber a target. But, if you call for medic when you are low and they have uber, they will try to uber you. Keyword try - for some reason it takes them almost half their uber duration to actually switch targets to you.
  29. "Metal must be guarded!" - Engineer bots are strange about choosing where they want to set up their nest. Most times they'll put it in a reasonable position close enough to the point. Sometimes, though, their only criteria for making a sentry nest seems to be "is there metal there?", regardless of the fact the sentry will never fire a shot because it's locked off by so many walls or props. More notable on custom maps, which leads me to think it's a nav mesh issue.
  30. "Stairs are so awesome" - Despite the fact nav meshes tell them that they're dead ends, some bots just LOVE getting stuck inside nav_crouch areas, most notably under stairwells.
