Race rules for "with warps" (this is the default unless the goal says "no warps"):

-- Up+A is allowed.  (i.e. pausing the game with the first controller and pressing Up+A on the second controller in order to restart from zelda's temple)

-- Intentionally game-overing by killing yourself is allowed.

-- Simultaneous Left+Right on the d-pad is banned.


Race rules for "no warps":

-- Up+A is banned.

-- Simultaneous Left+Right on the d-pad is banned

-- You must traverse the bridge between death mountain and the graveyard from LEFT to RIGHT.  (This is the bridge you take after finishing death mountain, with two spear-pigs in the first part and a red axe in the second part.)  So if you game-over after getting the hammer but before completely traversing this bridge, you must start again from zelda's temple, traverse the bridge from right to left, then re-enter the bridge and traverse it again from left to right.  (This is to prevent players from game-overing intentionally after the hammer and claiming it was an accident.)

-- After completing Palace 1 you must visit the cave which leads to Palace 1 before visiting any other palaces.  (So if you beat Palace 1 and then game-over somewhere in the desert just outside of the palace, you must start again from zelda's temple and enter the cave from the south end.  You may then immediately exit the cave if you like.)

-- After completing Palace 2 you must visit the narrow mountain pass (consisting of 2 path squares) located X squares to the east of Palace 2, before you can visit any other palaces.  (So if you beat Palace 2 and then game-over in the swamp just outside it, before crossing that pass, you must start again at zelda's temple and visit that pass before continuing to the next palace)
