  1. Well the whole Debate of mine against Emerald & CDS is really simple actually, and the facts cannot be denied.
  2.
  3. Emerald.
  4. 1. They were caught Data mining Residents, and there was a big debate over such, Personal Info, which was stored in their servers without consent was disclosed to unknown hackers.
  5. 2. The DDOS attack, or Showoff attack which spammed a site with at least 1TB of bandwidth, wherever or not this was a DDOS attack or not Emerald did in fact load websites without user consent in the back of Second Life, and again disclosed info to the hackers such as IP address, and from what is said possibly a persons Real Life name.
  6. 3. While this happened, the Emerald Developers had their SVN files released Public, which I obtained a copy of them from public blogs, nothing of anything I could really understand though.
  7. 4. All the massive number of Onyx bots which were said to be scanning people for stolen content in Sandboxes, it made many residents feel unsafe, and was done without even asking everyone in Second Life if they were like it or not.
  8.
  9. CDS (Client Detection System)
  10. While this project is not related to Emerald in any way so they say, Skills Hak is a emerald developer, and his system has quite a few people of his personal friends, and Emerald Team members in a group which has to do with development of CDS, or control over CDS, and although they may be separate projects this leaves a big lack of trusts for me, and a few others who use Emerald after all that has occurred recently.
  11. 1. This system is control by a small group of people, also known as a dictatorship because to my knowledge there was no SL election to put these people in charge of such a system.
  12. 2. This system uses network bans, which any resident who gets added to the list, gets banned from hundreds of sims for no wrong doing. This could be done manually, or by detection of a suspected copybot client.
  13. 3. This system did admit that during beta they flagged hundreds of avatars, and they used Beta testing data, which no professional company would do.
  14. 4. This system did in fact ban quite a few Emerald Users, mistaken for Neil Life, and HXO client, and such during Beta. Some of these people never removed.
  15. 5. Their appeal system is a joke, No one who appeals ever got a response, or any answer to such in Second Life, or outside of Second Life.
  16. 6. The lack of professional Service. This service does lack a professional Website which has the list of all regions using CDS, so that people can avoid them if they choose to not have their privacy violated. They also have no Forums to post appeals on, or anything.
  17. 7. It has been said by many people that Just by a user walking into land, or entering a region in Second Life, that they automatically agree to Skills Haks privacy policy. I have not agreed to it for one, and I will never do so. So by RL Law, I have been violated by his system if people make such claims. While all Region owners have the ability to ban for any reason, or write a covenant for people to read which they accept by being in the region, or they risk getting banned, this does not make an excuse for people to write in it by being you accept this, and not giving people a chance to leave, and violating their privacy. (This does not include Land Bans)
  18. 8. This system does have the ability to use scripts to LOG IP Addresses, while I am aware that any, and all websites log such information, this is not presented to Residents of Second Life, who are just wanting to have fun, Shop, buy things without people spying on them., and is quite a major security risk to those who don’t have security. While Linden Lab has a privacy policy, that policy says in it that, if the resident purchases an Item such as a HUD, or anything, and they use such, that it can legally store their information. Not those who have not purchased such a product, and are Data mined illegally. While CDS claims that it has not done such, my alts were banned without reason, and IP logged which I made a new account, and tested it without any type of viewer other than Second Life, cleared cache and everything and it was banned from a CDS region. (After All not all of us are compute nerds, and I know that security is our responsibility)
  19. 9. Many people who have talked to me about this issue, even content creators who have been here even before Skills say that there is still a bunch of questions related to the system that are not done correctly, or that are not answered, and because of such they feel unsafe in Second Life, and don’t want to be in any CDS region, and don’t want to use his product.
  20.
  21. If these facts are not true that about Emerald, and CDS being a dictatorship controlled by one group of people, not a community of people, then I seriously want to hear about it why CDS is not.
  22.
  23. While Linden Lab chooses to ignore people who have been in Second Life longer than Skills, because people do have rights to their Land in Second Life. These issues are related to privacy issues, and Dictatorship issues which Restrict peoples free movement, violation of privacy, and defames residents who have played some for many years before even I was in Second Life, without any wrong things done by them. While Linden Lab can simply ban a users account, Hide forum topics/blogs on their website to keep new people from seeing what is going on, they can not, and will not hide the truth, and the facts that have been posted on other sites forums and such. So until Linden Lab decides to do something about this, there is going to be the issues with lots of unhappy customers in Second Life. I honestly have no Idea why they do not take action at least by removing CDS from Second Life, could it be because this user pays for 5 or more estates? I saw Woodbury who had over 3 simulators all disappear one night, and this was said to be something related to the Emerald group, because they leaked the truth about their Data mining.
  24. Why I think Linden Lab should take action is simple, due to the reasons said above.
  25.
  26. While Linden Lab could add a patch to Second Life which gives the option to prevent scripts from ever allowing any outside URL to load, or transmit data to a users client without permission which is enabled by default. This will not do anything about the hundreds if not thousands of users already affected by his system. The only solution for this even if Linden Lab patched the client would be for me to delete my account, make an entire new account, and loose everything I have ever purchased. Some of my items are non transferable, and I cannot take them with me, or anything, not to mention the Thousands of  dollars that have went into this account, and what would prevent it from ever happening again as long as such a system is in place.
  27.
  28. While I am aware that any website a person visits, or Loads within Second Life can track an IP address, Geo Location, or other personal Information. This is being done with consent when a user clicks the play button, or has media enabled. However it is not done with consent when a user does neither and websites are loaded up in the background which loads other websites without the user’s knowledge of such. This is also known as Spyware, and cannot be blocked without getting scanned at least once, and editing the Hosts file on your pc, because you allow Second Life through your firewall.
  29.
  30. Over All
  31.
  32. Emerald Developers & CDS Developers have proven to the public in some ways that they cannot be trusted to many people with what has happened within the year of 2010. Wherever or not they can be trusted again will be if they do the right thing, and Remove CDS from Second Life, and if they want to continue CDS they can, however they must not used Ban link Systems, and will give each individual of the system 100% Control over the system that they own, and respect peoples privacy. This way there is no dictatorship. I have asked them to do such in the past, and they decline because they want full control, and to me this just is not right, and is a plague that is killing and destroying Second Life as we know it today.
  33.
  34. If I am seriously wrong about any of this, I would really love to hear about it.
