  1. I don't normally give a detailed summary of a game's plot from beginning to end, but I'll make an exception here.
  2.
  3.
  4. The game's world view is so abstract and confusing (with a lot of things and drama scenes literally left unexplained) and most scenes are random and irrelevant that there aren't a whole lot of synopsis that make sense but this is what I can surmise between the manual and three games. Before I begin, let me say that the game's colorful graphics are misleading as the story is actually quite cruel and, as some Japanese websites put it, *disturbing and at times uncomfortable*. This is because a lot of the dialogue is cold and unfeeling and other parts by certain characters are spoken and illustrated in a made-up language, so very few scenes are actually coherent.
  5. This is going to be a little long.

  19. So, the story begins with Jino-chan and her backstory. She was an orphan abandoned in a cardboard box on a roadside of an unknown planet by her actual parents who thought she was an ill-omen and eventually picked up by a kind woman passing by who raises her. Although she was a cute child who seemed innocent at a glance, she was full of bad luck and discriminated against and did horrible things to those around her (almost always unconsciously). Because she couldn't be around other people her age, she had a tutor teach her while her adoptive mother desperately tried to shield her from the hatred of others and raise her to be a good person. The tipping point is when she inadvertently kills the woman who raised her in a freak accident (that is not thoroughly explained, but assumed to be Jino accidentally casting a forbidden spell different from the peaceful spell her tutor was teaching her, which completely vaporizes her). This causes her to become more detached from society and no one wants anything to do with her, so she wanders the streets and eventually the universe making a living by doing odd jobs as well as scamming, stealing, and doing street performances, until she eventually becomes a bounty hunter and "befriends" a race of lesser cat folk on the Neko Paketto (Cat Packet) Star.
  20.
  21. This star is eventually invaded by an alien named Doppa and his army, who Jino has been hunting. Doppa's motives are not clear at this time (he presumably wanted the secrets of their advanced scientific machines) but what is known is that it was not his intention to have the star destroyed; Jino ruthlessly hunts him down and he can't get a word in edgewise so he teleports near the heart of the star, believing that she won't be foolish enough to attack him and that she would hear him out, but she does and winds up destroying the star in the process. She narrowly escapes and crash lands on "Planet Lion" where a race of greater Cat and Sheep folk are at war.
  22.
  23. Jino is dazzled but unhurt and takes a look at her new surroundings when she is confronted by Molina the cat nurse (who is also a bogus cat prophet) who knew of her arrival through legends... though she admits this is the first time she's been right about anything because you could be heard from miles away. She introduces you to the Cat King (Neko Shogun) and his sons and eldest daughter as they tell you that they are at war due to a letter that was sent to them; they were invited to a party at the Sheep Nation, but the envoys they sent never returned. Instead, they received hamburger patties made out of cat meat at the gate to the castle along with their possessions. At this point, Jino can either help or leave (but leaving causes her to inadvertently kill one of the sheep in the process, getting her wrapped up in their mess regardless) and becomes a "hero" who can turn the tides of battle.
  24.
  25. From there, a lot of non-essential exposition takes place (teaching you about different game mechanics such as the stat-boosting fairies, Cat-Bear converter, the Sheep Culture Center led by a non-sheep ventriloquist who gives a lecture and is promptly ignored, the almost useless Ahu-chan who looks like a mermaid and isn't related to cats or sheep, the quest for a legendary white fairy, a mysterious stranger who writes graffiti with an advanced laser pointer and passes out, etc.) until you get a few glimpses of what's happening in the Sheep Nation. The peaceful Princess Nietzsche is informed by Patra and Derrida (two of her loyal servants) that her people are dying at the hands of the cats and reluctantly sends her top ranking officers, Alice-B and Gertrude, to put an end to the bloodshed. You are briefly introduced to these characters through Alice-B using bizarre dance moves to captivate her followers (although she is quickly killed by your team and does an outlandish dance before "dying") and Gertrude who is hiding at the heart of the Sheep nation as the last line of defense.
  26.
  27. In order to get to the Sheep Nation, the player has to activate a rainbow bridge on Stage 54 but the game is ambiguous as far as how to do this (it was the same way in the original PC-98 game), but basically, you need to talk to the Cat King on Stage 0 a few times and then find Dr. Nanoray (the one who drew the laser graffiti) on Stage 40 a few times to gain access. Anyway, you "kill" Gertrude who is impaled by several swords and "dies" without hardly uttering a word while Jino and her team storm the castle. In a desperate plea, Princess Nietzsche explains that they did send an invitation to come to the Sheep Nation for a peaceful gathering when the cats suddenly started attacking them and she is overwhelmed with grief and faints.

  29. While thinking of what to do, Jino hears a commotion outside and finds her nemesis, Doppa, outside spreading more propaganda and appears as the "mastermind" behind the cats and sheep fighting so he can reduce their numbers and overthrow their planet with his invaders on the way. Just when all hope seems lost, Jino has newfound determination and comes across a building that was a hideout for her long-lost Neko Paketto friends (from the star she destroyed). The King of the Cat Nation and the Princess of the Sheep Nation unite and realize that everything was a huge misunderstanding orchestrated by Doppa and they turn the surrounding area into their combined base of operations. New weapons are developed with the Neko Paketto's advanced scientific know-how which helps them fight back the aliens (purchased with Nyan Nyan Coins on Stage 64) as the Neko Paketto race has a quick and unexplained recollection of their people being terrorized by what seems to be Doppa's alien invaders in the past.
  30.
  31. Their battle leads them to an underground facility where aliens have been hiding their forces and the player has a choice at this point that affects the difficulty going forward (Stranger / Random Strength, Challenger / Extreme Strength and Ordinary / Normal Strength). Regardless, you eventually run into Doppa who is cryptic as usual but taunts you (In Katakana and English) by saying "Go to Heaven! Go to Heaven! Adios Amigo. Bye bye then." and teleports away as Jino attempts to fight him. She later catches him slumped against a wall and he claims he hasn't done anything, but Jino draws her blade and says that even if he wasn't actively fighting, he'll be judged for his participation. Doppa leaves a mysterious item with her (not explained) and says he'll leave it to her to find the truth and disappears again. After exterminating more aliens, Jino sees the toll it's taking on the cat soldiers when she visits Molina the Cat Doctor and tries to rest when she's haunted by her past with her mom and all the killing she's done. Jino has gradually been feeling remorse for her actions (seeing premonitions earlier in the game and conflicted with some of the choices she's made) but presses on to end the war.
  32.
  33. After running into Doppa fanatics and getting to the heart of the alien front, it's implied that Doppa was also a victim in everything and was under the the influence of an even greater threat -- a giant alien head with a huge brain who is run by a being similar looking to Doppa (perhaps the king of his own planet) who barely utters a few words and says "Ciao". It's believed that he won't mess with the cats and sheeps anymore and Jino is hailed as a true hero. The cat people thank her, the Neko Paketto get her ship running again, and they say their goodbyes. Jino flies around and gets a view of the Sheep Kingdom where it's revealed at the very end that Gertrude and Alice-B were never killed even though the plot and scenes portrayed otherwise , and as Jino is flying through space, she is again haunted by her demons but gets a call from Molina who asks if she would like her fortune told one more time before she departs (she was a wannabe prophet in the beginning). Jino agrees and Molina picks up a type of Tarot Card and says "Not Again. Well, I guess I'll see you soon" to which Jino nods and flys through space, eventually hitting an asteroid and crashing back on Planet Lion, probably alluding to a sequel (this would get a bit of attention in "Sengoku Turb F.I.D").
