|| background: both her parents are korean, but went to university in melbourne, which is where they met. first came her brother, seonho, and 2 years later, seonji was born. she was raised in melbourne until the age of 13 (international), when her family moved back to korea to be closer to her (ill) grandparents (fun fact: the grandparents in question are from her mom's side and died when seonji was 16.) seonji was quite difficult to deal with during the move. she was 13 and hormonal, and she argued with her parents multiple times about leaving her friends and her entire life in australia. in the end, though, seonji gave in, and they moved to seoul. she was visibly upset and cried almost every night for the first few weeks after the move until her brother made her snap out of it, accept her new lifestyle, and move on. she already knew how to speak korean from her family when she moved, but her communication skills were definitely lacking. her brother adjusted much more quickly, while seonji struggled to make friends. it took a while for her to find people that were comfortable with talking in 25% english, but after she did, seonji's korean skills improved greatly. by greatly, i mean a lot. before, she cringed at her every sentence. now, she spits fire.

ーGUMDROP。

|| personality: seonji, as we can see, tends to be very stubborn and determined. she doesn't like change. she's okay with occasional spontaniety or schedule adjustments, but she hates being in unfamiliar situations that put her at a disadvantage or in a potentially vulnerable state. she tries her best to be independent, and to an extent, she is, but she often needs someone to rely on for emotional support or to intervene when seonji doesn't know what she's doing (prime example: her brother). she knows not to pressure herself too much, so she tries to take things one at a time and at her own pace. what seonji hates most is when she isn't listened to. she's not necessarily attention seeking, and she isn't excessively talkative, but when she has something to say, it's best that you listen (for your own sake). she opens up easily and is quick to get comfortable with people, but when she "opens up", it's never in the complete sense of the word. for seonji, "open" means that she wouldn't mind disclosing her period schedule or how much weight she gained in the past week, but not "open" in the sense that she'll express her self-doubt. (this is a trait she obtained only about 2 years after her move to seoul). something else to know about seonji; she tries to be quiet when around people older than her because she sometimes forgets to use respectful language. when she does, she'll usually widen her eyes, avert her eyes to the floor, clasp her hands together and say "i'm so sorry."

|| idol(s): she loves fall out boy. with a passion. though some of their lyrics make absolutely no sense, the ones that do hit her in the heart harder each time she listens to them. her discovery of lyrics that actually mean something led her to rap music (not the rap about boobies and clubs; meaningful rap). from there, sprouted her love for other artists. the root was always fall out boy. more recently, seonji fell in love with bts; especially their rap line.


|| why does your character want to be an idol?
before moving to seoul, it was something she never really thought about. before moving to seoul, she thought that she was going to become a businesswoman. then, she went to a bigbang concert (dragged by her brother). she saw people crying, some singing their lungs out, some screaming hysterically with their friends. then she realized that she wanted to mean something to people the way idols meant something. also; dancing and singing/rapping at the same time looked really cool. she wanted to try it, and turns out she genuinely enjoyed it. okay then; career option #1: idol!

|| how they act on stage: her stage presence is pretty good, she has this dominant aura whenever she's in the spotlight. she has a way of performing that makes the audience feel rebellious, like they just stole something from a snobby rich person and don't at all regret it.

|| how they act off stage but on camera: she tries her best to show a quirky and relatable persona. she hates people with boring personalities, so she tries to show her colors to entertain whoever's watching. she unintentionally looks away from the camera a lot because she's subconciously trying to appeal to the audience as relaxed, but it comes off as slightly awkward (but it's cute, so no one minds).

|| how they act off stage and off camera: she's a lot more cheeky off camera. if you compliment her, she won't directly say thank you, but she'll grin and shoot her finger guns at you. she sometimes talks to people as if they're already close, and if the other person points this out, as long as they are not much older than her, she just says "oh yeah. hehe, sorry about that." and continues speaking semi formally. she still knows where to draw the line, though.

|| how would your character react to someone being eliminated? what if she hated that person? what if she was close to that person?

elimination is a constant reminder to seonji that next time, it could be her. she knows that her hard-headedness won't be able to get her through everything, so she focuses more with every elimination. however, this doesn't mean she's insensitive to people leaving. like i said before, she hates change. so if someone she depended on or was really close with got eliminated, there's a high chance that she'll get so frustrated that she cries. even if she was not close to them, she sometimes tears up out of empathy because she can imagine how hard they worked to get here. as for people she doesn't like, she doesn't want to end things on bad terms, so if they end up eliminated, she'll give them a hug and a "you'll do well, so don't cry". she might still not like them, but if they leave, she'll soon forget her anger/annoyance toward them.


|| how would your character react if she was eliminated?

 she'd smile through her tears. she wouldn't want to leave, but if she must, she'll continue to support the other girls and wish them luck whether or not they debut this time around. she'll cry because even though she knows that it's a survival show, elimination would make her feel inferior to all the other trainees. she'll feel disappointed; what didn't i show to the viewers? why didn't they think i was capable?

if she debuts, if she doesn't, she'll end up writing a song about the experience. she made friends, and as long as they remain, she won't be upset for too long.

|| describe the scene where your character wins one of the seats in the top seven.  be descriptive because if your character does make it to the top 7 i might use this scene!

"kim seonji!"

seonji starts clapping, staring at the floor. 'congrats to them', she thinks. they probably deserve it. 'i wonder if they'll call my name...'

she looks up. the other trainees are clapping and smiling at her. she hears a "you did it, eonnie!" she squints. 'why did that feel directed towards me? wait, which one is kim seo- oH.'

a moment of shock settles in seonji. 'me. i'm kim seonji. holy craP THEY CALLED ME THATS MY NAME IM KIM SEONJI'

she subconciously let's an "mmph" out of her mouth. she wraps her arms around her stomach, slightly keeled over, muttering "i did it" repeatedly to herself. she continues muttering, and it finally sinks it that yes they did call her name, and thats when the tears start to fall.

|| how does your character act when meeting new people?

seonji is open (as i said before) as long as she feels comfortable. if the person she's meeting wears a smile, seems friendly, or seems about her age, she'll feel completely at ease. otherwise, she won't be as rowdy. if you're the type of person that doesn't talk much, seonji doesn't mind carrying the conversation, but if you show absolutely no interest or manners, she'll scrunch up her nose, pull out her phone, and ignore your presence.
